Had a setback today. Opened the smoker to find mold. Scrubbed with soap and water, then blasted the heat for an hour, reseasoned and now have two racks of baby backs in it. Hope I got rid of the mold. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

That day was public land. It was more about how hot it was then anything. I have some private land up north I will be putting a couple cams up. But most of my hunting is public land. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

Half of tree stand falls were fatal, 100% were preventable

I did the rope and 2×4 for a few years. Got the idea from a book about bow hunting I borrowed from the library. Hug the tree on the way up. Still had my ( at that time safety belt ) attached. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk -
Thank you. I have been trying new things to change up the day to day meals. One night last week I sauteed some shrimp in garlic and EVO, made fettuccine, and used garlic parm wing sauce to make a variation of shrimp scampi. It was awesome. Not sure if I have a pic, will have to check my phone. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

I've tree surfed many times, always used my safety belt or harness. Fear of heights keeps me on the ground these days. Bonus to hunting from the ground, if I drop something there's no metal clanking noise and I can just lean forward and pick it up. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk -
Another stuffed pork tenderloin, spinach - fresh garlic - and provolone this time. Spheghetti squash for a side. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

Talked to my buddy last night, he said to double check with his dad about putting the cams out. Just got off the phone with him and he said no problem. Glad I talked to him as there will be two other hunters up there this season. Have to so some research and find what fits the wallet and work decent. As for the SD cards what would be a good size? Appreciate the info. That sounds like a good deal, I will look into it. Oh, and you know I have a Tractor Supply near by, Glenmont.

I know that. Hell, you can do boots on the ground patterning of deer and then day it all changes. So, I will look or into the Stealth.

No need for high quality, just a rough look at any bucks in the area. Just want to up her chances over mine. I will still sit my spots and not place a cam. This has me all but sold on the idea. I can only get two, and if I buy them, they will be placed to get her on a buck. The make a day of it to check the cams could also be a day to make sure the rifles are still dialed in, and have a nice lunch at the camp my buddy and I made.

Is that a Red Eye? Or just juice and scapes?

I am not a huge fan of using trail cams. I have never used one, and to be honest, the thought barely ever crosses my mind. With the exception of asking once f they would be good for a security cam. With the wife hunting this season and she will only hunt the private land we have access to in the NZ, as the season approaches, I have been thinking of buying a couple to try and get a better set up for her sits. I can't make the now hour and 1/2 drive ( used to be 40 minutes ) to scout on a regular bases. So trail cams seem to be an option I may have to live with. So.................... Do the cams come with SD Cards or do I have to buy them separately? If I get them out in early Sept. will that be enough time to get some insight on the regular season opener in the NZ 10/20? How good are the sale or budget cams? I am looking these two: Primos Stealth Any feedback would be appreciated.

whats your first date for hunting this fall?
DirtTime replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in General Hunting
I have been a out a few times after red squirrel since the Spring turkey season, not many around me where you can hunt the Summer. I always try to get out 9/1 for grays. Also trying to work in a camping trip on private land the weekend of 9/8 for scouting and trying to get a better set up for the wife to hunt come the regular season up north. If possible ( still waiting for my buddy to get back to me ) I want to be in the NZ for the bow opener 9/27. If not, 10/1 will first time for deer. Weather dependent, last season it was great to be out there early in the bow season, but washing hunting clothes every time I was out due to sweating got a little...... It got to be a PITA. It's hard to determine an exact date when I/we( the wife and I ) will hit the woods, I hunt small game and enjoy it. I hunt deer both in the SZ and NZ. Like many have mentioned, weather plays a big part. Especially on how I am planing this season. -
Whoa! You just floored some of the younger hunters moog, they aren't wearing camo and for sure no scent control. LOL. Really cool pics, thank you for posting them up, love seeing those old pics of days gone by.

Happy birthday Larry! I hope you had some great food and drinks with family and friends.

Oh, I agree. It just gets annoying with people saying we in the "Up-State" area don't vote, when they call out everything North and North-West of NYC and the burroughs "Up State". There's a lot of area and people that don't live in the 'City', not everyone sits by and don't vote. Personally, I think we have people in 'Up State' that vote for our cause more then we have in the big cities.
-
Yep, those too.

You wanna see hunter harassment, start a thread about meat hunters VS horn hunters.

There was a segment on the news this morning about this. I guess there were tweets, and other social media propaganda I don't follow. I guess Cuomo called Trump and stated he would not run against him. I don't know if it's true, but either way, Cuomo is going to win again. People keep blaming UpState for his wins, but the people stating that think all of the state farther north then the City don't vote. That's not true IMO, you look at the major cities in central NY and WNY, the major cities win the state elections here. Anyways, this is from the "Democrat and Constipated". https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/2018/08/13/donald-trump-claims-andrew-cuomo-told-him-he-wouldnt-run-against-him-2020/983487002/
