We have a 39" FS TV we used in the bedroom. Since buying our home last July, we haven't even turned it on. So last week, I decided to get some use out of it and hooked it up to my PC. Taking a little getting used to seeing it was a WS. But looking at maps and watching videos are awesome.

I agree. They even say every once in a while, every deer you kill is a trophy to you. Biz, I am not trying to argue with you. I just think there should be more to hunting then killing the biggest rack deer. Those record books mean nothing to me. Nor does the "score" of a buck. I hunt because I love hunting, I love eating venison, and just being out there in the woods.

So, I say again, who cares about P-Y or B&C? You wanna be famous? Just post on the web.

Pope-Young, Boone And Crockett....Does it matter? You want to get famous in this age of social media and electronic gadgets, start a Youtube channel.

Happy birthday.

It's actually the line separating the Northern and Southern ZONES. The "Southern Tier" is judged mainly by personal point of views on where people hunt. The reason the gun season is so long is because most of the Northern Zone isn't farm land, it's the ADK Park and it's a huge area of woods, tough woods at that. The season is longer because most areas do not allow shooting a doe, and have AR's. There are areas in the Northern Zone you could hunt for years and never even see a legal buck. So, the long season allows for people who hunt the big woods up there the time to kill a legal buck.

So, if you are going to be the baddest bow hunter on the site, why not beat all the Southern Zone hunters and start in September up north? You have the cash to get a guided hunt, or if you want to go DYI you can stay with your buddies up here. Sounds like you may be a bit scared of your dad getting a bigger racked deer then you, using the ML. Best of luck to the both of you. Rooting for your dad though.

SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
DirtTime replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
That will never change. Arguing is what we do best here in NYS, and especially on this site. Just read that growie, made a lot of sense when looking at the whole picture, not just what's in people's own back yards. -

I can't believe there are 28 pages arguing about a bill that is still in 'Committee' and not passed yet. -
Not yet. Most of the recipes I have found say smoking is the best method to make wings. I might try once the weather gets warmer and start using the grill again.

Hot dogs and tater taughts ( no pic ). Tomorrow, box pizza and homemade hot wings in the deep fryer. Will get a pic for that.

North Dakota Joins Eight other States

There was something on the news the other morning about how far more people are leaving NYS then coming here. If you look up the reasons they are slightly varies, but mainly cost-of-living and taxes. I think it has a lot to do with the completely bias ( crooked ) politicians we have running our state. We have more BS laws about guns then just about any other state, CA and IL being higher then us, I think that's about it. Glad SD went Constitutional Carry. Just another state enacting what the Constitution states. -
Looking for hunting oppurtunities

I agree with Buckmaster7600, You are basically in the foothills of the ADK Park. Also check out Peck Hill State Forest just outside of Meco off 29A. -
I agree. Higher fines, I would say loss of license - but I'm sure many a poacher doesn't even have a hunting license, confiscate weapons where they do not get them back if found guilty, and mandatory jail time after a second offense. Another issue are the poachers who own land, don't bother with a license, and kill game all year. They are out there. Very few if any of these morons get busted. Would love too see poachers get the hammer thrown at them.

Personally, I feel "Constitutional Carry" should be legal in every state. The same way I feel bans on what the "public deems as assault rifles" shroud be reversed. I have no issues with BG checks ( is that unconstitutional , maybe, but known felons or those who are known to have ties to terrorist organizations should not be allowed to own any firearm ). I feel that if you can pass the basic NICS evaluation for a long gun, then you should be allowed the same privilege to own a hand gun. All these BS gun laws we have in the USA are set to stop people from defending their homes and families, and allow criminals to do what ever they want. Kudos to ND for stepping up in a time where we need to be able to defend ourselves! -
There have been cases, many if you look around. Seldom are the maximum penalties given. As for PR, there are more anti-hunters out there then hunters these days, so if they are only interested in keeping their "seat" they will go by the side of what will keep them popular for re-election. In all reality, it won't matter if this passes. The slimy poachers will still poach, trespass, and just do what ever they want. There are no factual statics to look up regarding poachers, because most of them never get caught. I am all for this Bill to get passed! But, I also look at the world in a very realistic manner, it will not stop poachers from doing what they do. Look at the drug trade, you think laws stop them? There will always be people who violate the regulations and laws of hunting, I won't go into to morality issue. Pond scum will always be pond scum. No turning it into daisies.

Just read this, looks good on paper. One of biggest issues with the fines for poaching any animal be it trapping or shooting are the judges. One judge might pass a max penalty, while the next might just do a "Case Dismissed" verdict. Will make the calls in the morning.

Elephant In The Room
DirtTime replied to DirtTime's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Ah! Paying attention! Nice. The last missile test blew up in their farces. Literally! I keep using this term, "Probing". It's not always sending ground troops, NK wants a war. They sat in the backseat for a few years while terrorist organizations did the dirty work. -

Why would Japan pay for anything? What news do you watch? Care to expand on why you think Japan would get involved? I am not going to post links because I think it's about damn time we started thinking for ourselves! You best look at who NK is aligning with. I will give you a hint, "terrorists" . No offense wolc123, but if you really are the religious person you claim to be, then you should be looking at the extreme weather, the wars, and realize what was written in the Bible is coming to fruition. With that said............ I agree, we need to put severe crimp in the panties of Kim Jong-un! This dude had his own half brother killed, so if you think he's not a force to be reckoned with, you are mistaken. -

So you think talks with China will do no good? Trying to talk China into getting Kim under control won't work? I'd really hate to see it escalade into a war. I am not for backing down, I just don't want to see nukes launched from any side. -
So many people up in arms about some serious very valid issues, but many seem to be neglecting one of the other big elephants in the room. How to deal with N-Korea (again). What are your thoughts on handling their missile testing?

Unless you are hunting! Then may the wind always be in your face! Happy St. Patty's Day.

?? Where did the Snow / Weather thread go ??
DirtTime replied to fasteddie's topic in General Chit Chat
About 20" total here ( thought we had more then that, nope ). Tried to get a short video of my dog going from where the excess from the snowblower was frozen over by wind, to the loose snow. Where the pack was, she was able to walk on top, then where the soft snow was she would sink. Even thought it was still cold here and gusts to about 35, the Sun melted a good 2-5" off the top. -
I could never hunt over a feeder or a bait pile for deer in NYS. If I was on a guided hunt out of state where it's legal, I would! I paid to harvest game, so by any means necessary. That's just my personal opinion, and I pass no judgment on anyone who did if it was legal here. If it's legal, do what you want to do. As for corn fields in upstate? Um, we have a lot farms once you venture north beyond NYC. Even out in WNY. So, yes, many people hunt farm land when owned or given permission to do so.Nothing wrong with that either. As for food plots, no law against it, so if yo have the land to plant, the equipment to get it planted, then go for it. I do think large food plots are sort of cheating. If I was ever in the financial way to buy a large parcel of land, I would never cut down sections of forest to plant a food plot. I may clear underbrush and toss out some throw and grow though. Just my thoughts on this one.
