Describe your meaning of the "Southern Tier". It's a very different from area to area on this site. What flag? I am no where nere Oxford.

You all left Walking Tall ( original '73 version ) of your lists talking classic action. What about Missing In Action? Apocalypse Now? Causalities Of War? I am more of a horror buff, so what about The Howling, The Boogey Man ( '80 ), The Burning, The Exorcist ( '73 ), Salem's Lot ( '79 ), The Evil Dead ( '81 ), Pieces ( '82 ), most of the Friday The 13th movies ( except that horrid reboot in '09 ), Hammer Films, Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci. All classic horror movies in writers in their own right. Newer horror? Um, I will have to look at my library to see what's actua;y original and get back to you.

This is some really interesting to learn about. I found this while looking up camps in areas I have been in. It's probably private land by now. http://digitalcollections.archives.nysed.gov/index.php/Detail/Object/Show/object_id/4032 I always wondered why some state lands, we have huge pine areas that are all in rows. Like I said, this if fun learning about. Thank's to those who have added something to make me look for. Wish we had more people in my area with info on this.

Happy Easter with no shame. Eye bleach may be required
DirtTime replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
See, this is why it's funny and creepy at the same time. It's flat out hilarious you did it, but again, when I see you in that suit "The Bunny Man Massacre" movies come trotting through my head. Happy Easter o'mighty pink bunny! May you and your daughter put a couple nice tom's to rest. -
Yes, Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. Nice place, we plan on going back and walking more of the trails over the Summer. Some good info and history about the place here: http://www.dec.ny.gov/education/1835.html Too bad the current DEC stepped in and closed it down as a game farm and zoo. It was time well spent over there. Better then going to relatives and listening to people degrade one another all day.

They did some pretty awesome accomplishments! I wish they were still around, maybe our state hunting lands would get cleaned up from time to time and logged once in awhile.

Took a short hike this morning. hard to tell from the pic, but this deer was only about 15 feet from us. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk

Steak and clams on the grill. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk

We took a few mile hike, seen a bunch of deer and turkey. We were going to bake a ham, but due to the nice weather steaks and Maine clams. Happy Easter everyone. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk

It was better then what the critics had to say. Then again, critics are nothing more then lame a$$ bullies who only care about their POV. My only major issue was the Joker having a "grill". Some things shouldn't be "urbanized"! Margot Robbie nailed Harley Quinn. The outfit not so much, but the attitude, spot on.

Learning that. It also appears that many of the small lakes and ponds were created by them. Like I said, just getting into it, but from only reading a small amount so far, this is some great reading and pretty informative.

Civilian Conservation Corps. I was unaware of this organization until today. While looking up Five Rivers Environmental Center ( we are going hiking there tomorrow ) I came across the name of the organization. http://www.dec.ny.gov/education/1835.html Just starting to read more about this, but, so far I find it pretty interesting. Appears it got over political at then end ( what doesn't ? ). http://www.ccclegacy.org/CCC_Camps_New_York.html Looks like a huge amount of info about CCC, and even a book I hope I can find to buy. Figured I would share as it's about the history of land conservation/management, protection and growth of varied species of critters.

Congrats on a monster first trout.

SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
DirtTime replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
You are right wooly! I have no right to have an opinion! You are the man wooly! I have no right to say anything! So I will bow out of conversations concerning antler restriction. -

Well, the DEC makes decisions on non-factual information, and the people suck it up. So what does it matter who has killed a deer or not? Why should it matter if I have killed a deer or not? I still have a right to my opinion. In fact, we all have a right to our own opinion. Cry like a baby because you shot a deer you hadn't planed to kill on your own time! -

Um, again seriously? So you want to shorten the gun season a week, and expand the bow season a week. To make sure gun hunters don't get a chance to hunt prime time. So, let me get this clear. This is what you are proposing, the bow season would be close to two months, and the gun season in the SZ ( because that's where most of the people hunt on this site ) would be limited to two weeks. You show me one solid reason why that's not elitist! -
Which post? I am not getting defensive. If I am, I don't mean to be, just sick of being told how to hunt and what I should and can hunt, by the DEC and other hunters! I think every hunter who buys their tags, should be allowed to fill those tags how ever they see fit. If I want to shoot a spike, why should that bother anyone? I bought my tags, paid the same price as everyone else. Same goes if you want to only shoot older bucks or larger racks, you bought your tags, hunt and kill what makes you happy. I just don't like as someone else mentioned, "Being told what to hunt" by anyone, including the DEC. DEC might do the best they can, but they certainly aren't on top of most things IMO. As long as you are hunting legally, I don't give a rats tail hair how you hunt or what to choose to kill.
-
I get it, and you don't pay attention! Learn to read! My issue with AR's is it should up to the hunter to be able to choose what they want to hunt and kill. I have stated that over and over again! If you want to only kill older or bigger racked bucks, I don't care! If you want to shoot younger spikes or 4 points, I don't care! We buy out tags, so we should be able to shoot w/e we want no matter how you hunt! Pay attention to what people post before you run your font!
-
Agree again. Therein lies the irony of AR's! It's OK for those all for the AR's to tell us what to hunt, but, go against the grain of how they think and "Bammo!".
-
That's the same point I keep trying to make. Let the hunter decide what they want to kill! Don't force regulations down peoples throats!

While I was out today I bought a light-weight open face rod and reel set up. With all the streams around I figured why not. Not top of the line but gear, I am sure it will be fine. I set it up with some 4# test line ( same way I set up years ago ), and picked up a few spoons. I have mentioned before, most of my fishing gear is aimed at Bass, Eye's, Pike, etc. Anyway.... I don't see the streams clearing up anytime soon, or the levels going down. So, my question is: Any advice on how to fish streams for trout in really muddy water?

Where are your "big woods"? I am talking ground level. Standing eye to terrain, where can you see 300yds in the woods?
