Guessing another brow beating. But here goes anyway... Not sure whats so hard to get that I didn't hunt for many years,, but still did a ton of camping, in car sites and the woods/back country. Even nights with just a tarp under the bag to keep dampness out of the bag, a-frame shelters from a tarp, and a few times just a lean two set up with tarps. I even tried a hammock set up once, I hated that! The gear associated with back country camping will be the same gear you need for hunting. The only exception is you will be carrying a bow or gun. Do you need every tent, sleeping bag, I have ever used? Sorry, can't recall all of them, it was always what I could afford, so Coleman , Texsport, Ozark Trail ETC. My pack was a Med. ALICE pack with a frame I bought at a used military gear place, it was heavy as hell and cumbersome, but I made due with it. I cant carry all that crap on my back anymore, so a few years ago, I bought a quad to haul gear with on private land. That's when I altered my gear list to be a of a more comfortable camping style, like boating in: - Don't use this anymore, but my backpacking tent is a Texsport 2 Person Camo Trail Tent ( a cheapy pup tent ) - Sleeping pad that I don't use anymore is a basic foam pad. - Current tent, I would not recommend for cold weather, Texsport Headquarters Camo 9x9 dome. Enough room for two cots and gear full gear, but I wouldn't suggest using a heater in it. It's actually only two season. - Current cot, Ozark Trail Aluminum Cot. I chose this because it has rounded legs and would be better for a basic tent floor. I was right and wrong, I still needed to put a blanket on the floor of the tent with the sides rolld up a bit because I don't sleep like a log, I toss and turn a lot, and after one tip over, the blanket was put on the floor to keep that from happening again. - Current Sleeping bag, a Coleman straight bag ( meaning not mummy style ) rated to 20 degress. - Current Mess Kit, an old Coleman stainless, had this for about 17 years, got it using 'Marlboro Miles'. Has stood the test of time pretty well. - Current Hatchet, Coleman Camp Axe. - Current Knife, whatever I decide to take 4 of. Same with flashlights. - Current cooking stove ( if we don't just use the fire ), Ozark Trail Single Burner Camp Stove. - Current method to start a fire, always keep a few Bics around, and dryer lint works real well. Not sure, when, but I learned about the dryer lint, and making lint/cotton ball coated in wax fire starters. I do remember it was way before I had Internet access. I learned that from a library. Remember those? The not puffing your own breath into an air mattress I learned while looking up if an air mattress or cot was preferred. Those who were going minimalist used those lightweight air mattresses, said they learned using your own lungs to inflate the mat would cause moisture to form inside the mattress, leading it to freeze up. If you think about it, that makes sense in cold weather.

Not for nothing, she never went away. Nor did Obama. Obama even bought a house in DC to make sure he could continue to pollute America with his extreme left agenda. Isn't Obama the only POTUS that kept his campaign committee in-tack for the entire 8 years he was the POTUS? It's not just Trump who will be dealing with the fallout! It's everyone who voted for him and supports his agenda. -
I know this is a few weeks getting back, but here's a few other tips. Seeing you have a canoe and are leaning that way, I would still suggest a 3-season tent. Just for the extra room for gear. I really would get one that you can put a cot in just to keep you well off the ground. Take an extra blanket, fold it up, and put that between the cot and your sleeping bag. It will help with warmth on the really chilly/cold nights. If you go with a smaller tent, I would still make sure you have room for gear. Here's a huge tip! If you go with an inflatable air mattress or sleeping pad, get an air pump! Trying to use your own breath to blow them up in cold temps isn't a good idea. The warm air from your lungs will cause the air inside the mattress or pad to freeze up due to the moisture content. No matter what you decide on, make sure people know where you are, take the precautions for safety, and enjoy your hunt! Let us know where you went and how you made out! Good luck!.

SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
DirtTime replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
First, is hasn't passed yet. Getting your under garnets of choice in a bunch won't do any good. With that said, it's NY, so it probably will pass. Do I agree with it, NO! Second, look at this site! Most of the people on here won't shoot anything less then a 6 or 8. So why the uproar? Look at the posts, and how many people have stated "I let a real nice 6 pass today, waiting for the big boy I have on cam.". This plays right into hunters telling other others to let the little guys have a pass and only take mature bucks. So what's the big deal? Why complain about a possible law that will allow the smaller bucks to thrive? As grampy hit on, it should be a choice. But, people get ticked off even when things go their way. Go figure. -

Awesome replies on this one. Nice to see most just use the cams as a means to get out and scout the areas you see deer in.
-
Hunt if there were no trail cams, and you had to have boots on the ground as your only way of scouting?

What if there was no Internet and you had to make your political decisions based on news papers and magazines, or the debates on TV? Here's a step farther back in time. What would you if you base your political stand if there was no TV and powdered wigs were still worn?

Pretty sure many caught that some people decided to protest Presidents Day, to try and send a message to President Trump. Why this day? Is this the outcome of our Nation not teaching American History anymore? Don't they realize it's day to celebrate ALL the presidents, past and present? Are they to self righteous and self pretentious that they don't realize they protested Lincoln and their precious Obama in the process? http://www.history.com/topics/holidays/presidents-day# I wish I could say it was comical in it's sense of stupidity, but I can't! Every time I think of the left ( and folks on the right ) and the stupidity they keep acting out I think of this movie: Idiocracy. If you haven't seen it watch it.

Got this a couple weeks ago, I count 11. Sorry for the bad pic, my phone doesn't have a great camera, and I was looking through my windshield.

DirtTime replied to Rattler's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
What 'EXACTLY' are liberal values and ideologies? Serious question! Is someone a liberal because they don't follow a totalitarian way of thinking? Are they a liberal because they listen to music or watch movies with gay or lesbian musicians or actors/actresses in them? Is someone a liberal if they have a gay or lesbian friend? Is someone a liberal just because they choose to not eat meat? Is someone a liberal if they watch sports even though the some on the right don't approve? The definitions to words these days makes no common sense. You cannot legislate certain things! Most of the right are trying to fight against socialism, imperialism, communism, and totalitarianism. Being told how to think, what our morals should be, and that someones ideas are not up to certain standards is all of the things I just mentioned. -

I stopped watching at 6:55! Is this woman mentally ill, confused, on drugs, or just a flat out hypocritical moron? She doesn't even understand that everything she spewed was everything she and her cohorts are doing! Seriously, how stupid can she be? A teacher! I wonder if she has tenure? Any teacher acting like this and enticing violence would/should be fired in most circumstance. She is enticing racism and doesn't care. What would happen if a white person said some of the crap these radicals spew? OMG! He/she would end up in jail, beat half to death, or worse, end up dead. No where in the constitution does it state or outline "Freedom to be hateful violent dip sticks". Civility is lost on the left it seems. It's now violent chaotic actions from the left, verses the right trying to make America, well, America again. The left is violently rioting, and the right is boycotting sports and coffee shops. Hmm..... Let that sink in for a few minutes. I am not enciting violence, advocating it, endorsing it, or condoning it. Get of your device and make a point. It's easy to talk tough and complain on the web, it's not that easy to get off your ass and do something. -

Wow. I was just busting your balls. I guess you have had one to many Jennies, as usual. Don't you have some fake accounts to create? -
You are a sheep! Blindly following a violent and uneducated mass of people and a society of social media who wouldn't know an acorn from a peanut. Carry on though, with every post you make, you make it clear you are a threat to this countries security, you probably have a blue dress and visited Obama.

Sincerely saddened to hear about the loss of a hunting partner, and family member Larry. Pets make an impact on us like no human can. Loosing them hurts. You have great memories of hunting and other great times! Remember those and her spirit will will remain in your heart.

Yet you had time to chime in on this. Aww. How sweet of you! LOL Wanna be my man crush Valentine? Why did you feel the need to take a break from your pizza rolls and Red Bull, or hypocritical views on everything to post on this thread? Shouldn't you be causing chaos past your bed time? Isn't there a rally calling for more violence you should be attending? Jealous? You love to put your own spin on everything don't you? Let me explain something to you about REAL AMERICANS! You know the the people you hate so much! We don't need to pay anyone to do what we can do ourselves. Another thing, it was just a conversation thread. Apparently you just cannot have an adult conversation with anyone. Your bridge is that way ---------------> ! I was kind enough to call the Salvation Army and have a couch delivered so you can get out of moms basemenst once in a while. You are right! But, at the same time, you are wrong. In this NWO, we have to pay attention to the people who live around us. I can't believe this thread went south like Uptown Redneck will when ICE gets a fix on him/her. -
I was kidding Zem. But, I do not watch award shows. I lost faith in Metallica with the "Black Album". They went to mainstream. Now, I will have to look tomorrow to see this performance with Lady Gagme. I have a copy that a friend made for me of their demo No Life Till Leather from vinyl to cassette, it's barely audable, but having it is a piece of history as Dave Mustaine was still in the band at that time. If I remember I'll take a pic of the tape and post it. They really haven't showed me anything since Master Of Puppets. I have to say Kill 'Em All is my favorite album from them, with a dead lock tie between Ride The Lighting and Master Of Puppets. ...And Justice For All was OK and acceptable at best. All Hail the big 4! Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, and Metallica! Seen all but Megadeth live. Anthrax and Slayer both twice. Any who...I did have that beer so cheers!
-
I'm boycotting the Grammys! Screw those people and their non American values! Wait........I....OK, I have not had a beer in a few days, please forgive my honest but not unjust rant. I think I will go grab a Yuengling and settle myself.

I thought about linking to Robins threads, but he canoes in, and wasn't sure if sodfather had a canoe or boat to access lands. If you can ATV ( which isn't allowed on most state land ), snowmobile ( a few state lands allow it ), or boat in, that opens up a whole new world of possibilities and comforts. Big canvas wall tents and stoves! A cot or even a small folding bed. Real food!

If he's disabled, it's not physical, it would have to be mental. Sorry, I know I shouldn't say that, but after talking to him a few times........ Claims to be some kind of DeeJay down in the City and makes $2.500 a week. But, he rarely goes anywhere. LOL Anyway, I just don't get it. He's not the only one that makes me laugh, but he sure is in the top three. LOL -
Depends on the season and how far back in you want to go. Early bow, a 3 season 2 man tent or hammock will do for shelter. I would go with the tent to make sure you have a dry place for gear, but to each their own. A few flashlights and a head lamp ( spare batteries ), a good first aid kit, maps and a compass are the top priorities. A good sleeping pad, a solid cold weather sleeping bag ( if it's rated to 20, it's really only good to about 35 ), packable folding saw, a good solid knife that can help cutting wood, plenty of spare rope or 50/50 cord ( don't skimp on the para cord if you go that way! ), perhaps an alcohol or trioxine stove, plenty of water proof matches and a couple lighters, some sort of cook kit ( stay away from aluminum-go stainless at minimum! ), and of course water and food. Food is the tricky one, you can buy dehydrated meals like the Mountain House stuff ( which are actually pretty good and somewhat affordable ), but you will need to pack a lot more water to make them. Or, you can pack thing like microwave rice ( you can heat in a cook pan ) and jerky, this will get you buy and is lighter to pack in. Severe cold and snow is a whole different game! You best have your shit wired tight if going out in this! The gear is pretty much the same, but you want gear rated for severe cold. Check out this YouTube Channel. He gives honest and tested reviews of the gear he tries. Most of it's aimed at bad weather. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheOutdoorGearReview

My neighbor cracks me up! He's late 20's early 30's if I remember right. Has a son about 12. Thursday, he paid one of the young ladies in the park to shovel for him, and tonight, he has people shoveling for him. WTF? I have a really bad back and I still get $#! done. I might have to do a few trips out to get it done, but I get it done. What sort of person that age with no disabilities and a perfectly healthy son pays someone to shover for them? LOL! Maybe he should outsource and only pay 1/3 the going price for snow removal by hand. LOL Only in America! I bet he voted for Hillery, if he voted at all.

Cleaned this up as much as possible for this site. Elderly women is frustrated with her husband because he never wants to make love any more. So she decides to go to a sexy lingerie shop and buy some items hoping her hubby notices and takes action. The sales women sends her home with a teddy. That night she puts on the teddy and stands in from of the TV. Her hubby says "Get out of the way I'm watching sports center!". She goes upstairs more depressed then ever. The next day she goes back to the lingerie shop and this time the sales woman sends her home with a bustier and stockings. That night she puts everything on and again stands in front of the TV. Her hubby says "Get out of the way I'm watching sports center!". She goes upstairs crying. The next day she goes back to the lingerie store a bit miffed. "You keep selling me things that are not working! I need a guarantee this time!", she barks. So the sales woman thinks for a minute and sells her a pair of crotchless edible panties, stating "If this doesn't work, nothing will.". The woman goes home, puts on the panties and once again stands in front of the TV. She says to her hubby "These are strawberry flavored! You want a taste?". The husband looks at her and at the panties and yells "Hell no woman! Look what that thing did to your underwear!".
