  1. Small beef loin, left over rice and salad ( not in pic ).
  2. Why would it offend anyone? Looks pretty cool and being able to let the string down without firing it is a huge plus for many. Hefty price tag on that bad boy. Enjoy it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ROuTg_lZss
  3. Define your version of the "Southern Tier". Lotta land for sale around my area, and in some pretty nice huntings areas. I would patrol the land a couple times a day/night for ya as ling as I had rights to hunt the land.
  4. Cod breaded with spicy panko, white rice with chives/garlic/basil/EVO, and tossed salad. I was going to take a pic, but I feared taking flak for presentation because the salad was not on the plate with the fish and rice, but in a bowl on the side.
  5. I see the point on what you are saying, and agree with most of it. Especially the part in red. This is true on a certain part as well. The issues arise when you have people hunting WNY and have no idea what is going on in other areas. There are public land in my area that aren't hit that hard because it involves driving to more remote land. I'm not even talking the ADK's. I have said this before, Johnny Apple knows his chit in Area A, but he knows nothing about Charly Seed in area B, and vice versa. This site has more hunters who actively post from WNY then just about anywhere else in the state. The other ratio is mainly from down near the city and those areas. I get that many have first hand knowledge of deer populations being down for their area. I get the lousy neighbor syndrome. The down side to shoving new regs down peoples throats is not every one is a poacher or killing every dear that moves in their sight path. I stated that I was getting restless and ready to just start filling my tags last season. I didn't. I still let does with fawns get a pass, and I couldn't bring myself to shoot small deer that were barely bigger then my dog. I ate tag soup and have no problems with the decisions I made to not shoot at certain deer. I am by no means an antler hunter, yet I still have something inside that will not kill small deer. The DEC makes the rules, we either follow them or we don't. What about letting the gun hunters have some time in the already existing late season? At some point there need to be compromises from all ends of the argument. Just sayin'.
  6. Been trying to figure out the yelps, barks, and sounds myself. Not sure if you have read this, if not it's worth a read. http://www.adirondackalmanack.com/2014/03/coyotes-decoding-yips-barks-howls.html
  7. Whats' wrong with people filling legal tags? We pay for them, so now we aren't supposed to use them? I have said this before, the issue with DMP's is the selfish people who have no intent to use them, apply for them anyway, keeping those of us who would use them in certain areas from getting them. I could mention a few names, but I won't! If you don't plan to shoot a does or button buck, don't apply for the permits! That's not 100 true. I have close to 200 ( over all, about 80 acres is seesawed around camps making it tough hunting for the rifle season ) acres of private land to hunt in the NZ. 100 acres of that I have spent a ton of time in. Learning travel routes, what water source the use at what time of day, and bedding areas. Never had an issue with trespassers during the hunting season up there. Knock on wood!!!!!!! Not sure why a longer gun season would make so many irate, on average it's three for the SZ. The bow season is how long? You can use a bow during the regular seasons, in both the NZ and SZ. So what stops people from bow hunting during that time? The public land thing is just irritating. If you are stuck hunting a bad public land area, sorry, but to be honest that's all on you! There are thousands and thousands of acres of public land to hunt in this state. There are many areas that don't get a ton of pressure, if any. People just need to be willing to drive to them. Get a few good hunting buddies you trust, rent a hotel/motel room, chip in to buy a canvas wall tent and a wood stove and spend a week deer camp hunting public land. Anyway, all your rants and raving on here won't change the seasons do a damn thing to press your personal opinion on hunting seasons.
  8. I thought the purple thing was beets. Where's the steak? You mean that dried up w/e that looks like dried up plantains in the metal Spam can thingy? Just trying to figure this out Biz. Not busting your beets.
  9. I have had my M&P out few times for hunting. The one thing I have an issue with is carrying it. Due the style of the rifle, there really are only two ways to carry it, cradle or actual tactical carry. I guess if I had a carry handle on the receiver I could use a trail carry, but I don't have a handle, and really don't want one. Anyone know of a solid basic sling to put on the rifle? I don't want one of those tac/one point jobbie slings, just a basic rifle sling like I have on my bolt actions ( I know for the M&P I will need the attachment to lock onto the front rail ). I looked around, and most of the ones I came across were way out of my price range. Anyone have any insight?
  10. Ricotta stuffed ravioli smothered in our homemade sauce with fresh parmesan grated on top,
  11. One of my favorites when I used to drink liquor.
  12. Looks the makings of a few Manhattans?
  13. Should have bought a bag of ice to go with the beer, could have used it in a small cooler near you to stay off the foot, and also used it to ice the foot. Win/win.
  14. I went out this morning for a couple hours. The plan I made a few days ago to go out for ruffed grouse and/or pheasant got sidetracked. So, I just took the .22 out for squirrel. I came up over a steep grade that opens to a small clearing with a few scrub brush. Broke the plane and two rabbits took off like rockets. Even if I had the shotgun I would not have gotten a shot. Never saw a single tree rat. Figures, deer hunt they drive me insane. Hunt specifically for the buggers and they become ghosts at times. Should have had the 12Ga, but I just really like hunting with my .22LR these days. Oh well, coulda, woulda, shoulda. Better to be out there on beautiful sunny day then sitting on the couch debating about it.
  15. Glad you didn't get seriously hurt.
  16. I am not even going to ask what either of you were doing at what appears to be a nude beach, or why you wold snap a pic to share..... I will say I prefer TF in the bunny suit, there are just some moons that should nit be viewed by the human eye.
  17. They did sound irritated, but I'm still learning all the different sounds they make for their mood ( for lack of a better phrasing ). They don't bother me much hearing them light up at a distance, still a bit creepy, but I agree airdale, when they light up close it's enough make you almost make a mess in your tidy whitees.
  18. Just took the dog out, yotes were making a racket in the ravine behind the park across the road. The only time I have heard them closer in the past 6 months was when they found the dead doe left on the side of the road ( hit by a vehicle I believe ) about a 1/4 mile away, that was something to listen too. I hear them romping the fields around the mountain I hunted last fall, usually between 10 PM and 3 AM. Not sure what they were after tonight that brought them into a fairly populated area, maybe the possum population just got taken down by a few. Sounded like 50 closing from tho directions, so I would say maybe 5-8 in reality. Still not used to hearing them on a regular basis from my home.
  19. I caught it, but was hesitant to really say anything. It may have been a typo or they way it was worded, was trying to give the benefit of a doubt. I cannot imagine the sites most voiced religious member talking about shooting someone for trespassing in this day and age. If it wasn't worded wrong or some sort of typo................. As to the main reason of the post, you can put posted signs up every 5 feet and the low life's will still ignore the signs. Some just have no respect for anyone else's property. I am pretty lucky to have the private land I get to hunt up north, never seen anyone on that land or the neighboring land I have access to that didn't have a right to be there during the hunting season.
  20. LOL. No way, I don't even use those flat bottom shells. It's cheating!
  21. Nah, should have cleaned up the excess of the plate before taking the pic. LOL
  22. Just thought of something sort of disturbing...... I know TF's likes a good horror flick now and again, there's a movie called Bunnyman. Watch out WNY, he might be making a sequel.
  23. WOW! I will never be the same watching A Christmas Story again. If only you had one of those leg lamps in the pic........ If you hadn't had a beer you should have a few now. I know I will, and I wasn't planning on drinking tonight. LOL
