  1. Yep, my cousins 100 acres in woodhull, that he sold 5 years ago. The hunting camp sits on a 5 acre field that slopes down to a crick at the base of a hill. The side of the hill was open like a horse shoe surrounded by woods. At the top of the opening where our trail goes into woods and leads to the top of the hill is a pine tree. I sat there my first time out and missed 5 deer that morning. Now at 16 I didn’t have a clue on deer patterns/ funnels etc. But over the years that became the best spot to hunt, it’s a 100 yard wide funnel of woods that connected big woods on both sides. Myself and wife killed a bunch of deer in that funnel. Actually that’s where my wife killed her first deer about 40 yards up from where I sat. I hunted that property for 30 years, it was a sad day when he sold it. He did offer it to us at a good price but we didn’t want acquire that type of debt that late in life .
  2. We shot Scott’s for years , and I started looking into the Carter’s quickie 1 plus with the interchangeable springs for the trigger. Bought one lightly used and really liked the adjustability, now thats all we shoot.
  3. After the season try one with a strap connection to the head, I myself believe Carter’s are the best release made. BowmanMike makes a very good point also with face contact.
  4. Enjoyed your story in the harvest thread. congratulations, I don’t want to spoil it for you. But gun kills will just seem to easy now..
  5. I feel your pane, I did our porch roof last weekend , 2 days worth. tore it down to the rafters, . But I knew I had to get it done that weekend . My back and knees were screaming at me Sunday night .
  6. Just wanted to see if I was the only one who hadn’t made it out yet? Will be hitting it hard this weekend pending no insane hot temps.
  7. Same here did not bow hunt when we married. Started few yrs after.
  8. Spitfires always have a small entrance hole and a huge exit .
  9. With the spitfires being over the top expandable’s they technically don’t fully open until they pass through the hide of deer and open on the inside. Do you have cut marks from the blades on the backside of your target ?
  10. So they were not leaving cut marks in the cardboard as the head went through it ? I’ve shot regular spitfires for years from my compound and the sudden stop out the backside of a target will close the blades .
  11. Never stopped eating it, sugar that the food manufacturers add to every thing is the real cause of many peoples problems.
  12. Upstate , I know it sounds weird but try it it works. Both wife and i have done it.
  13. So wife and I are in Niagara falls for our 28th wedding anniversary today and tomorrow. We've been together for 29 1/2 years , I still can’t believe that’s she’s put up with me for this many years. So glad I found her..
  14. Teaspoon or 2 of mustard will help when they hit ..
  15. I know this , i didn't say that weather triggers the rut. If it’s warmer than typical the rutting action during the day will slow down if not stop.
  16. Expecting to see some bloody arrows in a few hours. Good luck to all ..
  17. I do not have a 1100 for sale , but 8 weeks ? Wow. Are the building you a new rifle from scratch?
  18. Every situation has to be evaluated and a decision has to be made by the shooter. My longest shot was a ranged 43 yards , deer was feeding on a bush broadside relaxed. I watched this deer for a bit and wasn’t going to shoot , but I thought about it and I had been shooting a ton that year and knew I could make the shot. So I pulled my range finder out ranged the deer, put my range finder back, picked my bow up off the hook , connected my release, drew settled into the shot , relaxed and made a perfect shot as if I was shooting in my back yard. Deer never knew what hit him. On one off my shortest shots easily a 10-12 yard shot I missed . I had heard this deer coming in from a distance and had my bow and myself ready . she stopped in front of my ladder and as I bent at my waist for that low heart shot, she saw me move , I was on her heart low and I released . She reacted and my arrow stuck in the dirt . between her reflexes and me rushing the shot it didn’t work out. Every hunt is always different, we learn and make adjustments as we go. A man has to know his limitations.
  19. Ok guys, agree to disagree. This is live from the woods, you all were getting me excited thinking some one had shot one or posted some good photos with all the posts. Keep on subject folks...
  20. Ok, holy shit. The before is just unreal, but major kudos to the doctors that put his face back together. That is unreal..
