  1. Me too! Rob will send it this weekend! That's my prediction!
  2. For the second time in two days, my mailbox was hit by a plow truck! I'm friggin pissed now! Never had a problem with this before. I let it go the first time, and rebuilt it. Even put a reflector on it yesterday, along with orange surveyors tape! So maybe this idiot is playing games? C'mon man! Not sure what can be done, but I'm reporting this to the local state highway department. Rant over.
  3. Here ya go Larry. Total of over 30 inches here. These pic's were taken yesterday morning. Got a good amount after this. I was up this morning at 5, snowblowing and shoveling. At work by 9. I've had enough. I'm tired and sore! When is spring???
  4. Oh boy......... I was thinking the same thing. Even had mis spelled words in the pm I got. And has been accusing others of having multiple names on here as well. This is all getting much too weird for me. Think I need to find that ignore feature for the first time.
  5. Jerry, did he tell you he's lived in Brazil? And had lots of snake stories?
  6. OP sent me a PM last week over the rattlesnake thread.
  7. Nope. Got the Home Depot special for $35. Had a section of 4x4 here. Did the work myself. Total cost $35. Big difference though between Albany and Westchester county's! And thanks Rob.
  8. Over 24 inches and still snowing hard here in Altamont. Will be well over 30 inches before it's done. Just saw, another intense band of snow is settling right over us now. Had to replace my mailbox too. The plow guy got a little overzealous, the bastid! Pretty sore tonight.
  9. At this point we have well over a foot of snow. Still coming down hard. The worst of this storm is yet to come, tomorrow afternoon and into tomorrow night. Will definitely be well over two feet before all is said and done here. I know this is nothing compared to what you Tug Hill guys see. But a pretty substantial storm for this part of the state.
  10. Congratulations Fletch!!!! Way to stick it out under less than ideal conditions, and get it done! Way to go sir!
  11. There is no excuse for this "hunter" !! He should be prosecuted, and do hard time! My grandson and I had a monster buck standing on the top of a ridge on Saturday. Only thing we could see behind him was sky. I called off the shot. Easy call. No idea where that bullet would have ended up had my grandson missed, or had a pass through. This non shot, is stressed at every hunter ed course we give! I sincerely hope your neighbor fully recovers. My prayers to him and his family.
  12. Besides music, some of my other hobbies are..... Ice fishing. Bass, trout, walleye and pan fishing. Boating. Hand loading rifle cartridges. Farming and food plots at farm property. Along with gardening at home. Hunter Education. And mentoring new hunters. Shooting archery. Shooting rifles at the range. Head of archery committee at sportsman's club. Going to all my grandson's baseball and football games. Helping family and friends with anything, anytime. Road trips with Mrs grampy, who says I have way too many damn hobbies! Some really great responses so far!!! Keep em coming guys and girls!
  13. C'mon buddy, I'm pulling for ya! As well as all who are out there!
  14. Nothing here yet in the hilltowns of Albany county, but the radar shows it's close. About 19 degrees. Forecasting up to a couple feet of snow here before it all ends Tuesday morning. We were supposed to have a family dinner today. Put it off to next week. Just me and Mrs grampy keeping warm by the fire. Will go out and snowblow and shovel after each ten inches or so to keep up with it. No big deal. This ain't my first snowstorm! I need to see a pic of Biz's $600 mailbox!!!!!
  15. Wishing you well on the surgery, and your rehab. Follow Drs orders and don't over do it! You will feel so much better in a few weeks!
  16. Deer season is pretty much over for me. Tagged out, got two nice bucks, was a great season! Now on to playing music! Got a big solo gig coming up in a couple weeks. A private party I've done for a few years now. Last year had well over 300 people there. They say more will be there this year! Cool! And they pay well. So I need to get in shape to give em their moneys worth! Been getting away from playing gigs for awhile now. Figured, "hell your just to old". Haven't played in a band in years, and don't care to anymore. But have helped out, and filled in on occasion when asked. I do enjoy going downstairs to play for myself, or at a campfire. But was thinking tonight, I may just book some parties and restaurant/bar gigs for this summer? I still get calls to do em. Hey....why not! I'm not dead yet! I play stuff from the 50s to some current stuff. Hank to Bruno Mars. Country, bluegrass, folk, rock, oldies, fast, slow any way ya want me to go. With an original or two thrown in. Seems to work. Almost always get asked to come back? Guess when I dont get asked to come back, then maybe then I'll be too old? What are some of your hobby's not associated with hunting?
  17. Warmed up turkey, gravy and stuffing! Yum!!!! I look forward to this, almost as much as the big dinner its self!!!
  18. Congratulations my friend! Those smiles tell the story. So cool on so many levels!
  19. If you will be going through the Albany area, I got a box or two of the Remington Copper Sabots I'll give to you.
  20. That will be so cool! Make some memories out there with your two favorite girls!! Have fun, and good luck my friend!
  21. Got family things today and tomorrow. Will clean, organize and put away hunting gear too. If we get the nearly two feet of wet, heavy snow they are forcasting, that will put an end to the season for us. Being tagged out, I could only use a landowners DMP anyways. With two bucks in the freezer, don't need anymore meat. And my grandson is only a maybe, as far as next Saturday morning. So at this point, 2019 looks like a wrap! So many good memories from this season though. From bowhunting with Moog and Carver, and my hunting partner shooting a great WNY buck. To coming within a whisker of my grandson getting a shot at a true giant yesterday. A great year to remember! On to some predator hunting after the holidays!
  22. We called it a day, and we're home. With the heavy snow coming we pulled three blinds after our hunt. Grandson came within a couple seconds of shooting a giant buck! He was running some doe's around. We'd see bits and pieces of him but no shots. And at one point he stood at the top of the bank, at just over 200 yards. Zach was on him good, but there was no back drop behind him, and I called off the shot. He then ran to the left of the cut. A few minutes later, more doe's came from that same area! And then here he comes, over the bank heading straight towards us at the same place I shot my buck at about 175 yards!!! Told Zach to get on him! Get the safety off! And just as I heard the safety click off, I gave a loud Baaa! He then turned immediately to our right and was gone to the other side of the cut...... CRAP!!! Not sure he even heard me as the buck was chasing a doe. Hung in there for almost two more hours......nothing. Zach was pretty cold at that point, and so was I. And he really showed his toughness, hanging in as long as he did! He also had plans for the afternoon anyways. But we did see deer! And he at least got to see the biggest buck he's ever seen! Just two more seconds and perhaps he would have got a real close look at him........from the ground???? We'll never know. Plan to try again next weekend. Great hunt with a great kid!
  23. Seen 10 deer including a BIG buck. Couldn't get on him fast enough before he was gone. We are both cold. Gonna pull out soon to warm up..
