  1. $37 And Biz comes to install on Christmas Eve!
  2. I think he was a bit misguided in his never ending quest for attention. And apparently he's still on a quest for more. Probably a very lonely man. Had he gone into the GTG that was going on, instead of taking pictures of members vehicles, he could have made some friends. Instead, he chose to ostracize himself. Why? He is the only one who can answer that. Not to mention, never adding one thing of any substance to this forum. I made a heartfelt, serious offer to have him come hunt one of our private properties. I know I could have put him on a deer. I felt maybe if someone showed him some kindness, maybe he would come around. I was wrong.
  3. The flat thermaseat works great for ladder stands. Ground blinds too! I take a nylon strap, and hook a small carabiner through it, run that through the pad handle, and sling it over my shoulder. Rides under my left arm, out of the way. Never go to the woods hunting without it.
  4. Good to see the Bills doing good again. Hope they make a good run in the playoffs. Though I've never been even a fan, after visiting some members out in Buffalo, and spending a couple days out there this past summer. I kinda adopted them as my AFC team! And they are the only real NY team. My Panthers are just a mess!.......
  5. This is what it's all about! These pictures tell the story very nicely. On so many levels, this, and the memories made is just awesome! Congratulations to your Dad and your little man Andrew.
  6. Congratulations my friend!!! Nice late season buck!! Way to get it done!!! Right after the holidays, I really need to buy you that cup of coffee!!! Any sign of the monster I saw down your way???
  7. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for ya.
  8. Guy my hunting partner knows out in Nassau. He does a couple hundred heads a year. Nice guy too. Name is Josh.
  9. Picked it up today, and I'm pretty happy with it! Como dipped with "oak - brush" for the thick nasties he died in. I'll get an old weathered board from the original farmhouse on the property. And come up with something unique for mounting. So that will tie him with the land he spent his life on.
  10. A piece of bone indicates a leg hit most all of the time. Question is, if it passed through some part of the deer to break the offside leg? If so, the deer could be dead within a couple hundred yards from where you found the bone. Likely in the thickest cover available. And will likely not survive. If just the leg was hit, it could survive, but won't move very far for awhile. Even if bumped. Sometimes with a leg hit, if you can get them up and moving, the blood will start to flow again. Even after 24 hours. I hope you find him, or at least see him again. Good luck.
  11. As a hunter ed instructor, we teach new hunters to always take the highest percentage shot, for a quick clean kill. The butt shot is not one of them. In fact we discourage those shots in class. Once a hunter has gained experience with their firearm, and their own abilities, they can make their own choices. But it is not something advised, or taught to new hunters for a good reason. Too much could go wrong, by being just a little off with shot placement. Leading to a horribly slow and painful death to the deer, and or, no deer recovered by the hunter. Speaking only for myself, I've passed up a good many deer, that only offered a rear shot, or hard quartering. It's just not worth it. And I do consider myself experienced, as well as very comfortable with the firearm I'm using. To each their own. But I've mentored a good many hunters, and never, have I encouraged that shot to be taken.

    Gun buck

Very nice! Looks great! Congratulations again!
  13. Yes sir ya sure did! Congratulations! Great late season buck! Way to go!
  14. I know that's not true Bill. You're turkey hunting skills are obviously very good. And much better than mine. Cynthia will have a great mentor this spring!
  15. I hope you get another chance with him Rob. Or even a different one! You certainly have put in a lot of time and effort this season. You deserve a buck!!
  16. I freely admit that so many are better at hunting than I am! I just get lucky alot.
  17. My hunting partner Gary. And then text moog!
  18. Picking up my gun buck euro tomorrow! Though I didn't do this one myself.
  19. I just love a good deer story, told by an 'animated' deer hunter. This one was pretty good! And what a buck!
  20. The first layer of the plastic wrap cuts down a bit more on air space next to the meat. I've used only just freezer wrap too, with no problems. That's all the old guys I learned from used. Like you, my venison is usually all gone by late summer anyways.
  21. Times Two, on the double wrap. Been doing all our deer that way for decades now, and never had a problem. Fast, easy, cost efficient, and will last in the freezer long enough until it's gone.
  22. Nice view! Hunting small properties can be tough, but not impossible! If the deer are bedding behind you, that is where you need to be facing. Can you either move or turn the box blind to face the bedding area? You may see more deer, even though you're looking at less ground?? And where you have it mowed, looks like a great spot for a food plot! The right food in there could bring the deer out of the thick stuff. And remember, if ya have doe.....during the rut, you'll have bucks too. Good luck!
