  1. So sorry to hear this. Mac has been a loyal and loving part of the family for many years. Always so hard to let them go. But he'll be waiting for you all over the rainbow bridge.
  2. Looky what Santa brought me! Whoohoo! I'll be styling at a GTG this year!!!! Thanks Joe! (Goosifer) For putting a big smile on my face this morning. And Jay (TF) too. You guys are so awesome.
  3. Happy Birthday Wolc!!!! Pretty cool sharing your birthday with Jesus!
  4. Wishing all my HuntingNY brothers and sisters, a warm and Merry Christmas. And all the best for a Happy Healthy New Year! May the spirit of the season, and memories from seasons past, touch you all.
  5. What an impressive array of pictures!! Wow!!! Thanks for sharing them with us! I never get tired of seeing nice WNY bucks! How do you possibly know what one to shoot? Knowing what could be coming around the corner? A good problem to have!!!.....lol You are still the trail cam King Brad!!
  6. As you well know Belo, I will perhaps, too quickly sometimes...... always jump in to defend anyone who I like. Warranted or unwarranted. I do it here, and in real life too. Call it a virtue, or a flaw, of my personality......idk. Just for the record Belo, I'd defend you too man. Merry Christmas.
  7. If only that monster buck my grandson and I saw in the cut, had stayed in it for two more seconds!!!! Grandson was on him, and rock steady, as he was running diagonally towards us, down the cut 150 yards away. He had my Sako on a tripod, and as the buck came running a doe over the top, I calmly told him, " there he is, slip your safety off buddy, get on him, I'll try to stop him". The buck covered 50 yards in a flash, hard quartering to us. "You on him Zach"?... "Yeah"... "As soon as he turns, or stops..shoot"! ... BAAHHH... The buck took a hard turn to his left, and was out of the cut and gone...... Just two more seconds!!! I was going to give Zach the go, on the quartering to shot, after one more second, weather the buck stopped or not. He said he was right on the front shoulder, before the buck took the hard turn too. Before this, we had this same buck at 214 yards standing broadside at the top of the bank, but skylighted with no backstop. A miss, or pass through would have sent the bullet down into the park. I rightly called off that shot. We hung in there for three more hours on a bitter cold morning and never saw the buck again. Just two more seconds! Picture from that morning. The time spent together was still priceless.
  8. Love it! Lots of character in that rack! Very nice!
  9. How bout Sako??? My last pup was Sam. Best dog I ever had.
  10. Our club sponsors four kids to go to this camp each summer. The response back from the kids going is always very positive!! A really great program for sure!
  11. Any time out with Culver, is time well spent!!!! You two make a great team! As well as Tree guy too! Before the end of this season, there is going to be quite a few song dogs, that won't be barking at the moon again! Keep posting the hunts moog! Very cool following along with ya!
  12. 250ish??? Were you using Treeguy's rangefinder???
  13. Give Allen a better O line and I think the kid will be a darn good QB in the coming years. He has some accuracy issues now, but he is certainly a scrappy player. He'll work it out. Bills have come a long way this year. Their fans should be happy with the direction this team is going. They aren't dead yet! And will be even better next year.
  14. Some great advice already given. Any new bow today, is light years ahead of bows even fifteen years ago. No matter what brand it is! But I'd strongly suggest going to an archery shop, where you can be fitted for your first bow. Getting the correct draw length is critical for learning proper form. And learning proper form will save you many headache's down the road. Trust me on that. Shoot a few different bows while there. One will stand out above the others. Plenty of good bows out there for $500 and under to get you started. Keep it simple!!! Don't worry to much about expensive sights and rests at this point. Start with a simple Whisker Biscuit rest, and a three pin sight by Trophy Ridge. That will be all you need for the first two or three years, or more.
  15. Handsome little guy! Ruger fits him!
  16. Go with one. Much more sensitivity. And backbone. I have dozens of rods. All but one or two are one piece. And they are eight and a half footers for crappie fishing.
  17. One thing airdale is NOT, is a troll! He has added much to this forum, and I've learned a bunch from him! He is entitled to his opinion, that this crap has gone on long enough. I myself have contributed to the s---storm that was stormy. And I'm glad he's gone. But ganging up on a good member because he has a different opinion from the majority, is s--- too! And serves no purpose. Off season came fast this year. We gotta get outside and do something! And I'm in no way slamming you FSW. As my opinion is, you add much to this forum too. Especially lately!!! And all this is just MY opinion. No one needs to agree with it. As my pot and kettle are just as black as everyone else's.
  18. Paul, no one knows the situation, or your capabilities better than you! I enjoy your posts from the lake! And would like you to stick around all year! Here's to you man...... And a Merry Christmas to you too!
  19. Congrats Brian! Ya got it done. Way to go!
  20. We may have, as that is the downstate chapter. I've been down there at that hunt club a few times, for various things. I'm sure at some time we WILL meet up though!
  21. Welcome!! And we hope to learn from you as well!
  22. Yes, I am a current NYS Hunter Ed Instructor. I started to think about becoming an instructor when I sat through the firearms, and then the bow course with my grandson, at a local sportsmans club. I thought the way it was presented, and the instructors there were very good! And I encourage all the long time hunters to bring a young hunter, and sit through the course! I know I learned a couple things, when I did it!! I was asked by the club, to come in and do a Deersearch presentation, which I was happy to do. As I've been a long time member, and tracker/handler. Afterwards, was approached by a couple of the hunter ed instructors, who said they thought I would be a good fit to help, as there are never enough instructors. So I said sign me up! The first step is to become an apprentice. There is a VERY long list of things to do, to be certified, and it took me about a year to complete the apprenticeship. If you go to NYSDEC, and type becoming a hunting instructor, that will get you started. Much easier to do it through a hunt club or an organization. You will need to have an FBI background check. A visit from, and an interview done by a DEC officer. As well as an online course. And a day long course done at a DEC HQ. Along with the many hours during the apprenticeship, of learning, observing and teaching, every part of the course curriculum, to actual classes of students. All while being mentored by a Senior Instructor. There is always a need for more instructors!! Especially younger ones!! As most all of us are older. It really is one of the most rewarding things I've done, to try and "give back". To something that has given me so much in my lifetime. And well worth the effort of becoming an instructor. I wish you good luck! And if there is anything I can do to help you, just PM me anytime!
