  1. Let me call over there to see if I can reserve a table for us. On the deck overlooking the lake will be nice. Will set a date. All are welcome! Should make a new thread for this, as I don't want to take anything away from The Goat gathering. Just thought for us guys on the other side of the state, it may be more doable.
  2. Good smallie lures! I do the same thing at Wally World! Wife will be picking up a couple things. I always say "heading over to sporting goods". Meeting back up, I drop a thing or two in the cart, as she rolls her eyes, and gives me the "really" look....hehehehe. Do I need em? Heck no, but I gotta have em anyways! Yup, I'm addicted.
  3. Oh yeah......thought about that after rereading. Now I'll develop a flinch, thinking about it!
  4. Off topic, I know. Sorry. Maple On The Lake, has good food and a decent assortment of beers, on Warners Lake, for Capitol Region members that can't make The Goat?
  5. This was brought up in another thread, so I thought I'd ask the question. Have you ever been "scoped"? Did it draw blood? A trickle or a gusher? What gun were you using? Target shooting or a hunt? I've been "nicked" a couple times target shooting. But got it good once, with my Ithaca Deererslayer-2 in 12g. Was hunting the bottom of a ridge, when a big doe stood up above me, and started to go over the top, at 75 yards. She got there and stopped, giving me plenty of time to line her up in the scope. Shot was freehand, as there was only tall weeds around me, nothing to rest on. So shooting at a good uphill angle, at the shot, I see a bright white light! Look to see the doe rolling downhill and blood on the back of my right hand. Swiped at my eyebrow and my hand came away covered! Went and recovered the doe, that was DRT. and I think I bled more than she did, during field dressing! Should have gone for some stitches, but my partners wife is a nurse. She applied a few steri strips and sent me on my way. I'm guessing the combination of shooting uphill, with a relaxed grip, led to this? Never been scoped with a rifle yet! But it could happen I suppose.
  6. Honestly, how could Sanchez have possibly gone to the ASG, and keep a straight face?
  7. Beautiful buck and picture! I said it in another thread, and I'll say it here. All your field pic's are great! It shows that you take some time, and think them out.
  8. Here's one from a couple years ago, seconds before I killed him.
  9. And you even have a pic of the one I "didn't" shoot!
  10. Shot coffee out my nose with that one!............................. What a perfect blind this tree would be! Would not even think of cutting it down. Did you get a picture of the gobbler in front of that tree? You always have awesome field pics!
  11. Never been to Coxsackie Reservoir. But the Basic Reservoir isn't too far from you. And has some real good bass fishing, with easy access. Both sides of the road have some lunkers! Will need a permit there too. From Albany.
  12. Could use him for trade bait, towards an arm that they really need.
  13. Good lookin Lad! You are a lucky man! Does your wife have any sisters?????
  14. It would be well worth it to see some of the guys again, and meet some others! The wings will just be an added attraction! Not ruling it out just yet, but got a lot on my plate at this time. Perhaps a caravan, or a ride along, with a couple Capital District guys to represent!!
  15. Because of bad shoulders, I'll be giving the bow up soon anyways. So bow. But a few years ago, my answer would be different. Bowhunting has been my passion for decades.
  16. I'd love to be there. But not sure if I want to drive that far for wings!
  17. I've had many opportunities to kill big bear on our property over the years, but just never pulled the trigger or released the arrow. Every year I say maybe I'll shoot one if I get a good shot. But never do. IDK, I really haven't cared for the bear meat I have tried. And don't really want to kill a bear just for his hide. Or to say that I kilked one. But who knows, maybe this year???
  18. Just saw a replay of that fiasco. What the heck was he thinking, hitting a moving ball? Even a hack like me knows better than that.
  19. I see he was a scrapper! But looks like when you killed him, he had an intact rack. But the euro shows the rack busted up? Just wondered what happened? Regardless, still a nice euro mount.
  20. Beautiful camper! Congratulations! Good times ahead my friend!
  21. That is a nice set up! But I would definitely trip over a tie down after dark and spill my beer!
  22. Don't see any dimples on them. How do they fly Jay, and is there a huge difference using these? Are they tournament legal? Been a few years since I've hit the links.
  23. It's always so sad to lose a fellow hunter in this way. My heart goes out to his family. But this is worth repeating. Always keep your finger off the trigger, until you are 100% sure of your target, and what lies beyond it. It's rule #1 of hunter safety.
