What a cool turkey tale! Thanks to a member here, (Maytom, and more on this in another post), I'm really looking forward to spring gobbler hunting again!!! For various reasons, it's been a few years since I've hunted spring turkeys . I will definitely be asking advice from our resident, awesome turkey hunters here, to get me back on track. Great post TF !

Killroy was here....... If the toilet is clogged. Don't muck it. Just turn around. And go in a bucket.

Boy, if anyone I know, deserves a deer to step out right now. It's you my friend! I truly admire your tenacity and grit! -
For now, clean and dry on the out side. Then use a couple cans of flex seal. That should keep the water out until the new roof in the spring. Grow's suggestion for mold prevention on the inside is a good start. Sorry Rob, never is it a good time for something like this. But around the holidays, makes it that much worse.

Here we go again..........

Great shot and cool video ! Congratulations !

225lbs dressed is a slob of a buck! In 43 years of hunting I've only shot three over 200lbs. In your area, how many other bucks have you taken over 200? We don't have the huge crops here like years ago.

Would it be illegal to bring in one of those small nut crackers, that look like plyers. And pick up a few acorns, crack them open to get the scent out in the open, and drop them back where you picked them up? I have never done so but this post just made me wonder, if it would be considered scenting or baiting?

Wow!!! I wish something that nice would turn up, next to the rubs on our properties! Only thing that shows up by our rubs, is a deer every now and then. -
With all the extra activity since October first. I have lost a little over 15 pounds. And lowered my A1C down a bit too! I'll see the endocrinologist on Dec.14th. Should get a thumbs up. And I'm sure both numbers will rise around the holidays! Then it's time to chase the coyotes for a month or two!

There it is folks. Spoken from a man that will track more wounded deer in a season. Than most hunters will in two lifetimes! The voice of reason and experience, from someone who's seen the results of poor shot selection. No one will ever convince me that the butt shot is a good shot selection. Because in my experience it is not! And I've tracked my share of these shots over the years as well. I can say that it's a quick kill when it goes well. But more often than not, it is a gruesome injury and slow painful death for the deer. Simply put, wait for the deer to turn, or let it walk and catch up to it on another day. That is what an ethical hunter should do! My advise, to any young or inexperienced hunters reading this. Is to NEVER take this shot! Also, ones beliefs and religion, should have no bearing on what constitutes an "ethical" shot on a deer, or any wild game.
