  1. Thanks for the chuckle. You must have some "BIG" deer in your area!
  2. Got a big doe last year with crossbow. 154lbs. weighed . My hunting partner shot a bigger one ten years or so ago that was noticeably bigger! But we never put her on the scale. It was early season and warm so she was cut up right away. But I'd be comfortable saying she weighed close to 170lbs!
  3. Got a healthy population of them in the hilltowns of Albany county. It's actually quite common to see them now. Beautiful and incredibly cool critters!
  4. Someone will be sitting next to you, with that old familiar smile. Good luck out there.
  5. You are right. But didn't know we were discussing wounded deer. Whole different topic there I'd assume.
  6. If there is drag marks in the snow, it will always be in front of the track. Showing direction. Most times but not always, drag marks will indicate a buck making the tracks in snow.
  7. Sad, but it seems that is how business is done these days. Happened to my wife a few years ago too at Blue Shield of Northeastern NY. But she did find another job that she likes better and pays more. So it did work out well for us. I'm hoping the same for your wife as well. Hang in there and enjoy the holidays. For good people, karma has a way of smoothing the bumps of life.
  8. Congratulations ! There is no quit in you, that's for sure! Nice buck and great job. Way to go!
  9. I write this response with tears on my cheeks. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your Dad. Like you said, no one gets to pick how they exit this world. But your Dad must have lived a pure life to go on his own terms. With no pain, surround by his beloved sons and doing what he loved most. My deepest sympathy, prayers and condolences are with you and your family. He will always be there with you in your hearts.
  10. I've been given and have collected so many, that I now have my own tree! Now have almost 30 and still collecting them. Here are a few.
  11. X - !000 !! Well said! I could not agree more!
  12. Got me. And I had such a good story conjured up in my mind..............sigh.
  13. Oh man I'm out of likes! Yup, that right there is cool beyond cool! By the looks of things, the person taking the picture was the snow leopards next meal! As the shepherd just smiles.
  14. I have a bigfoot for a grandson! Twelve years old and his next pair of shoes will be size 15! Scary........
  15. After sitting in ground blinds, trees, and rock bluffs. Deep in the woods for two and a half months. To think I could have just sat on a park bench in NYC and seen deer! Is pretty cool.
  16. Best.......Alaskan moose back strap cutlets. Worst........Eel and rattlesnake cooked on a spit over a campfire. Like eating an innertube with bones.
  17. Heck, even if there were three or four more guys to buy dinner for. With that buck you shot this year, you still got the better deal!!! Maybe phade and the boy's will go easy on ya and order sirlion's instead of filet's!!! And of course there is the bar bill to consder........yeah,...... you still are making out! That was one heck of a buck!!!
  18. I've been to some pretty wild places in my lifetime. And will admit to the hair on my neck standing on end a few times. When hearing sounds in the night, many miles from the closest road. Always told myself that it was probably some kind of owl or night critter. But hey, ya never know!
  19. After holding one of these beautiful displays in my hands. I can honestly say the the pictures just do not do justice to how nice they really are! The amazing craftsmanship, design , detail work, fit and finish is absolutely top notch! The brass of the shot shell beard holders and inlays, sets off this overall eye catching display perfectly . I highly recommend any turkey hunters out there, that would like to have an heirloom quality display. To contact maytom! Thank you again my friend. This is awesome! And I can't wait to start hunting turkeys with my grandson to fill it up!
  20. Very cool pictures! Amazing how they pluck fish out of the water like that!
  21. Mayby just maybe did you raise your head at the shot, to see her drop?
  22. C'mon rob. I've hunted the Thatcher area for almost 45 years. That is a dark faze. I have only ever seen the light color faze, in this neck o' the woods! Also the only 30 pointers around here, is the final scores of the home high school basketball team. But 30 points on ONE side is quite common for the bucks here! Jeezz.....Don't go spreading false info!
