    On my one property, there are still plenty of doe to take. They are just not moving much during daylight at this time. And I haven't hunted it much this year. The other property is much larger and we are trying to build up the deer population . So no doe hunting there. Since I have plenty of meat in the freezer, it's not a big deal if I fill my DMP or not. But I'd really like to!

    Every time I have a DMP, I say aw heck, I'll just fill it at the end of the season. Most times that works out fine for me. But then there are the years, (this one included) that the doe seemed to have gone underground! Saw three small bucks last weekend, but no doe! And like ApexerER said, if I did not have that DMP. I would have a parade of doe just about falling over themselves to walk past my stand! It's not over yet! But I don't see any lines of doe forming either........"grin"

    Whoo Hooo turkeyfeathers!!! Man, I and I'm sure many others here, have been rooting for ya for the last couple of weeks. Congratulations!!! You have been the poster person for persistence and grit! So happy it paid off nicely for you.

    Welcome! Wishing you and your son, many hunting adventures together! What part of NC? Spent some time around the Pisgah National Forest area. The town of Brevard. Beautiful country!

    I still have a DMP, I'd like to fill. And will be out, at times during the next two weekends. But this is a very busy family time of the year as well. So I need to divide my time between the two, at this point of the season. It's been a great season for me so far! But I still always hate to see it end.

    The top dog in the woods now is the coyote. Not too many domesticated dogs will take on a pack of coyotes.

    I too saw a bunch of deer movement from almost hitting a huge doe on Rt 7, outside of Cobleskill. To seeing many deer along field edges including a couple real nice bucks. Between the towns of Schoharie, Middlberg and Berne. And one absolutely huge buck, standing in someone's back yard on the hill in Huntersland. I'll be out all day tomorrow !

    Agreed ! If you have the tag, use it and put tasty venison in the freezer. If possible to do so. And I realize too, that sometimes the deer don't cooperate and it may not be possible to fill.

    Got this guy on Nov. 22nd. In 4 H. Still seeing bucks on trail cams, mostly at night now. But the deer are there and now moving close to very thick cover, in daylight hours.

    On our farm property, we haven't shot a doe in three years. As we had the deer numbers nose dive for a variety of reasons. Coming back nicely now. On my lake property, we have way too many doe. And try to fill our DMP's there. Both properties are only five miles apart. But differ greatly in terrain features .

    Doing some holidays volunteer work today. But will be hunting tomorrow to fill my DMP or push a buck to my god daughter . It will be her first with rifle. And pretty sure my grandson will be tagging along too! Looking forward to a fun hunting day!

    What a cool turkey tale! Thanks to a member here, (Maytom, and more on this in another post), I'm really looking forward to spring gobbler hunting again!!! For various reasons, it's been a few years since I've hunted spring turkeys . I will definitely be asking advice from our resident, awesome turkey hunters here, to get me back on track. Great post TF !
