Happy Birthday!
-
I too have been bowhunting longer than some members here have been alive. Killed my first bow deer with a recurve in 1984. Since then I've killed a LOT of deer with a bow. I hunted with a bow this year and will continue to do so as long as my damaged shoulders will allow me to. My grandson will kill his first deer with a compound bow. But seeing some posts here, I guess I am a lazy slob, because I have killed deer and hunt sometimes with a crossbow. But ya know what? I don't give a rats patootie what anyone thinks! I don't hunt with a crossbow because it's easy, more accurate or any number of other things people are spewing about them. I do it because I want to, it's legal and it's fun! If they pass full inclusion fine. If they keep it the way it is now, that's fine too. I do feel strongly about having to have the archery education course to hunt with crossbow. I will still kill deer in bow season with or without a crossbow, but it will be "my choice"!! Not some cry baby thinking a slob like me might kill your damned deer! If you are so worried about us slobs killing your deer, then step up your game and learn a few new hunting skills! And don't worry about what someone else is doing. Just hunt!

Hunting Christmas presents. Whatcha get ?
grampy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
For us, it's all about the kids and grand kids. And I did take care of my wife with a couple things she would not buy herself. Did get some nice alpaca wool hunting sox and a camo hat with LED light built into the brim. Throughout the year if I need something, I'll just get it then. Also, by sometime in the late spring or earlier. I will be getting a VERY nice hunting rifle!!! -
The dogs barking jingle bells! Is at the top of the list.

All is calm all is bright. Cheers.....

Homemade Christmas gift idea (Candle Holder)
grampy replied to Zem18's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
I like having a touch of the woods inside our home. Nice idea, they look great! -
Very nice set of group photos there phade! I'm pretty much a loner in the deer woods. Except for my hunting buddy, best friend and property partner. But I have some old Polaroid and 35mm pic's of the "old" guy's who were my mentors. When I look at those old pictures, it vividly brings me back to that day and hunt! Now I'm looking forward to a group picture with my grandson with his deer! That will be the icing on the cake to a long line of group photos. That someday will be his "old" photos with grampy. 20161009_083735.mp4

Why not be a little more creative, and call it a "Bolt Bazooka"!

May the warmth of Christmas be with you all. And all through the New Year, as well.

I recently got a new phone too. And after searching a bit, decided on the INCIPIO case. Not as bulky as the Otterbox but still "grippy" and rugged. I like it a lot so far! By the way. I got the Dual Pro model. $29.99

Now I know what it looks like to be mauled!....Another cool video!

It worked for me and it was awesome!!! So cool! And what a buck!!! Wow!

Careful out there fellas! I love ice fishing. But I'm never the first to venture out on the ice. Once I see a sled or ATV out there, I figure it's safe enough for my fat butt! If these temps hold, should be good in another week or two in my neck of the woods. Though I'm sure there will be people out testing the limits this weekend. Nice haul of tasty fillets there Buckmaster7600!

A hearty welcome! And a Merry Christmas! Hope to hear more from ya!

A couple years ago, I kept seeing a small buck scratching the side of his neck with his hind leg. And there was a patch of hair missing in the area he was scratching. Saw him quite a few times over the course of the season. And he did that same scratching every time I saw him! He seemed healthy enough other than the peculiar scratching and the bare spot. Even saw him dogging a doe, and every so often he would stop and scratch! I guessed he had some type of mites or something along those lines. Never saw him the following year. So not sure what ever became of him. But had he been bigger I would have had no problem killing and eating him. Like I said, he looked and acted healthy enough. And the bare spot didn't look raw and infected.

My thoughts and prayers are with your friend. And you too.

Do you remove sling while actual hunting
grampy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Hunting
Once I decide a firearm will have a sling, it never comes off. Practice or actually hunting, still there. Use the sling to hang the gun, lay barrel on hard a surface, put between my lap and gun on cold days, steady a shot, breaks up my outline for very close encounters, and of course to carry the firearm. -
Best Memory Of The Season, Without Killing A Deer
grampy replied to DirtTime's topic in General Hunting
Seeing my 12 year old grandson carrying his own bow in the woods to hunt, for the first time. I could easily see the huge smile on his face, even in the darkness. I'm sure he saw mine as well.- 45 replies
