I've never been on an elk hunt. But if I did, I'd be looking for exactly what you posted Biz. It's on my bucket list as I get closer to retirement.

Over the last five years, I've had to kill three rabid raccoons on our property. Now if I see them during daylight in the open, I SS&SU.

Check out craigs list, sometimes they will have good deals. But always try before you buy if possible! -
OK! Buying Ammo Online Question
grampy replied to DirtTime's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I just take a short drive to Vermont. I'll call ahead to be sure they have what I want, or they will order it for me. And the prices are much better there than NYS. Was in Maine recently and their ammo prices are a full third less than NY! To the OP's question. In almost all cases I've found that ammo purchases had to be made face to face through a ffl, in NY. Screw Andy and his "Safe" Act. I'll buy my ammo somewhere else while I can! -

Most public land that allows hunting will allow you to target shoot and sight in with archery gear. And as rob stated, lots of guy's down your way will have more detailed info for you.

Tips for hunting directly next to a corn field
grampy replied to mlammerhirt's topic in Deer Hunting
Some really good advice already posted above. Also look for natural pinch points off the trails leading to the corn. A fallen tree, they need to walk around. A gully, top or bottom with very steep sides. A large rock formation. You get the idea, just set up with the best wind direction in mind. Just find the spot that will concentrate movement back off the field, between bedding and the corn. -
The rain kinda broke up right over us. We got little more than a sprinkle. Need more!

I've owned boats for over 40 years. All but one have been fishing boats. The one was a fish and ski made by Sunbird. Lower end boat with a 90hp Johnson OB . It was great for pulling the kids on ski's and floats. Only so so for fishing. If you are going to mostly fish, buy a fishing boat!

Are the baits salt impregnated? Any attractants used? I'd be willing to try them out! Got a smoke color with black flake?

Very cool and eye catching. Best of luck phade!

Good deal! Always better to come across as a good guy, instead of a hard azz. Most times it will work out to your favor.

Getting low on a couple of my favorite soft baits. My wife just asked if I would like to go to the Bass Pro Shops in Utica. Well heck yeah says I!! Leaving in just a bit. She does not hunt or fish but is my biggest supporter of all my outdoor adventures. I'm a lucky man! Since we'll be out that way, I'll stop at Turning Stone to let her play the Willie Wonka machine for a bit! A win-win day for us both!
