Look's like our back tags may be a thing of the past?
grampy replied to maytom's topic in General Chit Chat
Sometimes I'll start out with it on my outer jacket in the morning when it's cold. Coming out later, after it has warmed up I stuff the jacket in my pack or carry it. Then going out later in the day I've forgotten to take the back tag off the other jacket. What a PITA. So Now I just carry it in my pants pocket most of the time. Then at some point in the season it will end up in the washer and come out scent free! Last year a lot of places could not even print out the tags and licence because the paper was different and wouldn't go through the printers. What if they made it so we could pay them online and print our own from home? Sounds too easy, they would never go for it! -
Installed new trigger spring on my Savage Axis

The one I ordered from amazon was $14.95 plus shipping,a couple pennies under $20 total. And worth every penny! -
Installed new trigger spring on my Savage Axis
grampy replied to grampy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
For sure someone is making money from selling these springs for $20. Good for them, wish I had thought of it first. That's just free enterprise, selling something someone wants for a profit. For my $20 I got a product that worked exactly as advertised, was simple to install and above all,was safe to use. If you go online you can find video's of guys using ink pen springs in their trigger assemblies. Would it work in my gun? Maybe,or maybe not. So I wanted to be sure of it being SAFE,as the spring I ordered was made for my Savage Axis. From start to finish, the installation took twenty minutes,it would take me longer than that to just drive to the hardware store here. All that being said, I did look at your post from 2012,and I think you did a fine job on your 5mm Rem. Mag. doing the work yourself. And by the way I think that is a very cool rifle! -
I have the old international cub for pulling out firewood and other duties. Got it from an old farmer friend for $500 about 10 years ago. I love that thing! But I love my atv's too. Use whatever works for you and makes you happy with what you use it for and it's all good.

Yes, I did the drop test at least half a dozen times after installing the new spring. It was even written in the instructions to do so. I dropped it,shook it and dropped it some more to be sure of no accidental trigger release. And to be sure the safety worked properly. Good advice wildcat. -
If its raining,go to old faithful. If not raining go to where you saw the gobbler and kill him tomorrow. Good luck!

Nice bird and great hunt! Congrats!

There is hunting lazy and there is hunting smart. I don't have an atv because I'm lazy. I don't knock anyone who chooses not to use one. I too, have walked and dragged deer miles in my time hunting. Would I rather walk to work or drive...................hmmm.............I think I'll use the best tool for the job.

Installed new trigger spring on my Savage Axis

I did the same thing! Just filed it away in the little tube that the new spring came in. The hard part is remembering where the heck I file things when I need them again. -
All of the above and..... Quiet operation.............don't like the loud racing type Comfort Durability.....for the money spent is it going to last with normal use and up keep

I use mine for moving stands, hauling out deer, odd jobs around our property and the farm I hunt. They are a very handy tool that saves a lot of time and effort. That being said we never drive to our stands to hunt. We may use them to get up in the back part of the property, within a few hundred yards of where we will be hunting. I have a 2008 Yamaha grizzly and a 2010 Honda rancher. As I get a little older,I am glad to have them when I need them. I suppose I could get by without them, but why. They are just another tool.

Congrats! Well done!

I used to think that car dealerships treated you like crap after the sale. That is until I bought a couple of atv's from a dealership on Hoosic Street in Troy. I'll never buy anything from them again! Where has customer service and satisfaction gone to in the last 20 years?

You won't see Rev. Al calling for justice ether. So sad.

A dandy buck and very nice mount!! Well done!

With that many gobblers, you need to PM me so I can go "check out" the situation for you. It's not unusual to have a bunch of birds together early and late in the day.

I'd say you should have similar results to mine when done. It's the best $20 upgrade I could have made! Made a big difference. If you don't have the accu-trigger,this is next best thing, for the money. I'd like to know your results when finished. -
Very nice! Congrats!

First time shooting after installing the new trigger spring. First three shots touching at 150 yards! I don't consider myself to be a crack shot. So I'm very pleased with the results. -
Congrats! Nice bird! Way to go!
