  1. I am the printing and graphic arts department for a public school district for the last ten years. Before that, twenty five plus years in commercial printing. And before that went to Nashville to make it in the music business. Singing and playing guitar did not pay the bills, so had to get a real job. lol......
  2. LOL! I have been in the squirrels position a time or two. I wonder if squirrels get hangovers too!
  3. Exactly right. No matter how successful I have been, my mind does go back to the ones that didn't come home with me, for what ever reason.
  4. Hey there Matt. Welcome. Just pull up a chair and join right in.
  5. Every hunter has a story about a deer that for whatever the reason never got shot at. And lives in our minds, still wondering, what if.... In the early 90s my buddy who owns the farm we hunt, kept telling me all summer and fall of this huge wide racked buck. I never saw him during that time when I helped out putting in hay. Now it's near the end of bow season and my buddy shoots a real nice buck and I am just not seeing any bucks at all and that is very strange for this property. He has been seeing multiple bucks most every time out. And he keeps telling me about this "really wide 10 point" and to stay out there. Bow season ended and now it's the first weekend of gun. And I decide to hunt this upper woodlot that is mostly open hardwoods heading down hill. As I'm coming in from the top I see a doe and two smaller bucks down below me. they are moving from my left to right about 100 yards away but I have no clear shot. So I start moving to my right looking down hill and find an opening. And waiting for the deer to hit the opening I hear a slight noise behind me and up to my right. I turn and look over my shoulder and there looking right at me is that "really wide 10 point". My gun is pointing almost 180 degrees away from this buck and we are staring at each other and I know if I move at all he is going to be gone. So I start in SLOW motion turning to get a shot. At the same time one of the deer below blows. The big buck spins around and is running away with a tree directly between us as I watch him run over the top of the hill. I never forgot the sight of that "really wide 10 point" going over the top without a shot being fired. What if.....
  6. Your taxidermist did a very nice job with the blending in and color. I too had one fixed years ago. I made a double lung bow shot on a nice buck. 30 yards from where he was shot,he ran headfirst into a field stone wall and broke off six inches of his main beam. Same as with your buck, unless you saw before and after pic's you would never know.
  7. Great story and great buck! The right G3 looks longer in the mount picture. Did you have a broken point repaired?
  8. Hitting a wild bear, wouldn't that be considered, harassment of wildlife? As well as being considered pretty dang dumb!
  9. She is truly doing a huge disservice to the very animals she claims to love.
  10. One thing is for sure. No one gets out of this world alive.

    Hard Water Fishing

Absolutely, nothing beats perch through the ice as fresh water fish go. The poor mans shrimp! Of course walleye and crappie are a close second. Very nice catches guy's!
  12. Cool picture! He has been an angry old man this year! Not the only angry old man I've been around lately ether.
  13. The sun angle is slowly getting higher. Even when its 20 degrees, the sun actually feels warmer lately. We are finally inching our way into spring this year.
  14. Although I'm sure that there will be some winter kill deer this year. The notion that there will be no bucks to kill for years, is a bit off kilter.

    Hard Water Fishing

Ballston lake has some BIG bass! We get there at least a couple times during the summer in the bass boat. My biggest was well over seven pounds there. Nice lake but launching the boat there is always a pain in the a.. Never tried hard water fishing on that lake though.
  16. Mount looks very nice! I may look into something like that if I choose to have another mount made. Congrats again on a great buck!
  17. Seems simple enough to me. Take the ammo away and their guns are useless. Sad but true, that real criminals don't have a problem getting ammo from just about anywhere.
  18. We have the grandsons for an overnight and took them shopping for some stuff. Asked them where they wanted to eat they said, pizza hut.....yuck said I to myself. So just as we are getting done the owner came over to us and told us and every one else to grab our coats and go outside as they just called the fire department. So as we go out the fire trucks are coming in and the grandsons thought that was just so cool. They put out a small electrical fire on the roof in one of the vent units. We went back in and got 50 percent off the bill and the boy are still talking about all the fire trucks and and how good the pizza was. Me...I got to go look for some tums.
  19. Hopefully I'll find a couple places in Vermont to take my business to. There is a small, local, mom and pop gun shop that I have supported for many years, and will continueto do so when I can. But I will NEVER again use any of the big box stores in NYS for firearms or ammo. I'm tired of being treated like a criminal,in NYS with background checks, extra fees and taxes just to purchase a box of ammo. While real criminals get what they want anytime they want it with no questions asked.
  20. Fixing the old and building new natural ground blinds, cutting shooting lanes and moving ladder stands in the early spring. Then some range time with my new 7mm-08 and after that, get the bass boat ready for some fishing with my grandsons.
  21. Started out with over ten cords. Down to about a cord and a half with much more cold weather to go. Average winter we use seven to eight cords. Also use oil and electric baseboard heat when it gets a bit warmer. Yup, this has been a cold winter so far.
  22. Back in the day, when the girls were ready for bed,so were we!!;-)
  23. That last one is a work of art. I'd love a print of that for my office! Awesome work wooly.
  24. Thanks everyone. Looks like I'll be heading to Vermont real soon.
