Eight hours may be enough. Get in there and look around. Hopefully he won't be far away. Bring lights, and your bow, just incase. Let us know how you make out. Good luck! -

My opinion is......Brown tips indicate mid body, but back, with a low exit wound through guts, hence the fat low on the bush. Usually the blood trail will not be very good, as the fat will plug the holes. But that does not mean you can't recover this deer! He already looked to bed a short distance from where you shot him. If not bumped again, he may bed within a short distance of where you saw him last? A wound like this, is not survivable. The deer WILL die. Only question is how far will he go before sucomming? Give him plenty of time before going back in. Go easy. The blood trail may start good, but will likely peter out fairly quickly. Look for more pieces of fat, and small drops of blood. I would think he bedded again within 100 yards of where you saw him last. Again....just my opinion. Good luck! Where are you located? -

Fat from a possible gut shot? Let him go for at least four more hours before taking up the track again. -

Perhaps so? I'm far from being knowledgeable about such things! I'm just happy when I see a new picture on my phone!! And shake my head in wonder, at all this new fangled techno crap!

I get no sound notification from my android phone, when my Tactacam Reveal cams send a picture to my phone. I have to open the app to see the pictures, no sound then either.

I've killed a few deer with those! Used them for years. Still have a few downstairs with my archery stuff. -
From my own observations, over more than four and a half decades of deer hunting, the "MAGIC DAY" is November 11th. And the five days on either side of that are really good too. This is the time in my area, where you will see a mature buck standing in the middle of an open field, walking along with nose to the ground oblivious, or just acting "dumb". This is the period where the majority of the doe's are just about ready to breed, but not quite ready to stand for a buck. But that "sweet scent" is everywhere! And driving the bucks crazy! Of course there will be individual doe's that will come into estrous, from the middle of October on. Leading to some very intense localized buck action!! But starting on or about November first, the "seeking" and "chasing" will really intensify, leading up to what I call the magic day of Nov. 11th. Shortly after this time, the action will slow down as the bucks tend the doe's. But as soon as they spend their "time" with the doe, they will be off to find another. So usually until the end of November, a hunter could catch a buck on the move, looking for a doe. This all falls pretty much the same time year, after year, after year.

4H Hilltowns of Albany County Rubs and scrapes popping up more over the last week. Young bucks seen running doe's. But the girls want nothing to do with them.

I'm sold on the Glory Nocks !! For both bow and crossbow. They are made, and designed by the original owner of Nockturnal. To install, just slide on with just a tiny drop of super glue and adjust fletching. So easy to turn off. Can do it with one hand and no tool! I did have to make slight adjustment after adding the Glory Nock. Some others claim they did not?
