  1. I will go on the record as a Bills fan. I've been to very cold late season games. Including the raiders playoff game in the SB run. I've also watched them play in domes when away. Houston for example. Put me in the dome category. 10X better experience. Keep the tailgating component. But dome that thing and create an experience that we just don't have in wNY.
  2. I'm vested heavily in disposable warmers. We'll be in the heated club section but still outside. Annoying as all get out that they don't allow the batteries but I get it. People throw em. Disposables it is! My friends and family attending are all thinking Bills win big. I am thinking it is going to be a close game. Josh isn't playing his best ball and will end up relying on his running ability more. Makes me cringe. One of these days, someone is going to do some damage when they catch him.
  3. The bad taxidermy thread on AT years ago was legendary. I mean, you couldn't swig a beer looking at it. You'd be wearing it.
  4. Do it before you get stuff in there is my recommendation, lol. At least based on my experiences. Once you get it "full" it becomes alot more challenging. Good luck, looks like a big spot.
  5. Much to my chagrin, I have a Meateater branded Weatherby. I understand he uses more than one caliber in modern rifles.
  6. No the point is we are talking about a topic that likely has less impact than the areas we should be focusing on, like legislative requirements for the DEC to pass wind. Or worry about technology that is really impacting our lives in other ways. Has little to nothing to do with more big buck pictures.
  7. Hunting with dogs recalls my youth years. Hunted them with everything from rabbits to deer. Lots of action. I remember the small game hunts more in their entirety and experience. But I can picture myself very clearly on a giant wood platform treestand sitting atop a telephone pole on a gas line cut, with the dogs hot on a trail. I knew it was coming, Bailey the best dog was first in line behind it, I could tell it was a buck by the dogs' sounds. The crackle of the CB from others telling everyone on the line to get ready. That big buck blew out of the cover and crossed a 75 yard wide cut in what seemed like seconds. I missed that buck because I was shaking so bad I couldn't sign my name. Bailey came out on the track maybe 30 seconds later and kept that buck going beyond me. The others weren't too far behind. Hooked. For life. It was the last time I shot that rifle. I put it in the safe ever since. Someday, when I am old, I'll shoot one with it. When I shoulder it once every few years, I see the round going just barely over his back. Had him Right to left A-OK. Just too much anticipation to see the results. He was moving, fast.
  8. Yeah, people get dramatic with it, but, like with anything something of a kernel of truth. If they are doing this in Feb. or March corn can pull deer in from some distance via yarding type of scenario. Doubt they're using small amounts of corn, ha. But, for those bordering, I'd feel real bad. That legit stinks.
  9. Missing the point - The DEC can't even outlaw cell cams. The question was - where do we all come out on this? We come out nowhere or we have a legislator tell us what is best.
  10. A free'd up DEC would manage to the resource, sportsmen, and citizens, not the politicians. The commissioner likely has his job on the line based on what he is told to do as policy.
  11. The point is that we (including me) trip over much less trivial things vs the things that can make substantial differences. The DEC likely needs legislator involvement to outlaw cell cams - and that demonstrates my point. Worrying about fair chase via cell cam in the NEUS, when the DEC just got an award, and the commissioners response is about managing an over-abundance of deer? It, just seems misplaced worry given gravity of the situation. I'd trade cell cams in season in a heart beat for a free'd up DEC to manage our sport and the wildlife without dolts interfering. I mean, what kind of fair chase do you really have right now in NYS? You trust legislators to decide your season dates, the ability to adjust tag allocations as wildlife and scenarios dictate? Cornell has sharpshooters on 37 acres with baitstations - the property of which are bordered by private hunting groups. You feel like those private hunting landowners get fair chase now? But, we think that a $100 cam is too much on our moral compass.
  12. Whatever the truth element is - which I am sure most of it is true, I'd be livid. You have to assume that those hunting parcels are most valued and assessed (in the real world) against the intrinsic hunting worth down there. I'd be pushing to lower my tax assessment by having a case made that having sharpshooters destroying a shared resource next door drives down the value of the property. Hey, come buy my ground - guys with high end black guns are out here at night, right next door. You'll never know a thing, don't worry about it! There wouldn't be a person buying that ground for 10% of what they paid for it any time soon. Probably the equivalent of lighting $50-100K on fire.
  13. Typical NYers. Worried about the legitimacy of $100 camera vs. the AI and Bot technology down on Wall St. that allows multi-billion dollar corporations to make stock trades in nano-seconds effectively steering the market before retail investors have access to the information those computers already received and processed. Hey, look over there, shiny penny. About the only thing that would make sense in this thread is if Wolc posted a photo of his buck again.
  14. The Go Live does that already, at least near real-time. A few seconds to establish the live feed. Been in use for a few years now. Hasn't changed the world.
  15. Meanwhile, social media is blowing up around Cornell owning a mere 37 acres that are isolated and backing up to several private hunting properties with Cornell having bait stations and sharpshooters on it with noise reduction. The DEC would be better off trying to fix the legislative hurdle rather than doing darn near anything with actual wildlife. Handcuffed IMO. I'm sure their job is not easy.
  16. Federal Blue Box 100 gr, Hornady American 100 gr., and the Barnes 80 gr. All have demonstrated terminal performance just fine. The Barnes are real nice, but very pricey and hard to get right now. I have a few boxes left and sighted in my Vanguard with the Federal because I lucked into 10 boxes of it November 2020. It was lights out. Felt no need to try the Barnes. Did fine on a Missouri whitetail this year. As long as you are shooting a mainstream 100 gr. or thereabouts with whitetail in mind, I'd be more concerned on accuracy. Don't get me wrong, the Barnes is very very nice. But in this climate, it might not be worth the ROI.
  17. Ohio. Wind is bad for the stand I had planned to sit. Audible to a ground spot. We will see. Have three lanes on the my good wind side on what appears to be two trails with repetitive tracks and one that appears to be a single buck track with good size.
  18. The powder is contained so the element of having powder in there not shot, isn’t going to need effort lol.
  19. If that means I have to clean them, I'll pass! I'm cleaning mine tonight and loading a freshie. I'll be in the Nitrofire camp after this season I think. I've come to realize I have way too many MZ, too. Bought another Wolf this year. Mostly, because. Two Wolfs, a Buckstalker, and a Vortek UL. No idea why. It's like they just jump off the shelf at me. I hate cleaning them, too.
  20. MZ opens tomorrow in Ohio. Rather than head out tonight, we're going to drive down in the AM and hunt tomorrow PM and Sunday AM and head back. Not going to force a morning hunt without any real leads. Have some work to get done tomorrow morning, too, so that aligns well. Ohio cams have been slow short of one 24 hour period middle of this week, but one shooter was in daylight, so at least there is a chance, lol.
  21. I'm still in the mess of season since I'll be giving it a go in Ohio this weekend. Next weekend hopefully is Bills game. Likely spend meaningful time organizing and cleaning/stacking, etc. The following weekend. Work, too is at our peak season.
