  1. He also said that the #1 Q is people asking about the as mileage as noted here. He thinks that whatever they publish will be hit real world and to count on it. Our Prime hits estimates on the dot. Unrelated, but noteworthy, the Prime has adaptive headlights. It probably saved me some pain last night, going around a bend and it lit up a doe in my lane early. I was able to swerve in time. May have been the difference between the miss and a hit.
  2. It will be a very long wait time for the Pro - allocations to dealers are going to be sold before they hit lots for the first few months at a minimum and it likely drags on for the first year. Any that hit lots unsold will probably be over MSRP for a while too. I asked specifically when I bought my wife's Prime last week as I am considering the Tundra Pro too. The owner of the dealership (who sold me the Prime) let me know they didn't even get allocated a Pro at all...and they're in a military town where they have newer soldiers with money to burn against high APRs. They have an SR5 on the lot decked out and it is nice but the Pro is a different beast.
  3. I put in 20-25 hours on stand with zero deer sightings before seeing them, so let's have some understanding here.
  4. Sat this AM. Not a thing moving. We even did one man pushes through two bedding spots. Nothing. Sat this PM on a food plot edge backing up against bedding and spied on the Bills game. As soon as it wrapped up I had a 100” 8 step out with a little spike at 40. Let them age up. Perhaps the most annoying theme continued this season is does on Sunday PM. Seven stepped out at the same spot the bucks entered the field. Work beckons tomorrow so they too got a pass. Begrudgingly. They were the first deer I’ve seen in five sits though. Have to admit I’m somewhat burned out. Will keep at it though.
  5. No idea why one image is upside down. But ended up buying her a Prime. Did a favor for an acquaintance and it ended up being good karma unknowingly. These are hard to find not sold before arrival to dealers. Acquaintance’s best friend owns a Toyota dealership up in Watertown. Within five minutes last week I had a deal done for MSRP for a loaded Prime that was due in on the 22. Was very fortunate. Wife was very happy. It’s pretty darn fast. 300+ HP and somewhere around 460 ft lbs of torque. It’s been charged three times now and gets 40-42 miles on a charge before the hybrid kicks in. $7,500 tax credit too for this upcoming season.
  6. Are you on tapatalk or just the straight Chrome browser? I'd imagine it's some settings or compatibility issue.
  7. That buck has been on more screens than Mia Khalifa.
  8. They have several seasons - three or four of them but spaced out. Starts in the rut, though.
  9. You guys are already in off-season forum form! Congrats! I think.
  10. IMO Ohio trails 7-10 days behind NY in rut related activity. Just FYI.
  11. You need to come to Missouri - you'll get that experience there for sure, but without any of the BS (at least not at that level). Opening week of Missouri is very much like I remember it as a younger kid and adult. It's unreal. the most fun week every year now.
  12. Deer are resilient, I think we would all agree on that. Hunting is an unnatural tool to manage the herd for successful propagation of the species. It's a Goldilox tool - have to be just right - can't be too heavy, can't be too light. Too heavy, and we have sustainability problems beyond their resilient nature. Too light, and well, you run into human interaction issues and biological corrections - If an area with coons is not trapped, every X or so years, distemper comes in and knocks them down. It creates more violent swings in population dynamics than getting it "just right" via hunting and trapping. So I guess my answer is yes and no. Any actions around hunting likely influence more nocturnal movement and increased stress. Balance is probably the real discussion point here. For those that might think nature taking its course is OK - it likely is without human influence. Our presence has allowed for carrying capacities to skyrocket and shift game and furbearers to more adaptive states. Deer were largely woodland and grassland type animals. Introduce suburbia, ag, etc. that jumps carrying capacity, and now, letting nature take over, just isn't a thing any longer. Hunting becomes the primary tool now, and has been.
  13. It's not about more active - it's about most. Deer are MOST active at twilight
  14. Deer are crepescular. Most active at twilight on ether end of the day. Look at how their eyes are built and structured for low-light visibility. They see best at twilight. While we think they see well at night - they actually don't see as well as they do at twilight, but it's still much better than we see and interpret at night with our own eyes. The reference to nocturnal is misleading in the way we see/view/interpret the rut, too. But in reality, they're crepescular. We just understand and rationalize what we want or think we see.
  15. All good. I'm sure things will flow smoothly for you and the family. My protege at work who I work with very closely, and who is replacing me as I moved into a new role, came down with symptoms Sunday. I spent Thursday in office with her in my office for an hour maskless- 6ish feet apart. Both vaccinated; her w/booster, me getting one next week. People try to be careful as much as humanly possible. I've tested negative twice now, one yesterday, one this AM. People do the best they can. Now...now I have lead my new organization and my old one since my protege is down. She lost smell and taste overnight. So, even if I don't get it, I have 520 people to lead for the next 10-ish days during peak busy season for the business units. Talk about timing. As long as she gets better, it's all good though. That is what matters.
  16. The electric hand warmers are indeed nice, but one thing I learned is when they are not used, they are cold as icicles. If I am bringing one and not using it, it must go in the pack and not in my pockets or muff. They are real nice for the short hunts where setting it on low gives you constant warmth. Electric vest...big fan too. They make alot of brands of the disposable warmers now. Hot Hands originals are really they best by a mile. We had another brand this year and me and my hunting partner each had an episode where one of the handwarmers blew up on us making a ridiculous mess of black crap. EVERYWHERE. I figured mine out before it fully burst and only got a small amount of the black stuff on me. My partner...well he and his Sitka Fanatic set looked like he went into a coal mine. Definitely a photo I regret not taking for posterity.
  17. Linex all the way. 100%.
  18. Nope - had bucks on cam at 630 there, but nothing in daylight...besides 17 freaking does. Unreal. Couldn't grow an antler on one. And Sunday night....not shooting a doe w/work.
  19. Let’s see what the last few hours bring. Holiday season should be me 3 hunts at least. We’re going to knock down a bit of this corn this week. It’s hasn’t been winters enough to consolidate feeding so far here. Such a weird late season.
  20. Wasn’t even aware of being chosen in that game lol. I got promoted at work so it’s been fewer hours in the woods the past two weeks or so.
