Nice! Some hosses there. I haven't really ever acquired the mulie itch. Elk on the other hand...

Not at all. Stealth is just universally THAT bad. Any research on Stealth cams via CG or even TCP show they have poor battery life, very inconsistent performance, and largely unhelpful CS. Now, that's certainly not to say they can't make a camera that works and some users do have good experiences; it's just that reviews reflect the masses. It's not a great cam company or cam manufacturer. Personally, I've owned or operated a handful of Stealth cams and Wildview cams. I've returned all of them except on Wildview cam that lasted 3-4 years. One Nomad went back 4 times before I opted not to bother return shipping. They sent me a new, dead camera each and every time. CS was indeed nice, byut honestly, they didn't have much of a clue nor were they able to provide any tech advice. Nobody likes to hear bad news about something they bought just before learning of that news. We've all been there. Hopefully you get a great cam and can report back to us how many pics it takes, etc. It sure is possible.

Read it over on AT. Sad to see...his original was a pretty big deal in directing the market to the short bh. Curious to find out how the company perseveres. Looks like two people are taking the reins, and even though they know the business, who knows what can happen. Might be worth picking up a pack or two of your favorite heads in case the company goes south or the quality drops for some reason. Some companies falter in such situations.

I can't fully understand what you are saying. Is the computer having a problem or the disc having a problem. If it is the SD card, it's not a surprise. I think that was part of your problem all along, not some random person peeping your pics. You likely have bad disc space that went corrupt. It happens alot, even with Sandisk. Cards can error out too. They're cheap components.

What happens when a deer sees their reflection....
phade replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I've seen several deer see their reflection in the black 60s. Pretty funny. I think they'll break up the array going forward; I haven't seen what I deem a negative reaction as they simply see themselves or may sunlight bouncing off of it. I think the biggest benefit is simply a reduced footprint for theft. -
I have no idea how Stealth cams and GSM Outdoors in general can stay in business. They must fool enough people. WGI is horrible too, but at least you can get a cam to sometimes work, which is more than I can say about Stealth.

Most horrible stuff ever. I've never seen deer turn so inside out before with any type of scrape actions. Never again.
-
Lots of night activity.
-
Drippers are more work than they are worth imo. Better off just hunting based off the sign. Ill pee in scrapes if I need to but that's about it. Maybe stop at a park and get some zcrape dirt and snip an overhanging branch off to zip tie to your mock scrape. I'm not even huge on mocks but can be useful 10 ft down from an existing scrape.

Covert cams seem to have the market cornered on battery life. They are easy to set up too. Other cams to look at include reconyx (if money is not a factor) and spypoint.

Ny teachers are amongst the most highly compensated in the country.

I'm seeing 4.5 on that guy.

Tell us more about what you want in a cam and how much you can spend.

This turn might be one for the recordbooks...

Elmo, while I think you make your points clear, I disagree that a deer needs to both see and hear you before changing its course. It may be more common with younger deer, but deer with any experience of a hunting season learn pretty quickly. I've seen more than my fair share of mature bucks and does veer off course, flee, or abprubtly stop, assess a situation, and move around the potential danger with only one danger cue. Remember they are wired for flight. Sometimes you can fool them on one aspect, but other times, all it takes if one mistep. Alot of it depends on the deer and its disposition/experience.

Its decent stuff. But ill be honest in that when I bought my iwom I don't use heavy bibs often. The warmth those things offer on stand cannot be compared to. I ended up with gander house brand bibs and jacket on clearance for times of still hunting. The stand hunter duds are indeed quality though. I enjoyed them while I owned them.

Deer Defenses: 1. Smell 2. Sound 3. Vision I don't any qualification is needed on a deer's sense of smell. With sound, deer have been proven to hear approximately in the same range and capability as humans. The biggest difference is the design of their ears and the ability to rotate those ears independently of one another. They act like big satelite dishes. Upon picking up sound, they can focus direction much better than we can, and can pinpoint sounds pretty quickly and to the spot. The saying about bringing a buck in on a string while calling or rattling is misleading...off course they'll come in on a string, they know where the sound came from. The smart ones just somehow KNOW to approach slightly downwind of the sound location to confirm a second sense (sight and/or smell). I've found triggering #1 is a done deal on most deer. Sometimes you'll get one over on a younger deer. In cases where people state mature bucks walk in downwind, it's most cases the hunter doesn't understand scent dispersal. It's not a line...it's more like an invisible flowing 3-d river. Thermals come into play. A morning hunt with a buck walking in downwind just like means your thermals pulled your scent stream above that buck's nose is all. Some people also say less pressured deer can be fooled. Maybe so, but I'm not lucky enough to hunt those deer farms. You can sometimes fool a deer over on #2. But, I've found older bucks to be super wary when they hear a sound they associate with danger or don't know. I can think of a handful of times where sounds I made appearingly brought in bucks (such as peeing out of the stand onto leaves). But, for the most part, I've seen deer steer off course after hearing a tink of metal, a cough, etc. Younger deer are a mixed-bag...sometimes they pay no mind. #3 is the hardest to get a read on. I've had mature bucks look right through me- into my soul it feels like - and I've gone on to kill them. Other times, I've had bucks get that "half-alert" posture, not being able to pick up on #1 or #2 defenses. And, I've had a few bucks run for the next county, but nowhere near as often. I think visual cues rank much lower from my experience. They may pick you up in a tree or blind, but for some reason, it doesn't always immediately result in an overt negative reaction.

Good store for certain products. The prices on firearms are solid for a retail store. You can also find deals on certain items...for example, my SST/sabots for the ML are anywhere from $2-5 cheaper regular price than any place else. Of course, some items, such as stands/game cams, are over-priced. But, it's a good store. Lots of selection in the Newark store, but I get the impression they had to cram in more than the sq. ft allowed. The aisles are very small in the hunting section.

I wouldn't say I am 100% ready, but that's rarely the case. Only once every few years do I feel "ready"...Hoping I can get some glassing in and the chance to fix one or two minor details that need fixing in the time ahead of the season. It's coming up quickly.

I enjoy upstate NY. There's a nice life to be had here, but I'll be honest, the taxes are just insane...from the pricing to the way it is simply conducted. Case in point, I have a split level. The lower level has no egress directly outside. Downstairs is two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room. Also is the utility room (washer/dryer, furnace, w. heater, etc.). My insurance company calls this house a 2 bedroom 1 bath at 990 sq ft, because it doesn't have the egress. My town taxes me at 4 bedroom/2 bath at 2,000 square ft (including upstairs)...even after made being aware that there's no egress. Sure, is it a technicality? Yes. But, the town is quick to jump on any technicality that would earn more revenue, so it should go both ways.

Wow, couldn't see that chunk missing on my phone last night. Odd.
-
It could be just the winter coat coming in. The ir makes it impossible to really see if if is loss or just new winter coat I process. If not...the most realistic cause of that is wire fencing. When you see shows on tv and see that spot on the back...from a fence. Wire fencing is much more common out there.

Lots of beer meant for citrus accompaniment. Lemon with a lot of belgians.
-
Beers of the world is a nice place. I like some of those belgians and those blue moon esque beers like ufo. Also like Goose Island summer ale. Arrogant bastard doesn't really taste all that great to me. I can do one but that's it. I know I'm in the minority there.

First timer ever hunting I had a deer about 30 inches nose to my barrel and the deer lived. That safety worked no matter how hard I pulled the trigger. Hooked.
