  1. I predict Edmunds, barring injury, will have a much more successful career. Kid is 22 years old. Milano is a good LB but will never be a great. Edmunds has that potential IMO. Edmunds did not play well yesterday though. Needs to do better.
  2. The mental turnovers are the bad ones. One was a bad INT, one was simply Aaron Donald who arguably is the best player in the league and likely a lock for best defensive player in league, and then two run plays with one of them that were bad play calls IMO. He's come close to turning over the ball and has got lucky - alot of those were mental lapses IMO.
  3. Either way it's a torrid pace. He's on tap to exceed 5,000 passing yard, 50 TDs passing, and 10 rushing TDs in regular season. Obviously it'll level off as the grind and better teams continue to impact, but we're three games into a 16 game season and I don't think anyone would have put those stats down for Allen ahead of the season start. Some of those plays he makes though is epic cringe. He just has to harness it to get to the "live to play another down." I don't think he got enough credit for that PI call. I suspect he knew that was happening and led that ball there to get the call.
  4. Looks like a life well lived!
  5. I have a few with around a quarter million images ballpark. Unfortunately they both finally died due to exposure of the elements (case dry rotting and leaking). 2012 model year Coverts.
  6. I was watching Bill Winke talk about selling his farm and he even noted how much of an impact EHD had on his heard and noted that it was a 5-year rebound period. Keep in mind his ground arguably might have been some of the best managed in the country and he had a five year rebound period. Looks like its still pretty rough and going. You guys need some cold weather asap!!!!
  7. Fourth sentence is what is most common with lower end cams; that and consistent reliability. More of a crapshoot. When you get a good one though it tends to work for a long while. But, the hardware is where they have to cut corners - at $40, minus shipping and logistics, you're talking a very small cost of production and small profit margins. Also, CS can be suspect. I have a few direct cams, but none go into my best or even middle of the road spots.
  8. Ha, add that one to the list too. Forgot about that one.
  9. It's funny how observations impact the decisions we make. We all have those kinds of decisions. Hot days do not rule me out. The oldest buck I've killed was that one on 10/1 and it was 70 that day. My 2015 buck was a t-shirt sunny day. The biggest buck I've ever seen on the hoof while I was in the stand was on a day where it was very warm; Moog had a t-shirt and lightweight Adidas track pants on because he didn't have gear light enough to be wearing in the heat. I unfortunately know that deer scored 176 and I saw him at like 230-3PM in blazing sun. I can't say I enjoy hunting those warm days - especially when I'm tired and that warm sun hits in mid afternoon. Ugh. Sleep city. But I do push through it.
  10. All day Sunday is fun "fall" stuff with the wife. Apples, tree peeping, etc. Then three months of deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer hunting.
  11. I used to think that alot but I have changed over time. I think you'd have to have a 9/1 or Labor Day timestamp to really get that. Shifts happen with velvet peel and changing food sources. 9/15 doesn't clear the first one.
  12. I've killed half of my bucks in October and probably a third of them since moving to 10/1 between 10/1 and 10/20. Including a very old buck on opener in 2012. Seems crazy to not take advantage of known patterns when there has been no related hunting pressure.
  13. phade

    Range finder

Bushnell makes several cheaper options in the 100-125 range if you shop around. Halo is of the WGI family.
  14. Needs a killing freeze. Usually a few.
  15. so it continues.. Four counties now.
  16. I really want to do this but I have a direct fear that I'd love it. Alot of people I know who have done it, said that it almost ruined whitetail hunting for them. Since getting out west is costly and time-consuming, I'd be frustrated being relegated to deer hunting here that didn't have the enjoyment it does now for me. I do know that archery success rates can be pretty low in some OTC scenarios. Maybe consider a MZ or regular season to increase odds? Someday I will get there.
  17. I'd probably plant it now if everything is ready. Rape doesn't produce a bulb so you'll get leafy growth just not as much of it. Still will serve as an attraction.
  18. With my back surgery this year, I went almost 11 months without pulling a bow back. Been shooting for about 10 days now; not at the level I was pre-surgery but each successive session is better. My normal regimen was literally one arrow an end. Make that arrow count. I'd rarely shoot more than 15 arrows in any session with many days being 3-5 arrows total. I've been doing that for about five years now and it seems to work well. This year is different. I am shooting more arrows but still one arrow an end. Trying to build the form and muscles back into memory. In most years, I'm comfortable with a 40 yard shot in the right scenario. This year, I'm pretty sure I'd pass on that unless I really keep improving to the point I am comfortable. Max for me is probably 30 this season in right conditions. We'll see.
  19. I've been through two outbreaks; it took 4-5 years for hunting to get back to a close to normal. As noted by others here who have been around it. I'd call that long-term in my book. Both of those times I was on a 4,300 acre block with more than 100/acre per hunter density. No thanks - it's not short-term and it's not a small deal IMO.
  20. It's because scientific institutions such as Cornell describe EHD this way: EHD primarily affects white-tailed deer and can cause significant mortality events, particularly in the northern United States. Yet, the DEC, in their infinite wisdom, put this line in their September 3 press release announcing EHD has been confirmed: EHD outbreaks do not have a significant long-term impact on deer populations. That right there, folks, explains everything. BTW, the DEC sends their samples to Cornell for testing...
  21. Sounds at least like there is a good plan in place then.
  22. I've been to both of the recent playoff games. The HOU game was a huge failure on the coaches. I wish they got more of the knock against them for that. The late game calls were HORRENDOUS. The go for it on the fourth down should have been a field goal attempt - statistically that call was the best of three options - FG attempt, punt, and then go for it. They chose the worst of the three options. Fast forward to now, and they run their QB in a spot where they clearly should not have. I am a big fan of Frazier for DC. Not a fan of Daboll. Tepid on McDermott. Good to great on alot of things, but the in-game decisions are horrendous and noticeably worse as the game gets closer to the end. It's a fatal flaw IMO.
  23. If they push this through you closing your trail til the hunting season is over?
  24. CCI209M primers are the better option for BH209. The stuff likes it hot.
