  4. I'd be gone in a heartbeat if the wife would let us move. Working in wNY there are limited corporate gigs to work and I am lucky enough to have one. That said, other cities and states offer a more competitive marketplace for employment in my corporate sector. Wife just won't have it now, but we're in alignment that retirement means being outside of NY. I lead a group in Tampa/St. Pete and travel there once a month - its so competitive there that I've been given offers to consider literally sitting at the sports bar/eatery located amongst 20-25 different corporate buildings in just one commercial park. The border along VA/NC is pretty interesting. Hunting opportunities are cheap to come by through paper and lumber company leases, taxes on a small chunk of private are minimal, and you get the seasons still, with usually a couple dustings of snow from time to time. But, not the depths of winter up here. I think shooting a trophy up here is more likely, but they have some decent deer down there, too. Employment is a bit difficult in some sectors, though. There are plenty of lakes along that line...Gaston is nearby and is a gem. Clear water! Getting older is interesting; my wife and I are starting to talk about what we want to do with retirement. Still a long ways to go, but that wasn't even a discussion it seems like yesterday. Time flies. Good luck with your search!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. When was the last time a RB took a team to the SB and won it on his shoulders? And when was it not paired with an elite QB or near-elite QB? How many SBs has Peterson won? Gurley as noted? Bell - even with his QB. There's been a few QBs who have carried the load to the SB and won. Marshawn Lynch might the closest and most recent high draft pick RB, but he didn't do it with a scrub QB, exactly.
  9. Taking an RB as high as Barkley might go is like peeing away $100M over the next 5-7 years. Given analytics, that's a lot of money to be better used for ROI metrics. Barkley at #2 will be paid on the level with what McCoy currently makes. Think about that for a second. Getting a QB at a 5 year lock when the elite QBs now go for $25M-$30M per year is a much smarter play...that lock is much less than $25M/yr. I believe he is the best RB since Peterson to come out, with a honorable mention to Elliott. Still, elite RBs don't cost $25-30M per year, they have a shorter shelf life, and can be reasonably replaced with cheaper and nearly as effective options. Elite QBs get the salary because of the rarity they are in the marketplace. As much as I despise some of Mayfield's antics and decisions, his skillsets are solid. Question is whether he can simply mature. Allen...he's boom or absolute bust. Reminds of a Daunte Culpepper. Darnold and Rosen - both good, but neither excites me as the next elite QB. I'm sure one will make it though. Darnold's INT rate against collegiate level defensive backs does concern me - average NFL DBs are a big leap above the typical PAC 10 athlete. Odds are that either Jackson or Rudolph will be a second-tier QB just below elite at some point. The other will be a product of the team's system or college format, and won't amount to much. Mayfield in NO would be best landing spot for mentoring, but NO sucks for a player with weak off-the-field decisioning. No idea who the Bills should take - as long as they get their guy, then it is what it is. This GM/HC pairing just might be the beginning of a growing future. I think this year and next year determines it - if they are both here for year four...there will be a dynasty. Not many teams set expectations of regression like they did this year - shows that they have a real grasp on leadership and talent development.
  10. That area is nice. Enjoy it! Runnings is a nice place to spend some time and $$$.
  11. We just keep going around and around on the train tracks laid into a circle here. Meat or antlers is narrow-minded thinking - clearly evidenced by the results of this "poll."
  12. I LOLd...I remember that thread. I totally forgot about it....if I remember right it got locked finally because it was crashing the site that thread got so long.
  13. I post a lot less here nowadays. This past year, I posted close to 10% of the number of posts I did in prior years, annually. And most of those are camera sales-related. Meaningful content maybe 1%, ha. This forum like any other has its pros and cons. Between work, moving, and other things going on, I don't often dive into the threads where there is debate nowadays. That'll reduce the post count. Plus, the topic variety seems to be pretty narrow at times of year and there are a lot of posts that seem to get steered off course even faster than in early years of the forum. What I do like is that there are some really nice people to meet in-person. Also like to see people's successes, etc.
  14. All - I am sending in a Browning trail cam order Thursday morning. Message me if you want prices relative to 2017 or 2018 cams. Thanks.
  15. Talk about a name from the past...welcome guy! Probably been what 10-15 years easy?
  16. I've had 7 hens and a roo for the past year. Most of mine are heritage breeds like SLWs, cochins, etc. with a few Americauna (not Americana) mixed in. Have six bantam Mille Fluer D'Uccle chicks we picked up yesterday...daughter wants some smaller birds she can call and raise her own. Have some copper marans and lavender orpingtons on the way and that'll be it for this year. Been swaying on growing out some meat birds but probably will end up trying that next year. Got rid of the roo about a month or two ago. He was a good flock protector but got hyper aggressive with my wife and wasn't the best when mating the hens. After he left I had to deal with some of the hens re-sorting the hierarchy. I don't let mine free range. I built a hoop coop (well, it's almost done), and I wish I did that from day 1. Those things are cheap, movable, and can be built up like Fort Knox if necessary. I couldn't imagine having to take care of 100...build out looks nice. That's a short term pain long term gain set-up though.

  20. I saw fewer does this year than any other season I have hunted NY. We hunt some pretty dense WMUs, too. It wasn't just noticeable, it was felt in the form of unfilled tags, and that doesn't happen very often.
  21. Happy birthday guy. I'll admit, first pass reading...I thought you wrote mini-blowing.
  22. I learn more about the deer I will be hunting in the fall between snow melt and green up, with the only exception being the last bit of cam intel and glassing just before opening day. Sign is almost never more clear than it is right now.
  23. dont shed hunt...scout and walk the whole thing.
  24. Spartan sold. I'm not seeing the spot where to close this thread, but consider it closed.
