If the belt snapped there will be lots of belt fibers everywere, make sure u clean the clutch up good if that's the case. It can cause major clutch issues if u dont.

Sat for the final time this evening. It was perfect, snow falling light wind, the perfect end to a great season I'll never forget. Didn't see any deer but that didn't matter, I had no intentions of shooting. Best of luck to those going out with their muzzle stuffers and archery equipment.

A 90lb live weight doe would b a fawn. 170 is big for a buck, that was a old slob of a doe.

best/worst game animal you've eaten?
Gencountyzeek replied to rachunter's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
One of the best I would have to say is kangaroo I had in Australia. It's served raw on a rock that is scalding hot. U cook it to your liking. Tasted like a good cut of beef. Never really had anything I'd say is bad, or atleast I don't remember. -
Ok, I'll break the suspense... Moog wins closest, 131 5/8 gross 125 5/8 net

I know it's a trophy whatever it scores. It's not at the taxidermist yet, and I'm already missing him thinking about not seeing him for months.
-
Scored my buck, why your thoughts? Probably more than u think.

The group of deer I saw were making their way to my BIL. He saw one walking the path that would give him a easy shot. Then someone on my neighbors property started walking around and spooked them. Well he's calling it a season. If I get out tomorrow I'll try to get a doe for him. Goodluck and stay warm everyone.

Got a group of deer about 65 yards away in some thick stuff behind my foodplot. Ones beded down.
-
Goodluck everyone. I'm out with my brother in law hoping he gets his 1st of the year.
-
Thanks everyone, lasered the shot when I got home from work. 218 yards, still can't stop looking at him. Be back out tomorrow with my brother in law trying to get him his 1st deer this year.

I'd say mid 120's gross maybe 130, he's pretty symmetrical. Awsome deer. I bet he nets low 120's. I have a 5x3 8pt on the wall that grossed 122 netted 111, mines taller but that buck is wider, more points, which means more measurements. Awsome deer.

Kinda cool the 2nd buck in the pic with the guy I just shot is the buck I shot during archery.

The velvet pic was the last time I saw this buck until that nite pic in nov. Talked to the neighbor this a.m. he said he's seen him 3 times but no shots, Lucky for me!

Story in the harvest thread. My photographer for me and the buck was my 7 yr old son. He did pretty good. Off to work for me. Goodluck everyone.

2016 HuntingNY Gun Harvest thread
Gencountyzeek replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
This is the buck I've wanted since I got pics of him in august. After that he disappeared until I hot a night time pic of him in late November. Got up this morning and decided I wanted to slowly walk back to the woods bordering my corn field. I wasn't going to stay long have to get the kids fed and dressed by 8 for when the bus comes. So I'm walking back through my backyard, suns up already. I'm 120 yards behind the house and online with my "shootin shack" I have on the edge of the corn field. I look out and see a deer a couple hundred yards out. First time seeing a deer in the field during daylight in over a month. I decided to seek into the shack. It's like walking on glass. I get in the shack, turn the leupold up to 9x. He's staring at me. He turns and starts walking away. I'm to nervous/excited and don't even think about yardage. I know to the back of my field it's 323 yards from the shack. I assume we're he is the bullet will drop some. He turns to slightly quartering away. I settle the cross hairs on the base of the neck were it meet the shoulder. If the bullet drops it will hit shoulder... BOOM! No deer... I go walking out into the field and there he is, dead were he was standing. Bullet didn't drop, entered base of the neck and exited behind the jaw. He was btween 220 and 235 yards.Luckily no major damage for the mount.- 47 replies

It's up to the parent to teach their children right and wrong. My 7 year old son knows that it's illegal to feed deer in ny, but he also knows it's legal in other states. He watches alot of hunting on tv. It's ok for kids to see differant things, sheltering them is one of many issues these days. I think it's hilarious by the way. If I was that motivated our elf would be doing similar things. I would have used a raindeer though...
