I think as it stands Pa is gonna run all day the 2nd half of the season? Not sure. I have never seen where it would pose a threat to the population. I have always thought it would be a good idea. Or atleast til 2 or so. Had many birds working good around noon time. Welp gotta leave him and come back tomorrow.LOL!

As many bears that are turning up everywhere. And the lack of bears being taken by hunters. Some areas should allow baiting. They claim that bears are gonna become accustomed to people feeding them. Makes no sense. Bears are gonna eat what they want to and from where ever they can. I have had bears in the back yard many times. I didn't feed them. They took what they wanted. i'm willing to bet that at some point down the road the state will legalize baiting in areas of high bear densities. And as long as there are state parks and picnic baskets, bears will see humans as a provider of food. Heres one of the bear's from last year who visited a few times. He slept in the neighbors tree while i mowed. This was one early dark morning headin to the truck to go turkey hunting. He scared me and i scared him.

Gas Drilling on State Forest land?????
TH41 replied to sits in trees's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
If the gas is there, it will be extracted one way or another. No matter where it is.And if drinking water is or was contaminated do you really think anyone gives a turd. The only people that will, are the people directly affected. And if they suck all the water sources dry to drill they will be allowed to do so. And unless it is determined or stated that a persons property runs the thickness of earths crust. They will come in from the sides, they already do. Horizontal drilling, down and over. it's another one of those things ,thats gonna happen. Protests only bring attention to what is already goin on. Or has been going on. -

Crossbows will be legalized in the near future. And they will be allowed during the regular archery season as well in the late season. Like rifles, crossbows will be here. Huntin will still be the same. Just another option of weapon to use. the same people not taking deer with a compound or rifle. Will be the same people not taking deer with a crossbow. No matter what side someone stands on the issue. They are on their way. -

Those marathon hunts are the best. And to top off the season by taking those tough birds very fulfilling. Way to stay with him nice bird!

One of the things i look forward to during the preseason is visual scouting. These are some from last year. This year I hope to have just as much fun. Each season for nearly 3 decades the excitement remains the same. I hope to get some nice pics this year.

I currently have 8 wgi. 2 Ir4's and 6 s1.3 cheapies. A cuddie back that was a gift. And leaf river that went downhill and then crapped the bed. I've got no problem with the cheaper cameras. The biggest benefit is I'm able to cover more area on the larger properties I hunt. Good luck with your selection.

How is Gregg Ritz still in the hunting Industry?
TH41 replied to SplitG2's topic in General Chit Chat
It's what the sport of hunting has become for some. Show me the money. I'm somewhat amazed at how many prohunter's have cropped up in the last two decades. Or should I say hunting as an industry. They make claims they had no idea! All i can say is B.S! They know when they are breaking the law. Hell they could be shootin their big bucks from Nebraska in Kansas. Or they could be fillin several of their tags in one state. The camera doesn't know.Unless its maybe in Texas. Ted Nugent,Greg Ritz, there will be more along the way for sure. -
Ya just had to post that!! LOL! I try to fight off the fever til atleast the middle of february. But seeing a large group of longbeards ,almost every morning on my way home from work. Doesn't help! ;D Nice couple of birds you smacked last year. It was somewhat tough last year. We were able to get some nice longbeards. But had to work harder than past seasons for them. As many longbeards that I have been seeing I hope it's a good sign. And hope the woods are thunderin come spring.

Using decoys you can occasionally position a strutting decoy,so that a gobbler or gobblers will come in and turn their backs to ya.Either strutting or standing. I position my strutter decoy so the back of the fan is facing the direction from which the tom is approaching. They like to blindside the decoy. Makes it easier to draw on them with their rear end toward you and they are distracted. If they are just standing, back to you. I aim just above the crease where the tail starts. Fan tail up, right in their O ring(texas heart). Broad side I follow up the leg and mid body. I've had it take one or both wings out of the picture. And they usually can't get the push off the ground also. And definitely practice shooting from the blind in a sitting or kneeling position. I've had them come in and had to get off the stool/chair, to my knees to shoot. Good luck this spring hope you guys get a crack at a few.

I own a recurve ,a longbow( Had an accident with it). 3 compounds and have shot and owned 2 x bows. There is a definite advantage when you compare the compound and x bow with the recurves and longbows. But the comparison between x bows and compounds is a much smaller gap. just speaking from my experience with them. But I have no problem with whatever method is deemed legal. Its not the weapon used. It's the one using the weapon. There are downfalls with all of them.To have the freedom or option to choose what to use would be not so bad. I would have to get a new x-bow though. -
Not sure yet. But I do love to go.
