LOL! Now ya got an open spot on the list. Way to go!!

There is nothing wrong with that bird at all. It was a tough spring season. Had to use more patience than I'm use to to get em. We took all our birds up in the morning. Congrats and good shooting!

I'll be honest with ya after seeing a few shaker calls or the infamous lohman pumper call. Not to big on them. Yeah I would get yourself either a boxcall or some type of pot friction calls. Another thing is you can pick up a single or double reeded mouthcall. And just learn the kee kee. You don't have to be an expert on the mouth call to do it. And can be the most effective call on locating a fall flock.Hens and poults and even longbeards have answered the kee kee. Good luck I hope ya get a shot at some.

They haven't been as vocal the past week and a half. But they are spending more time in the woods for this time of the year. A lot of mast. Cornfields will start to appeal to them eventually?? LOL! Pattern them is the best fall tactic I can tell ya. If your not seeing scratchings, droppings,or hearin them. They may not be there, sorry to say. Keep at them they go in fall feeding patterns. And they can travel a long ways in a day.

Nice buck ! I think I'd put him on the list too.

Split or double main beam.Pretty cool nice pics

Thankfully not many! And the price for ammo in my rifle it's a good thing. I had an old doe several seasons ago take three in the boiler room. The first and second shot there was no reaction of being hit ,I mean she swayed a bit. Thought I missed or made a bad hit put number 3 in her and she went in a heap. And I have seen guys hit deer in vitals and go for a long tracking job.

will you take a deer of 2.5 years old or younger?
TH41 replied to skyzmine's topic in General Hunting
Yep pretty much hunt along the same lines. The best I can take or the best buck I can find with some age. We do shoot all age classes of deer from our herd though. No button bucks. Not always perfect but for the past 20 plus years. Two button bucks were harvested. These are my standards though not the rules. I've taken a few 3 .5 's that only scored 105 to 115. And 3.5's that scored better. -
Big Congrats to Brandon. Thats puttin em down. :)

When I was too young to hunt my father, grandfather, and uncles took me along. My attraction to the outdoors came from many outings and seeing wild life up close and undisturbed. The past two seasons,I have began taking a camera to capture animals that weren't targets . Deer ,turkeys, basically anything in the wild that would catch my eye. I also grew up having wild animals here and there injured or orphaned. The reason why I hunt is for conservation of the game species and the food they provide. I believe for every license I buy and every animal I take it is helping the ecosystem as a whole. And I wouldn't say the tradition of hunting was passed down.I'd say its more the tradition of enjoying wildlife on their home turf. The pursuit is a lot of fun. But learning something new just about every year, about each species I hunt is pretty memorable also. I hope it is never taken away from me. It is pretty big part of my life.

X bows will probably be legal next season. Not concerned about it. Pa and Ohio have them hasn't changed much of anything.People are still enjoying their hunting seasons and both states arent doin to bad in the deer take either. It is a shame that anyone who can legally hunt in ny.Is'nt able to because of a handicap of any type. Watched my dad go through a bunch of bs,before his passing.

Finding wild turkeys to hunt in fall can be tricky
TH41 replied to HuntingNY-News's topic in New York State Hunting News
Nice cool or cold nights will fire them up the following morning some time. Visual scouting rainy overcast days ,fields and openings are good hangouts. Windy days check down in bowls or good windbreak areas. -
Down near Wysox,Pa and Rome Pa. I guess they have been established there for quite sometime. Guys I know who hunt and live there, have shot some. Now NY, from what I was told. Has had small pockets of them, going on its 2nd or 3rd year??. That is why there are probably more and more sightings. And I wouldn't doubt one bit some are northern Pa transients. I have a bad feeling they may become much more common soon. I'm not sure how serious the state is taking this infestation. You hear and read about them trying to nip this in the butt. But who knows we will see?? I guess Pa is making an effort to locate them and erradicate them. I'm not far from the pa border, where I hunt in 3 counties.Basically 5 to 15 minutes in all 3. Havent heard anything about them in these areas yet. And I have definitely been asking around.

"Friends of Animals" to hold press conference at DEC
TH41 replied to papabear's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
Yeah they look like throw back science teachers from the 60's and 70's with yellow teeth. And that, I just ate s#!t sandwich mouth breather type! The people that have no life, but to protest things, cause they are unhappy with their own pathetic lives. And yep they all look like they need some serious vitamin D.And some need to stop protestin soap product companies and take a bath atleast once a friggin week. Not tryin to stereotype them or nothin. I just don't like them, and hopefully they don't like me. Know a few of those fruit cakes gotta deal with them often. -
Your not wrong on your decision. It was your decision. I would have dispatched her.

Well after reading some of this. The author thinks people are ignorant for following the laws. And then there is an english major. Do i support Ar's sure? Do i spell or use good grammar not really! But as a supporter of antler restrictions for my own personal goal in hunting. I definitely don't see how coming out and calling people ignorant because they don't see it my way,is gonna promote or justify it. Or help any cause for that matter. When or if the state sets antler restrictions across the state then it will be law. But for anyone who takes the deer they decide to take, it's their decision. I don't look down on anyone for what they want. Hunting is not for just particular people who have particular agendas. It's for everyone. By the way last year i made a mistake on my own personal standards. It was the last day of rifle. I had two bucks get switched around a good 9 and a small 8. I pulled the trigger and that was it. When i got closer the 9 ran off and there lays the small 8. I passed on that deer on video and have trail cam pics of him around my stands, during archery. I was disappointed with myself. But if someone else had taken that deer. And they were happy,i would be happy for them. I love seeing people trying to promote their agendas in this way. And it amazes me how many of them have never had the satisfaction of even taking a buck, let alone a mature or big racked buck. I like venison and like hunting mature bucks. But I have taken my share of deer and at this point in my hunting life I try to be realistic. Take the best buck i can and have passed on several for several years. I hope I spelled and used proper grammar. My next book is comin out in january.

Unless they invited me to sit in. Not in a million years, public or private. if it is a big a$$ swamp or pond,I'd set up elsewhere and well away from them,if it is the only place I have to hunt that is. if i have another place ,see ya. Sorry to hear that happened. Some people honestly could give two s#!ts. And some people honestly think it is public land and they have a right to hunt there too.And throw common decency to the wind. Hope you have another place to hunt for back up?
