  1. Same thing as with sheep, you gotta wear rubber boots and put the critter of interests hind feet into your boots... No first hand experience with this, but heard of it,haha.
  2. Your perspective again...Who is keeping score anyway? We all have a tendency to overlook stuff when like-minded people say it and notice it when opposing folks say it.
  3. It is not that hard but it is a journey. It can be confusing but you will learn about your form and bow. Shoot more than one bareshaft to rule out a weird arrow. And don't shoot when you get tired and your form starts to break down. As far as your bow,how heavy of an arrow do you want to end up with? what spine do you shoot now,300 or 250? If you go real heavy up front you need a stiffer spine.
  4. What is your DL and poundage? I bet we could get you pretty close for arrow spine if you wanna give it a whirl. Generally it is better to be overspined than underspined, nobody wants a carbon arrow blowing up on release.
  5. Yup,spine is important too. Grip is as well,I was struggling with mine for a while. And correct Drawlength also affects arrow flight. Pretty crazy how much is involved in that. In the end it was pretty easy for me to go to a high foc arrow combo. My arrows are about 560 grains and I shoot a 60# bow with 30" DL. 300 spine is fine for my set up. I shot a small doe quartering away and the arrow got stuck on the opposite leg. It was a downward angle and I almost hit the leg bone knuckle head on. The single bevel 2 blade head cut the bulgy part of the knuckle, that was pretty impressive. Bad thing was i didnt get my head back,it must have come out at some point,I couldn't find it. The arrow was stuck in the doe for most of the distance traveled.
  6. A broadhead doesn't plane if your arrow flies straight. It is true that an arrow and bow are easier to tune at slower speeds.
  7. If you hit heavy bone that is correct. If you hit ribs anything will do.
  8. I will say again that the intermittent fasting is amazing for that. I used to snack and have a cocktail as well. Now if I am fasting I know I am done with all of that at 3 p.m. I think your nutritionist friend is wrong, look deeper into the fasting. When your body doesn't have to digest food it goes into repair mode because it doesn't have to put energy into digestion. This is supposed to help with insulin levels,a1c1,and general cell health. It is definetely worth a try in my opinion. I am not even overweight and eat very healthy and am pre diabetic. I hate my blood work. So that is the main motivation for me to do the fasting. I am curious what my blood work will be next May... I did drop 10# doing it 3-4 days a week. That late evening eating is the worst...
  9. Hey Chef, have you looked into intermittent fasting? My wife and I started doing that several days a week and it has been pretty easy. We don't eat for about sixteen hours and have an 8 hr window to eat normal. This has a number of health benefits aside from weight loss. It is easier than I thought and it is kind of neat to be in charge of your belly again. I used to eat as soon as I got hungry, but now I realize I don't have to and the hunger actually subsides. Anyway, kudos for getting on the right track.
  10. You remember correctly. This law should restrict inefficient stoves, not all firewood. It would be pretty stupid to throw aside a local resource like firewood that is considered carbon neutral in many countries. It just has to be burned clean. I hope the egg heads will come to their senses before outlawing any carbon emitting heat source. It does sound very unlikely,as there will be a huge uproar if it really comes up for a vote like that.
  11. It will get better but there also will be plenty of times you see nothing.
  12. Nice,I gotta look into a local one here. I think they start in January...sure beats not picking the bow up again until April. I also shoot 60#,why not make it a little easier on my shoulders? I want to shoot for a long long time...
  13. Holy cow I can't believe it. I never win anything! Thanks for putting this on Rob,it was a ton of fun!
  14. I am about to head out for a slow walk on the last day as well. I have room in the freezer if I manage to find some deer.
  15. I shot my doe after seeing her on my way to my barn. Meat!! I am not picky during gun season when it comes to the experience. But we all have different approaches...
  16. Yesterday's drives were a complete bust. On the last one we kicked up two good bucks but before anybody was in position, and those bucks did not stick around, full speed escape for those two. We all were stumped as to where the deer were hiding that day. We covered a lot of ground...
  17. First drive of the day was uneventful. Sleet here in 4F. There are 5 of us stirring up some deer on this drive hopefully, everybody wants some meat.
  18. Nothing new, crows are as adaptable as deer and flourish in our man made environments. I saw a flock in Utica/New Hartford years ago while having dinner,it was a never ending cloud of birds passing by. I had to look it up afterwards,it was creepy.
  19. It seems odd that all those things loosened up. Usually you don't need loctite on the screws. There must be quite a bit vibration to loosen all those things up.The whisker biscuit needs to be in the right spot left to right, I assume the height doesn't adjust. I had one and the cheaper model doesn't adjust up and down. It seems like a good idea to take it back to the shop and have them check everything out. The only thing I ever had that loosened up some was the string stop. It seems odd that everything that could loosen did just that on your bow.
  20. What happened things just loosened up? String stop is what you mean? I would shoot the bow and just check the screws to make sure stuff isn't loosening up again.
  21. I was working until dark and saw so.e does come out to feed around 4.15. This area gets no hunting pressure and I had a hard time ignoring them. This time of year I want to kill deer. In a month from now they would not have gotten a 2nd look, haha.
  22. sure you could be fine. this guy was like well over 80% of the population, a little too much around the middle. He also was active. That is the thing about the rona, you don't know how it is going to affect you. Do whatever floats your boat.
