  1. Hi virgil. 2016 and poundage is only adjustable by backing out limb screws, with these down to about 55#. Draw length for these bows is not adjustable, you have to buy different modules. I have some 26.5" ones. I think they run around $50. You can check with straight arrow archery, they deal with matthews. If you want lower draw weight you would need different limbs.
  2. Selling my halon x,30 "DL 60#Limbs in black. Comes with apex covert pro sight and matthews 4 arrow quiver and quad pro rest. $650 for the whole package.
  3. you roast It low and slow and you don't have to trim. All that fat and white stuff melts into the sauce and is awesome. I discovered this cooking technique just a few years back and it makes butchering so much easier. Used to hate on the neck meat, now shanks and neck are some of my favorites.
  4. If you don't like the crockpot taste you can cook it in a Dutch oven at 325 for 3 hrs. Just like osso bucco
  5. Agree, you didn't cook them long enough. I just made some today and they were awesome. Had them in the slow cooker for 5 hrs. They were delicious and no wasted meat or bone. I am making bone broth tomorrow. You almost can't overcook them,as long as you don't cook it too hot. Low and slow for the cuts with the most connective tissue. Even the tendons turn soft. Neck needs a little less time,as does shoulder. I would not grind the shanks without doing serious trimming,I used to but love not having to do that anymore. Saves soo much time.
  6. Dumbest statement of the day goes to... There are no guarantees with this thing. The trend is that healthier people do better, but I have seen some remotely healthy people die. Hope it passes fast for you and yours Don.
  7. NY is not a bad state for meat hunters, but it is far from the best. Do you have any idea of what the limits are in some southern states?
  8. Plus if you wound one chances are you will be able to catch up and finish the job. Not ideal but in that scenario I also would take riskier shots than on bare ground or small properties.
  9. I am a meat hunter first but do appreciate different approaches. It is fun to watch somebody really good at something do their thing,be it hunting or a craft or whatever really.
  10. not sure if it is the one I saw. it was very well filmed and I think he followed that buck for two days. After jumping him they stopped and ate a sandwich to give him time to calm down. that was the one i watched
  11. I thought he did alright for a first timer. Could have been a lot worse. That tracking is a pretty specific method and buckmaster would probably agree that it takes a lot of time to get really good at it. There is a great video with Hal Blood out there tracking a big Maine buck in the woods, check that one out. If I was a buck I would hate to have him on my trail...
  12. I like seeing yokes. They have their place in the world. I saw a real blonde one still hunting a few weeks ago. He went right through the bedding area I was stalking,oh well he beat me to it.
  13. You really think if it was designed the creators could not have come up with something.ething better than a 1 to 3% death rate? That does not control any population...Think things through a little more.
  14. Thornless Blackberries are not half as vigorous as normal ones.
  15. That sucks Dino. Did the cord wood walls burn too? Anyway,I have a rich client that owns a big farm and they turned the saphouse into a pool house and they have over 300 buckets they will never use again. I can ask if you can buy some,it is in Morris, otsego county
  16. Look up invisible deer fencing. It is a 1"mesh I got it in 7' tall. The idea is the deer can't see where it ends so won't jump it. I fenced in my 3/4 acre garden and had zero deer go over. Spacing between posts can be 25'. Or staple it to the trees if you are in the woods. I would recommend the guide wire, mine is plastic, for the top to keep it from sagging and that will help with freezing rain/wet snow pull on the fence.
  17. You mean soon there won't be any red states left? Inconceivable!
  18. Last year was my first for neck roasts. I made pulled venison with it and loved it,low and slow cooking dissolves all the fat and tissue. I also like the fact that I don't have to trim the neck meat, and it always seems a lot gets left on the bone.
  19. That looks and sounds amazing. This is the first year i saved the necks bone in. I have not cooked one yet but may have to soon.
  20. That would be a smart move, haha. I got mid range lem grinder last year and like it a lot...
  21. April 1st was always what I looked forward to as a sign of the passing winter. Last year I did maple sugaring for the first time and now I look forward to February. I also am looking forward to bow season already, and this year I made a promise to myself to have my firewood done by then. I will focus more time on bow whenever I can,no matter if it is Oct 3rd.
  22. I wish I had a scale last year. I shot a forkhorn in bow season but he seemed big and heavy. Then I shot my best buck to date opening day of gun season and his body looked smaller to me but his rack said 3.5 all day. He also had a lot less fat than the late October bow buck. So this year I bought a scale and only got a few does that I didn't bother weighing.
  23. Everything is relative, and not everybody puts their emphasis on mature bucks. We all get something different from hunting and who cares if one guy manages to kill more mature bucks than another. People take themselves way to serious sometimes. And being a good trophy hunter makes you just that, and not a good person or better than anybody else except for just this one thing.
