We do it with our cottage when we go up to the lake for ice fishing never had any issues. The materials your house is made out of (assuming wood) was meant to expand and contract in the weather along with drywall, floors and all the other good stuff. We never run any water just use 5 gallons pails to flush the toilet. No shower for us the few days we are up there. Probably wouldn't smell each other over all the bean farts and beer burps. I know rodents will want to make entry into the new warm space so be aware if you aren't sealed that well you might have a few extra mice in the spring.

haha you and me both, taking directions from someone that could get lost in a paper bag. I get yelled at everytime that stupid gps says turn and I didn't or she has the damn thing in her lap or hand and I can't see the screen to see the exit or how many streets there are between me and the turn. Gotta love them!

You're not lost until you're out of gas. I got turned around once hunting some state property down here on the southern tier in the Erwin state forest. I headed out in the A.M. decided to make a big loop halfway around the outside of the state property. Managed to get about half way then all hell broke loose. I was trying a stalk on a deer and kept following it not really paying attention to where I was going. All said and done I got back to the truck a little before dark it was a long day and no deer so sucked even more. I was dragging some serious A$$ by the time I got back to the truck. In the process my compass broke (must have been laid next to a magnet or something) and my cell phone was dead. When I ventured out I made sure to have my knife, basic survival stuff like matches and fire starter some old MRE heat pouches (have multiple uses for those) extra socks, space blanket, extra ammo and that about covers it. I sat there for a minute trying to figure out what to do and ended up tracking myself back to some stuff I recognized then I was good. I did not like the feeling of not knowing where I was or how to get back. I figured I could just walk some direction and eventually find a road but wanted to get back to the truck. The other kick to the nuts was it was overcast to the point where you couldn't see the sun. Not a cool feeling at all.

I have to renew my P.A. CC in Jan. 2020, Lets me carry 2/3 of the U.S. attached is the reciprocity map for NY and PA CC. FL permit would get me 5 more states. Utah would only get me 1 more state. Good to know, thought it was all firearms could be seized.

That's a pellet gun? Should be good out to 100 yards with that gun.
-
I've gotten my best group out of the polymer tipped pellets but have just been using some old .177 wad cutters to break it in. I get flyers with those but I'm guessing they are probably 30+ years old. Not sure if it is the pellets, gun, or me but the hollow points don't group very well. The gun has only had 100 shots through it so she still has a lot of break in left. I just shoot at some random stuff I nailed to the pine tree behind the house. I like to hang tin cans and shoot at those to hear the plunk if I hit it.

We have 2 dogs both of shorter hair (Weim and GSP) that acclimated themselves last year to the cold their coats were so thick it was insane. Dogs can adapt to the cold temps if left out over longer periods of time with proper shelter. The dogs this year have been inside next to the woodstove, thin hair and have turned into cold wusses and can't handle being out very long in the cold temps.

I have a Hatsan edge (rifle not pistol) and love it. I threw a 4x scope on it and seems to be pretty accurate. I have only shot it at 40 yards but seems good enough for rat tails and rabbits. Shoots around 1000fps so should be plenty and is cheap to shoot.

Temps Will Rise, Time To Hunt Some Tree Rats

He's a kid that lives at home and probably (hopefully) in high school still. Jeez, Mom gets pissed when kids make a mess of the kitchen because they don't clean up or clean up good enough. -
Wow really? I didn't know that was considered littering...
-
And any implent that "could" have been used confinsacted. So if they used a gun all guns confiscated no exceptions.

O ok gotcha, I was thinking for the 31st deadline.

Q: Are pistol / revolver license holders in New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Westchester County required to recertify using the New York State recertification system (per subsection 10(b) of section 400.00 of the penal law)? A: No. If you currently have a New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County or Westchester County permit, you must follow the requirements that are in place in your county, rather than use the New York State recertification system. November? That is also why I would send it a few days prior to allow the mail to get there and have a 2nd copy ready for the mail on the 31st if the 1st one isn't successfully recieved on their end. Last I knew certified mail comes with a tracking number and can be tracked.

Yeah I don't think people realize it is all your firearms not just your pistols not than one is any worse than the other. On the radio the state troopers are a little worried that much of the NYS pistol holders have not complied with the new rule yet. They are talking about an extension so I'm holding off until a couple days prior to sending it to see if they add an extension. If they add the extension I will hold off until a couple days prior to the extension.

You all seem like a good bunch of people so I'll send out a reminder. Not that I agree with all the bull NYS has us do but I don't want to see someone get pinched for something stupid like not recertifying. Below is a link to NYS trooper site for the online recert and also the paper recert. I recommend the paper recert and once mailed send it certified mail so you have a receipt to you sending it. The troopers don't have any clerks that will be doing this for them so they might actually say screw it and not bother. I look at it this way if they are making us jump through the hoops they should too. Make sure if your permit was issued PRIOR to Janurary 15th 2013 recertify before Janurary 31st 2018 (this month). Paper copy: https://troopers.ny.gov/Firearms/PPB-2.pdf Online: https://firearms.troopers.ny.gov/pprecert/welcome.faces Mods if you would like to move this you can I just figured there are more people that frequent the general hunting chit chat area than the firearms area.

O boy, @wildcat junkie hasn't found this thread yet...I'm going to beat him to it, all you need is a multi-plex or plex style reticle and you can shoot your 500 yards with no hold over. 0 your rifle at 200 and you will be set from 0-500 hold on the target (this is just a guess until wildcat can put it in his ballistic calculator). Pretty sure the intent is ranging their targets faster.

Get a foot pedal, I have used my grinder to stuff with for close to 7 years with no air pockets. The key is never let the throat run out. With the foot pedal it is like have a 3rd arm. I will run the meat down in the throat get off the pedal pack more in and keep going. If you can get your kid to help keep it full it's a win win.

My grandfather has one of the basspro grinders I think his is a #20 or real close to it. I like the ones that www.sausagemaker.com sell. They have one down near me in horseheads.

I plan on installing an interloc on my panel so I can pick and choose what I want to have power and not limit me to just a few circuits.
-
Your pellet doesn't burn with no power? I would be getting a couple deep cycle batteries or at least a power inverter you could hook to your vehicle and run an extension cord.
-
But we all have to live by your philosophy or we are wrong?

Best survival rifle ever made

Exactly, I have friends that fought in the Iraq war and said that the .223 was on the small size for humans and when they shot someone it would take 2 or 3 hits to completely disable the person with center of mass hits. This isn't the movies we are talking about when a guy gets hit from a .223 round and it slings the body back and you see blood gushing out the front and back of the person shot. The .223 was not meant to exit and was meant to wound not kill. The idea is that you will have more people trying to help the wounded taking more than 1 out of the battle per a person shot. -
I get it, but the same guys making excuses for this guys ignorance to the law are the same ones that bash any other hunter for saying they hunt sunlight to last light because it is against the law. They accuse others for being "that hunter" that is irresponsible and reckless but because the guy turned himself in he should be above the law. Sorry the law isn't supposed to be bent because a good guy got caught doing something bad. Just like getting nailed for speeding 1 mph over it is still speeding and breaking the law. I will admit that I don't drive the speed limit and do it knowing I can get a ticket. I'm also not going to speed up when I see cops just because I'm an honest guy.
-
But did you have to know how many points were on it to make it legal? Would you have paid better attention if you knew you could get a ticket/fine?
-
Obviously it wasn't close enough to make out the points, at anything under 40 yards with my binos I can make out how many points are on a deer easily 30 minutes before sunrise. In many other states that is legal shooting time and that guy obviously didn't properly identify his target no matter what the circumstances, he shouldn't have shot. It was reckless on his part plan and simple.
