  1. Found 1 sneaker darn near brand new. Behind our house in a real thick part of the woods. I guess it's more creepy than cool.
  2. Only a few days left, I will be mailing mine tomorrow certified mail. I read an article that a senator trying to push a bill that gives an extension, also read that you can also lose your voting privileges if you don't comply? Didn't hear that one before. I see Cuomo is really trying to screw anyone that holds a PP. Is it ironic that you would get your voting privileges revoked on his re-election year.
  3. You sure that's ash? What color was the sap wood?
  4. Yeah it's for adjusting the head space. You aren't supposed to adjust headspace by moving the barrel closer or away from the bolt using a nut. It is the same concept they use on the AR rifles. I'm not saying their design doesn't work, it does take the guess work and time out of a lot of the manufacturing. They have a system that works and a huge following. There are other things I don't like about the Savage mentioned earlier, but one thing I can't stand is their accu-trigger. My FIL loves them he says "its great because the gun surprises you when it goes off". I'll put money on that my Tikka will "surprise" anyone with the stock trigger pull. When you have heavy triggers that creep it won't do anything but make you a horrible shooter and you'll find yourself punching the trigger. If the trigger breaks clean you don't need an accu-trigger.
  5. The barrel nut is the poor mans way of doing head space, and not the best way to get the most amount of accuracy out of a gun. The barrel nut allows them to manufacture the gun cheaper by making 1 barrel to fit multiple actions. It's a great idea for what they use it for but you are going to get more accuracy out of gun that has a barrel fitted to that action. You can get barrel nuts and barrels for lots of other manufacturers, Tikka is a common one.
  6. I couldn't get the link to open, it sounded like they were lowering it across the board by 2 years.
  7. The minimum poundage draw for a bow is 35lbs. Middle school kids range from 11-13 they struggle in Gym class doing a pull up and a lot can barely pull the 30 lbs. bow they use in class as it is. They are lowering the age but with the bow poundage cut off it will not allow a lot of those kids at a lower age to bow hunt anyway. I have a few kids in class that could do it but many of them can't.
  8. That would be great long as the hunter can do it with a legally with the implement. Only thing I could see is the lbs. of draw required hindering it. Most middle schoolers can't even do a pull or chin up.
  9. But it's backwards and facing a way that the tire marks don't make sense, also on dry pavement and the said tire marks there are only 2....
  10. I'm not a fan of Savage but it all depends on what you're looking to spend. Lots of great rifles out there for just a couple hundred bucks more. I know the Thompson centers are great guns and not too long ago they were selling the compass for $180 at field and stream. For the money that rifle is hand over fist better than the axis. Ill add they guarantee it to 3 shot 1" MOA. Lightweight, durable and ergonomic composite stock Single-stage trigger adjusts between 3.5 lbs. and 5 lbs. Contours and textured grip panels for positive handling Three-lug bolt design with a 60° handle lift Free-floating barrel reduces the effects of a heated barrel Easy-to-clean 5R rifling decreases bullet deformation Detachable rotary box magazine fits flush with the stock
  11. That's all the time I have left to drop trees, collect firewood, put in food plots, practice shooting? Man I am behind!

    Diets

Wife makes a salad twice a week I eat it because my son is watching every move I make and if I don't like something he won't try it. I make comments under my breath the whole time while I'm choking it down. I feel like a damn farm animal getting their hay eating that stuff and half the time it has no taste and I slather it in the bad for you dressing.

    Diets

I guess I look at it from a physical fitness stand point. I know some guys that are considered overweight but could put a licking on a lot of guys half their age and at a "healthy" weight, physical exertion wise. Last time I was at my doctor he said I'm overweight, I looked at him and laughed. He looked puzzled then I asked him what my "healthy" weight was supposed to be, I haven't been that weight since middle school! I agree if all someone eats is fast food/junk or a lot of those prepared meals they definitely need a diet change to help with the weight loss. I think if someone gets enough regular exercise any non major health issues can be changed for the better. Some people are just big boned and can't change the genes.

    Diets

Holy hell between this thread, and the quiche thread what is happening? Something in the water lately? Only diet I have ever been on is the see-food diet. I see the food I eat it. Exercise is more important than a diet. I eat very few calories lots of red meat, 3 eggs a day for breakfast, bowl of oatmeal, sandwich for lunch with a greek yogurt and usually small bag of chips, dinner consist of a veggie, meat, and a carb (pasta, rice, or beans). My red meat intake is around 8 meals a week(dinner with leftovers for lunch). I will also say my red meat is only venison. Chicken usually about 2 times a week and pork 2 times a week. My kryptonite is ice cream, love me a good sized bowl after dinner. I'm 6' 185lbs. and probably in the best shape I have been in years, splitting cords on top of cords of firewood with an 8lbs. maul on top of hanging drywall and crawling around in the crawlspace running water lines and electric.
  15. This is the scary part: "Connecticut, Indiana, California and Washington have already passed similar bills." It is already making its way into law in other states.
  16. I was reading up on this at one point to maybe start at the school I work at. It is a very candid program, you can only use 1 type of bow for practice or competition that you buy through the organization. In NY there is one tournament and from what I could tell only 1 place to take the classes to get certified by NASP which is on long island. I think if they opened it up more and allowed bows that a kid would actually use in the field would make a little more sense. Not only that the tournaments are a very limited range. I was thinking it would be closer to 3D style of tournaments but it is not.
  17. If bass pro buys them they will own the market with the recent Cabelas purchase.
  18. This year was one for me, if you hunt for meat and are selective it is a very worrisome feeling not having any meat in the freezer late in the season.
  19. I was just thinking about that, I was driving to work and was looking at all the lawns along the way. Not a single one had tracks from people or kids playing in the snow. I thought wow what has society come to now that no one goes outside anymore. Hunting will be a thing of the past for those that allow their kids to play video games instead of actually getting them outside.
  20. I have 2 one is an older glenfield model 60 and the other one is newer with the bolt hold open. Both drive tacks and the glenfield has had 100s of thousands rounds through it with only a few hiccups. I think we would shoot a brick through that thing in a weekend. I replaced the buffer, recoil spring, feed ramp and worked the trigger a little on the glenfield completely different gun. Love the thing and should be great for my son when he comes of age.
  21. Or the ones that can't manage to stay on the trail like many snowmobilers. We used to have a trail that would cross our property and deny access now because they couldn't stay on trail and ruined a lot of money in crops along with the ATV's and trucks that have torn up our hayfields.
  22. I think if he proves he can handle the job and truly make America the country it once was he will win in a landslide.
  23. The new ones yes but the used surplus ones are still lower not as low as they used to be though.
  24. His is a Springfield, he has a Leupold optic up top.
  25. Yeah that's the one. I'm not talking about truth but speaking his mind. When was the last time a president said what he thought Bush senior comes to mind. I can't remember the exact quote otherwise I would post it.
