  1. I have to agree, I have only 1 person admit to changing their stance and was not because of the forum. Just beating a dead horse. @Jmny no offense but you bring up all the same points that have been brought up in the past umpteenth threads and the reasons most don't want the full inclusion. There is no point to this and the arguing just gets old. You and others refuse to accept the facts presented by those opposed and just deny and deflect.
  2. Did you really have to show us your muff?
  3. Yup same, i can see them feeding in the alfalfa field after dark, no idea where they are before that. Getting tons of nighttime photos on my cameras so I know they are around but haven't seen any during the day.
  4. Does the chart include bone in? I know some butchers that leave the bone in when cutting up the hind quarters. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. It's not about lanes behind the tree it's about the size of it. Majority of the trees I hunt from are mature 16" in diameter or bigger, the resting on the tree I can do using a crossbow. We have a treestand that we shoot out of at my parent's place. I can rest my elbow against the tree to steady my shot. I have tried numerous times with my compound and it always throws my shot off. I have no agenda, I'm looking at the facts the Crossbow is closer to a gun than a bow by the way it is used. The only argument is that it propels a broadhead using a string and has limbs. You can't say an arrow because it isn't one, otherwise it would be more similar to the air bow that you and others agreed is a firearm. If you wanted to make that argument then a bola, and sling could be considered bows and should be added to legal hunting implements.
  6. I can't agree with that, when I hunt with my compound I have to stand then draw. With a crossbow all I have to do is lift it and pull the trigger. No need to stand or draw. Same goes for when I'm using my rifle. If I'm shooting behind the tree I will stand with my rifle or a crossbow but with my bow I can't shoot behind the tree due to needing to hold it at full draw. Both the crossbow and rifle can be rested against the tree or even a shooting rail to steady the shot unlike my compound. There are a number of advantages the crossbow has over the compound that are the same advantages as a firearm.
  7. I think the field and stream ones are 4'. I know 5 sections make 20'
  8. You forgot massively less movement when readying for a shot.
  9. These are mine. Great binos for the price. mine are 8x42 ,10x42 would be about as strong as I would go for hunting in NY I'm glassing maybe 200 yards at a time and that is the furthest. https://www.opticsplanet.com/alpen-pro-waterproof-8x42-roof-binoculars-380.html
  10. This afternoon and tomorrow morning is going to be a good time to be in your stands. This coming week will be the best time to be out in the woods at least in my area. I have seen 1 real nice buck sticking around a doe not letting her get more than a few steps away.
  11. Nice buck, I would say around 110" I'm usually on the low end. I have shot a couple like that wider but shorter tined around 115" but the one was also a 7 point.
  12. Just the opposite with me and my dad, He gets pissed because I get 3 wall mounters to his 1. He is glad someone in the family gets the big guy walking around but a little bitter sweet either way.
  13. Opps guess I should have looked at the section. Sorry OP but I think what I added is viable bow or crossbow.
  14. No doubt both lungs guarantees a dead deer within 100 yards and a heart shot within eyesight usually. At least in my experience. Yeah I have hit the artery down the spine on botched shots, definitely lucky. I did hit the artery along with liver and 1 lung when i shot a hard quartering away downhill shot, drove the arrow from in front of the hind quarters hip all the way to opposite side front arm pit. I wasn't intentionally shooting for the artery just in the way to the vitals.
  15. Ok gotcha. I always thought why not hit 1 lung and the heart. I have to say that all of the straight down shots were heart shots with 1 lung and basically power painter like blood trails. I only hit one in the spine and it was a straight facing towards shot. I shot through the artery and hit the spine. The buck dropped and bled out right where I shot him.
  16. yup, I used to have this for snowmobiling. https://www.rei.com/product/435490/smith-no-fog-cloth
  17. I have shot deer right under me from 20' up what's wrong with a straight down shot or close to it? I'm not sure how many I have shot like this but I think more than broadside. LIke mentioned when that arrow exits the bottom of the chest cavity there is instant blood to where they die. I'm not calling you out to argue but I always thought it was a great shot vs a deer 20 yards away and putting an arrow halfway up the cavity.
  18. My "buddy" just takes the bottom section of ladder. Either filming set or taking someone with them. I always like the guys that setup on my property then bring a kid, showing the kid trespassing is okay. Totally f-ed up poor kid needs a real role model.
  19. Intellicast is pretty good too. Usually I take 3 or 4 reports and whichever are the same are what I go with. Doesn't always work and have had the one that was different be the right one but the odds of that happening are slim. If you are looking for wind reports I really like the FishWeather app for android. It has realtime weather station data from all over. It is true real time changing by how fast you refresh the data. I use it religously while fishing and can setup alerts for wind speeds. They also have it for apple users. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.windalert.android.fishweather&hl=en https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fishweather/id555644333?mt=8
  20. Father in law did this works great until they get used to the perfume, hanging silver reflective ribbon works pretty good at a deer deterrent.
  21. It depends on cover, I have hunted some that are only 8' up to 30'. If on a hill I'm usually higher to keep from getting busted by deer coming down the hill.
  22. If your bow is properly tuned no issue with them flying true. Mechanical failure is very low with the heads nowadays. With the Rage heads I have noticed that even if the blades did not deploy they would still cut a 7/8" hole with the way the blades are designed. Made the switch this year to the Rage from my fixed 1" cutting dia. heads. The rage seem to have a little more air noise when flying but nothing a deer will notice. I have never been a mechanical fan after shooting front opening blades and having them deflect clean off the deer. I bought the Chinadermics and have shot them at 3 different angles into 1/4" luan the only time I had deflection was when I was almost shooting parallel to the board. After all of that I shot my field tips into my target then the rage and both had same amount of penetration with one of the Rage arrows going slightly further (3/4"). My fixed would get about 4" more penetration than my field tips so take it for what it's worth. In my opinion the size of the hole the Rage leave outweigh the 4" of penetration. Below is my setup. Bowtech Tribute 398gr. arrow (including BH) 62lbs. draw weight.
  23. That is the one of biggest complaints I have heard from companies/industries. Making close to 100k/year and they flush their career down the drain by no shows. The other one is passing a drug test. In my area there is a lot of drugs on the street. I could be making a whole lot more money in construction than education but I enjoy what I do even if I have to deal with 150 young teens and their hormonal attitudes. Summers off isn't bad, if you're handy like me look into technology education. Basically a shop teacher, if you go to Oswego you could spend an extra year and get yourself a tech management degree. My buddy did tech management and does what Culver did as the project manager for a large firm in Syracuse. He makes bank but works a lot of hours unpaid (salary) I think he is making as much as myself and my wife combined (both of us are school teachers) but he has to put in the hours and the travel sucks.
