Good luck!

Laid there for at least 10 minutes and never moved. I didn't see the picture yet because the crappy cell service still had it downloading on my phone. She has had some iffy shots in the past that required follow up shots, so I remember actually telling her to put another in it if she can see vitals. She didn't want to take the shot from that angle so she came down the ladder to walk closer for a finisher if needed. When she came out of the hedgerow, the deer was gone, and she just got a glimpse of it slipping through the woods. No shot opportunity at that time though. You should have seen the expression on her face when she was telling me about it! Horror and sadness mixed in! To her credit, she has never lost a deer. I think that was deer number 7 for her, and all bucks, never shot a doe.

Payin it forward at Dunkin - WTF?
Steuben Jerry replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in General Chit Chat
I've heard of this so that's why I asked about what they ordered! -
So I run over to the local Dunkin at lunch to buy a coffee. Girl at the window tells me the car ahead of me paid for mine. (this happened to me once before at a different Dunkin, but there was nobody behind me to return the favor to). So to pay it forward, I ask what did the car behind me order? She says same exact order as mine, so I pay for the car behind me. When I get back to work, I look at the receipt before tossing it in the trash, and I see that I got double charged! So, technically I didn't get a free coffee, and paid twice for one coffee? WTF? Oh well, good karma points for the slob buck I am shooting tomorrow afternoon.

Similar story with a better ending, our daughter's buck from last year; We were both out, half a mile from each other. I hear her shoot and a minute or two later, she's on the radio with a "dead right there" report. I figured I'd still hunt my way to her to help, and 10 minutes later she's on the radio saying it got up and walked away. Couldn't get a shot off before it was in those woods. Her hubby gets there an hour later, and they both go off on a tracking mission. They saw it standing in the creek bottom a quarter mile away. She was able to drop it, and they had a multi-hour recovery and drag back to where I could get the tractor to it. She originally one-lunged it.

The comments after that article are disgusting.

Not necessarily a fan of their other stuff, but I love that song and particularly her voice.

Wow, that’s like losing a whole person!

Awesome! That kind of weight loss takes some serious dedication!

You'll put your eye out with that thing. Serious questions follow; Is that considered 80% finished? FFL needed or wink, wink? -
Holy crap. https://www.foxnews.com/great-outdoors/arkansas-deer-hunter-attack-dead I don't know about waiting 30 mins like the end of the article says, but I am a firm believer in touching them in the eye before any field dressing activities commence.

Tree saddles, lighted nocks and Blackhorn 209
Steuben Jerry replied to stubborn1VT's topic in Deer Hunting
Yes, tornado f4. I love it too. I’ve got about 20 bolts, an extra pack of red hot broad heads and 2 packs of lighted nocks, and a pack of capture nocks. I treat em like gold, lol. I haven’t really searched but somebody must be supporting them aftermarket-wise. -

In Albany tonight for work. Watching game 1 and starting with a HopStorm.

Happy Birthday!

Certainly not offended in the least Todd. You have good points, especially the road contamination point. The hiding of deer is a result of non-hunters or anti-hunters successfully erasing the visual evidence of hunting. I don't wanting hunting to be something that has to be hidden. I feel dirty hiding the spoils of a successful hunt.

In-season bucks at the zip-tie scrape

True studs right there!! -
Concerns me. Does not concern me. Had to be a little salty. But in all seriousness hiding dead deer during deer season in a rural area is part of the problem. When everyone hides their deer, it makes the occasional dead deer seem abnormal. It shouldn't be abnormal - it's a dead deer during deer season. That said, I may keep a deer wrapped up if I was traveling down main street in Buffalo, Syracuse, etc. Or maybe not..
