  1. Oh man, I thought this screen name morphing was coming to an end. Now I have to edit my screen name cross reference chart. And I already laminated it too..
  2. Of course I'd shoot them - if I could stop shaking enough to hold steady for a second. Great deer!
  3. Looks like a cozy spot Paula!
  4. He's the opposite of this guy I took a few years ago. He had no balls. Weren't "undescended", just never had them. DEC happened to be doing a check at the processor when I brought him and I pointed it out to the biologist. He didn't think much of it. Had him on camera but laid first eyes on him 20 mins before this pic.
  5. Steuben County Fair starts up this week. Wife and I try to stop by every year at least for a beer and some fair food and to check out a few exhibits. They have the pig races that you can bet on, but I don't think the payout compares to your winnings!!
  6. Yup, Sullivan County. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/outdoors/2018/01/you_can_legally_feed_deer_during_the_winter_in_only_one_upstate_new_york_county.html I would be for feeding deer after hunting season. The DEC is trying to get numbers up in our area and have cited some bad winter mortality a couple of years in a row in '16-'17 I think. We find a few skeletons every Spring, no idea if those are from a food issue or coyotes though. Just seems counter productive to say "winter mortality" and feeding ban. We do the hinge cuts where we can, but that doesn't seem to generate that much nutrition.
  7. You've got some damn nice deer walking around there!
  8. My Mother died in her early 90's but had been battling dementia since 85 or so. My Dad dropped dead of a heart attack at 57 and lived longer than most of his siblings. I'm pretty sure I take after my Mom's side. I've reached 60, would like to make it to my 80's as long as I have a sound mind.
  9. I'm not one for over-regulation and government overreach at all, but.. I grew up knowing I needed to pass a written test and driving test to drive a car, and I did the same thing again when I went for my motorcycle license when I was around 20. That all seemed legitimate. I can remember buying my first boat in my early 20's and being surprised that there was no requirement or proficiency test needed to operate a boat. I was lucky to know experienced boaters that taught me a few things and got me going in the beginning. I voluntarily took the USCG safety course a few years later (I think the motivation at the time was an insurance rate discount) and picked up quite a few pieces of knowledge. I was glad I took it. Jet skis were new and rare when I started boating. Now they're plentiful and pretty inexpensive for an entry into watercraft. I have no problem taking the course - hope they go forward with the online version, and I'll target a rainy day to get through it.
  10. What a stud! I'll guess 3 yrs, 3 mos, and 6 days..
  11. Congratulations to you and your wife Biz! That’s great!
  12. Boat is in the shop but still got on the water this afternoon. Perfect day for a lazy afternoon paddle. Cohocton River, Bath to Campbell.
  13. I just looked in the cabinet. Sighted it in with Remmy Core Lokt 140 gr, also shot Fusion 140's, and American Whitetail 139's. She's shot all her deer with the Whitetails. If I remember, the gun shot them all pretty tight. I think we just had more of the Whitetails. I just shot hers two weeks ago. Took a fouling shot at a steel target and then one shot at paper at 200. It was an inch high and an inch right I think. Hers isn't a Savage, its a Ruger American.
  14. Sweet gun TF! I'm a big Savage fan and have had nothing but good results with them. My wife has been shooting a 7mm 08 for a few years now. She's taken 4 so far with it IIRC. They've all only taken a step or two. I think you're going to like it!
