  1. Thanks! Niether my wife or I ever owned a cat before. Someone dropped one off one evening that we found in our chicken coop the next day. We couldn't find any takers so we let it live in the coop for a bit. Turned out she was pregnant. Only one kitten lived. We took Momma cat and her kitten to the vet and got them spayed and all up to code (shots, etc). Momma cat passed away a few months later. No marks, just found her dead with no apparent explanation. So 4 years later the kitten still lives in the coop in her own clean and heated "apartment". She's the defacto rooster and herds the birds around when we let them out. She doesn't seem to kill much except mice. She'll lay by the bird feeder for hours and never goes after one that I've seen. Very affectionate too. Comes in the house to visit, but wants no part of staying inside. And that's fine by me. She also seems to get along with whitetails. Now if only I could make use of this info from her somehow..
  2. Good old Andy doesn't care about losing revenue, he can just raise the taxes on NY state residents again and again and again.
  3. When I was a kid, we wrapped them in newspaper. My buddy's dad used to refer to the newspaper as "the fish wrap". Wait, who still gets a newspaper?
  4. Our daughter bought us one for Christmas. We've made a pork roast, fish, chicken breasts. Pork chops tonight. I was skeptical at first, but it's surprising how moist the food is. I wouldn't have thought you'd get that by cooking with hot air. Pretty quick too.
  5. Gun owners themselves could have voted out Cuomo the last time around which was on the heels of the safe act, but didn't. I'd bet my house that if AR's were made illegal in NY (with threat of felony arrest if possessed), 90% would turn them in. And the public in general would view the other 10% as extremists that deserve to be arrested and charged. Maybe not immediately in lock-step, but give it a few years after such an event.
  6. I think I posted these before, but here's a fisher that had designs on our chickens. Our smaller barn cat got into it with him, and didn't suffer a scratch. The fisher looked to be a juvenile, so I'm not sure the cat would have the same luck with a savvy adult. But we do still have the same chickens, and it (or anything else) hasn't torn the coop up.
  7. We're seeing them more and more over the last few years. Up until 5-ish years ago, I'd only observed one in my life and had never gotten one in front of a trail camera. Now, it's still cool when we see them, but I no longer consider it rare. I'm running 10 cams, and I usually have a fisher on one cam or another on almost every card pull.
  8. Andrew Cuomo = "confiscation could be an option". Some anti-gun politicians aren't afraid to go on the record saying it. But we shouldn't believe it?
  9. And here I thought it was because of a crazy person, and it turns out that it was because of an inanimate object. Well, that makes it simple, just ban those inanimate objects and poof - no more school shootings. And if they choose another inanimate object, just ban those too. Eventually after enough inanimate objects are all banned, this will be totally solved. Whew, that's a lot easier than figuring out what to do about people who have mental health issues! After all, we don't "need" guns...
  10. I do agree with you, but in this case they actually had a cop stationed at the school and he apparently chickened out.
  11. Well, this is a disturbing development. I'm all for armed security to protect students, but this needs to be fixed! This guy was actually stationed at the school! https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/23/us/florida-school-shooting/index.html
  12. LOL, You guys are like sputtering high school kids!
  13. After seeing a few of your posts on your sous vide, I bought a Gourmia last week. I made a thick steak so far, that I cooked a bit too long but still was good. What's a can't miss suggestion for what to try next?
  14. Rocky ground? A lot of the root systems in my immediate area are pretty shallow, but I would think you'd still need some kind of equipment. Any chance you can hire a smaller dozer? That's probably only a couple of hours work.
  15. $10 says that barrel was damaged anyways, and he already has a new upper for it.
  16. That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Pulling stumps is hard. Tannerite makes it fun!
