  1. Coincidental to the thread.. Pennsylvania approves 2-week deer hunting season, bans rifles from turkey hunts | Fox News
  2. This is the annual den that's less than 50 yards from our bedroom window. Kits emerged last Thursday night/Friday morning. Most years Momma relocates them after they are mobile enough. Last year her litter hung around til August which was a pain. We have a little dog, an outdoor cat, and a chicken coop 75 yards from the den site. One night in August, there was a commotion and when I flipped on the lights four of them had our cat surrounded. I'll give them a week or so to relocate before I urge them along. For my urging, I drop a towel soaked with ammonia near one of the den entrances, and a transistor radio in a plastic bag with fresh batteries and on half-volume goes in the hole. They don't like any of that.
  3. That must hurt! You should back your eyeball off the glass into the eye-relief zone.
  4. Had the dog out this morning just as it was getting light. A close-by owl started hooting and a roosted gobbler lit up within 100 yards. Of course the dog barked at it and all quiet after that.
  5. Most definitely! I think we just missed each other a couple of years ago at hitching post meats.
  6. Oh man, that looks delicious. That’s right up my alley!
  7. And you want to deny things to people based on your feelings. Admit it, you're a commie.
  8. Freaking outrageous! I heard a state assemblyman from downstate somewhere being interviewed about this on the way to work this morning (I'll let you guess which party they belong to). He actually said it's a shame that it's difficult for many of them because a lot of them work under the table - AND PAY NO TAXES - and as such, those folks will have a hard time collecting the money as they can't prove that they were laid off of a job. He said that tax paying NY'ers should be more compassionate and should go further to help them by eliminating the need to prove that they were once employed and JUST GIVE THEM THE CASH. The host was trying to goad the guy along and the assemblyman had no shame about it whatsoever. When asked what the taxpayers get in the new budget, he kind of shamed the taxpayers as being fortunate for being able to pay taxes. The host also stated his belief that most of that money would be sent as remittance to the illegal's families back home and that very little of it would go to help the local economy. The assemblyman said we don't stipulate what can be done with relief money to citizens so we shouldn't care what the illegals do with it even if 100% of the money is going out of the country. This freaking state!
  9. Signed, and I sent the link to my wife also.
  10. Hey Burt, do you have to live in Howard to sign the petition? I don't live in Howard, but I'm close enough that in the distance, I can see the existing windmills from the end of my road.
  11. That's not the same at all. A "compound bow competition" would be for compound bows. We don't have a "compound season".
  12. I have no feelings or thought patterns on inferiority or superiority for people who like bows or xbows so I honestly can't offer anything on that. I just don't believe that the "feelings" of a subset of people should prevent me from obtaining a privilege that hurts no one else. I hunt 99.9% on my own property and follow the rules. I am on my property hunting with a bow as much as work time allows me to be. And then I switch to xbow for the last two weeks. I have no problems following the rules. And my tactics and style of hunting is no different whether I'm using a compound bow or an xbow (truth be told, I hate lugging the damn thing around instead of my compound, and I probably would still hunt with my compound more even if xbow got full inclusion). However, it galls me that I am prevented from enjoying my choice of equipment on my own property on my own time because some folks decide I'm not a "real archer" or I'm "inferior". It reminds me of high school BS. "you're not tough, or you suck because you drive a Ford", or some other such childish nonsense. It also strikes me as an absurdly liberal (far left) tactic no different than anti gunners saying I don't need an AR. Or the childish notion that if I "need" a black rifle I must be making up for some other shortcoming. I see no difference at all in the mindset, just the subject matter at hand. I'm not even trying to have an xbow vs. bow debate - to me, I see this as one group of people wanting to control the limitations of others. It is what it is, I guess.
  13. Good luck and congratulations on going for a career that makes you happy. That takes some courage!
  14. So because you personally don’t approve of, or believe in a particular thing, those that do are inferior and should be prevented from doing what they want? Got it, you’re Andrew Cuomo.
  15. What if someone simply wants to use a crossbow in early October? That doesn't meet your particular standards for those people?
  16. I was offline most of the weekend - Easter stuff with family - what did I miss on this subject?
  17. It doesn't affect my hunting plans, but it certainly affects my recreational shooting which I have pretty much ceased. I wanted to swap a few scopes between rifles, and I haven't done that yet either. I have a decent supply, but I want to keep it that way. Reloading will definitely be in my near future.
