  1. +1 on the afternoon nap. Feels like a new day afterward.
  2. Well, this is starting to look a little better.
  3. Do you set them up so they don't swivel? I could do that with a couple of sticks.
  4. Following this thread - glad you posted it. I bought some Avian-X dekes over the last year, and besides just sticking them in the ground, I have zero technique. Mine won't stay facing any particular direction though unless I rig something up, they swivel with the wind.
  5. You set the bar high! First Jake I see is going to get shot in the face.
  6. That's a great story! And a great video too. Congratulations Evan!
  7. Along that line, I found this collection of Turkey chokes on ebay. I only need one, do you think 'ol Stormy would be interested?
  8. The internet outlook isn't as bad as my local channel was reporting this morning.
  9. I have Friday scheduled too, and was tipping back and forth on still taking it based on this morning's weather report. Then I saw birds in a few fields on the way to work. With the exception of a snow day in January, I haven't taken vac day since deer season. That six weeks in my vacation balance isn't going to use itself! I set three blinds last weekend. I might get wet on the way in, but I can stay very dry all morning.
  10. No, but did snap a pic of that orange trumpy one, lol.
  11. With the nonstop rain yesterday we went out for a drive to a local spot that we’ve known about for a year, but hadn’t gotten around to checking out yet. Mud Creek Bison Ranch is about 5 miles from our house in the village of Savona. Cool place, they have a road that winds around the farm and you can drive through for free (donations are encouraged) and check out the Bison - being a Bills fan, I’d rather call them Buffalo. At the end of the drive you can purchase meats. We bought a pack of Mesquite snack sticks and a pound of ground for lunch burgers. Good stuff!
  12. Got the first lawn mowing in for the year, put a new battery in the boat, and got a few blinds set today. And still left time to wind down this evening.
  13. Unless it's quick, I don't have time for that. I wrestled with the idea of jumping out for a week before I did. Had to make a decision to protect against continuing losses vs. missing a rebound. I think I saved myself 8-ish percent, but I plan to put some back into higher risk funds at some point. I was down 15% but got some of that back by timing after a couple of good days when the dow was swinging by 1500 points per day. I'm certainly not betting against America, but I'm not betting my retirement on anything at this point.
  14. That flag pole has seen some windy days!
  15. I checked mine last weekend, I'm down 9.8%. All in the 2% fixed return fund for now.
  16. I went safe after some moderate losses - should have jumped out earlier. I haven't had the stomach to take any off of the sidelines. Watching and waiting for an opportunity to put half back in something that gains me more than 2%. But I need to see some steadiness first. Got a friend back in Rochester who told me to ride it out and I shouldn't have jumped out. He was down $150k on a $500k 401k (haven't talked to him in a couple of weeks). I don't have the intestinal fortitude to just let that kind of loss ride. He's 62, and I'm 61.
