State DEC and Parks Announce New York State First-Time Camper Program The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) today announced that New York State will provide free First-Time Camper weekends throughout the summer in 2017. Families that have never camped before will have the opportunity to see if they enjoy sleeping under the stars before investing in their own gear by registering for a fully stocked campsite at select state campgrounds one weekend from July 7 through August 25, 2017. The new campers will be provided with a family tent, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camp chairs, lantern, and even firewood. A Camping Ambassador will meet families at the campsite and help them get camp set up with a camping 101 lesson. Bathrooms and hot showers are a short walk from the campsites. To make the weekend getaway even more enjoyable, campers will have an opportunity to learn from experts how to fish, hike, bird watch, paddle and more, all while having fun and making memories that last forever. Campgrounds are available throughout the state to give all New Yorkers an opportunity to participate. Black Friday is for deer hunting or if the tags are filled drinking and taking the rest of the meat off the turkey and disposing of the carcass.
-
WHAT THE HELL IS SUN????
-
That my friend is the American way of the retail business. Happens every year right around Black Friday and it sucks them in like sardines..

With the second week of the season approaching you may want to consider this. A little pricey but by the time you learn anything on your own the season will be over. http://www.biggamehuntingny.com/turkey_hunting.htm Besides..... it will give you a good idea if you like it or not.

Worst part of it for me is getting the wife off the roof when she sees one plus I really hate getting surprised the way a snake surprises you.
-
I am not a fan of ANY snake period and any found usually end up in the compost pile. Never dealt with a rattlesnake and hope I never do!!

"License for What?" - Westchester County On April 8, ECOs Wes Leubner and Tony Drahms were checking fishermen in Croton-on-Hudson when they came upon four men leaving a popular fishing hole with rods and bags in hand. The officers stopped to ask the men if they had their fishing licenses. One man responded, "License for what?" The men admitted that they had been fishing and were not aware that a license is required. When the officers asked if they had caught any fish, the men said they had not. However, one man's bag started to flop around, indicating that they had at least one fish in their possession. After a quick search, the officers seized 11 striped bass. In addition to fishing without licenses and possessing well over the daily limit of one fish per person, none of the Striped Bass were the required minimum length of 18 inches. All four men received tickets for Fishing without a Marine Registry, Possessing over-the-limit Striped Bass, and Possessing Undersize Striped Bass. The tickets are returnable to Croton-on-Hudson Village Court. Eleven illegal fish all measured less than 18 inches.

Steuben County Town of Rathbone Prescribed Fire: On April 10, Forest Rangers and other DEC staff treated 45 acres of grass fuels with prescribed fire at the Helmer Creek Wildlife Management Area. The Helmer Creek burn unit is identified for habitat improvement because of the presence of timber rattlesnakes in the area. Little Bluestem, a native warm season grass, grows on this site and is needed for management objectives. The re-introduction of consistent burning will help invigorate these native grasses and slow the spread of invasive species. Early season timing of this prescribed fire must occur before the emergence of rattlesnakes later this spring.

Every year I say I am going to and deer season gets in the way. I am committed to this year and will definitely cut down on the deer hunting in an attempt to reduce the coyotes. Traps are ready...just waiting for me.

United States History Poll
Steve D replied to EspressoBuzz's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Survey taken...as long as they don't get sucked into others way of thinking and doing it is a great tool to be used for "future" planning and strategies. -
If you are shooting 6-10 arrows a day you should be shooting that good without a "gadget" PS Watch out for broken knocks ripped fletching etc. shooting like that. Try three circles instead of one and shoot at one at a time. When you can hit all three circles each time with one arrow then you are dialed in

From Monroe County: Adding a Firearm from a Deceased Individual - In order to add a firearm from a deceased individual, you will need a custody report from a police agency, a Letter of Testamentary from Surrogate's Court that shows the appointment of an Executor or Administrator of the estate (contact Surrogates Court for proper paperwork at 585-371-3310), a notarized statement from the Executor or Administrator of the estate granting permission to the person wishing to add the firearm, and a copy of the death certificate. We also ask that you provide the decedent's pistol permit if available. For your convenience, please use the following form which serves as the notarized statement from the Executor/Administrator of the Estate when wanting to add a firearm from a deceased person. **Please note that your Brady Check must be current prior to the addition of any firearm from an individual. This check must be completed once every 5 years and there is no cost to the permit holder. Please complete the Brady Check form and return it to our office for processing; you may not submit the form directly to law enforcement. You will receive the completed Brady check in the mail for your own personal records. Once you receive this paperwork, you will be allowed to add firearms from an individual. From Genesee County: Death of a Permit Holder New York State Law requires that upon a permit holder’s death, the decedent’s estate must, within 15 days, turn over the decedent’s firearm(s) to another pistol permit holder; a licensed dealer; or the local police department. The estate is also requested to notify the Genesee County Pistol Permit clerk of the permit holder’s passing, please complete the Estate Bill of Sale, this will include information about the disposition of the firearm(s), along with a copy of the death certificate so that the license may be cancelled. END OF QUOTE Since you do not have a permit and it will take you 6 months to a year to get one I would secure the ownership to someone you will be able to get them from later. What ever address ends up on your pistol permit is where the guns will expected to be. If something should happen and they were not in your possession at the time it could be pretty nasty. If you wish to keep them someplace other than your residence you would be better off "co-owning" with someone else and that can be a royal pain also. Wherever they go you may want to make copies of his permit and keep them with each gun until things get finalized. Good luck! -
That would great to see when it is finished!!
