  1. Good luck finding "flat" ground in these areas. If you do you will be paying thru the nose. There are places out there if you do the research. Found this one without to much trouble: Good Luck http://nylandquest.com/property/lq27501/

  3. This can be used as a "guide". It all boils down to how much someone is willing to pay: But at least it is free to search and do it from home. http://www.gunbroker.com/All/BI.aspx?Keywords=ithaca+37+16
  4. I use one of these and like it a lot:
  5. Haven't been out because of the wind but I'd be willing to bet there are a lot of woods in rough shape. Still 14 degrees here with a 2 degree windchill Pity anyone still without power. Latest numbers are 37,407 out in Monroe County
  6. If you like em hot it is very hard to beat this one!!
  7. Hope everybody gets up and running soon!!! http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/noreaster-may-bury-mid-atlantic-new-england-with-heavy-snow-next-week/70001075
  8. I think mother nature is taking care of the pruning today Any tree standing today should be a healthy tree. Definitely something to keep an eye on with oaks being as important as they are especially to wildlife A major loss would be devastating .pdf link will show how we are doing so far: oak.pdf
  9. Looks like a decent piece on Google earth. One thing I can say is you need to be prepared!!! Friend of mine and I camped in Barnes Corners about 25 miles north grouse hunting in October one year. Went to bed and it was like 38 degrees. Woke up the next morning and there was three feet off snow on the ground. Didn't have a clue it was coming and it wasn't in the forecast. $ 400 an acre is a good price anywhere providing it is huntable and you are prepared to deal with the elements. Check out this link: http://www.syracuse.com/weather/index.ssf/2017/02/meanwhile_in_redfield_ny_it_snowed_6_feet_since_wednesday.html it isn't like hunting the southern tier.
  10. This terrific sign is from the New York State Conservation Department. We believe it dates from the 1950s-1960s, during the later years of that agency's existence between 1926 and 1963. Signs like this were ordered for posting along roadsides and trails in the woods, warning passersby that state law protected wildlife in the area, and hunting, fishing and trapping were prohibited. The maker name SCIOTO SIGNS, KENTON, O.[hio] name appears at the very bottom Worth $75.00 ??? https://www.rubylane.com/item/27950-6637/Vintage-1950s-60s-Wildlife-Management-NO
  11. Pretty nice area to hunt that does get a TON OF SNOW. If you like the area why buy when there is in excess of 12,000 acres of public land very close by unless it comes with a house or camp.
  12. Take your pick https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=tractor+and+tiller+rental+southern+WNY
  13. Never owned a pentax scope. What I have found with the few scopes I have had to return is 9 out of 10 times they send you a new scope. Sometimes they don't return the same scope you had but send what they call a "equivalent" especially if they don't manufacture the kind you have any more. I started putting a mark on the scope so I would know whether I got the same one back or not. Hope it works out for you either way.

  16. Not saying I would want to but it can be done. Maine does it for most game. http://www.maine.gov/ifw/hunting_trapping/hunting/laws/tagging_transportation_registration.htm#registration Registration Requirements A person who kills a bear, deer, moose, or wild turkey must: Remain with the animal until it is registered, exceptions found in Time Limits for Registering section. Present that animal for registration in that person’s name at the first open registration station for that animal on the route taken by that person; and Leave the registration seal attached to the animal until the animal is processed and packaged for consumption. Pay a fee of $5.00 for registration of a bear, deer or moose (of this fee, $2.00 is retained by the agent and $1.00 is dedicated to a Deer Habitat Enhancement Fund.) The wild turkey registration fee is $2.00. List of Registration Stations (PDF) (bear, deer, and wild turkey) List of Moose Registration Stations (PDF) Time Limits for Registration A person may not keep an unregistered bear, deer, moose or wild turkey at home or any place of storage for more than 18 hours. A person may leave an unregistered harvested animal in the woods if that person notifies a game warden within 18 hours as to the location of that animal and the circumstances necessitating leaving that animal in the woods. A person on a hunting trip in an unorganized township and staying at a temporary place of lodging may keep an unregistered harvested animal at the temporary place of lodging for no more than 7 days or until that person leaves the woods, whichever comes first. 18. I will shoot crows when possible like off the back deck but I am not going to pursue them. For the rest of the month I will hunt coyotes under the best conditions. Hides are getting "springy", females are getting or have been bred, and they aren't bringing a lot of money. Don't get me wrong....if I see a mangy or sick one they will go down if I can get to a gun but most of the ones here a pretty healthy. I like to hunt them when they are at their prime to do me and the animal justice. Don't get me wrong I don't just hunt them for the money part of it but if I am going to shoot it a decent price is a bonus.
  19. My point being....more bigger bucks would be getting hit on the road since they were able to grow bigger due to antler restrictions on hunting. As far as filling others tags...who cares. If someone is issued a tag and they pass it on to another hunter I could care less. Not tagging/reporting or poaching are other issues that aren't going away with antler restrictions. As far as spotlighting it is legal and has no effect on the deer herd unless someone is shooting (poaching) with a spot light which as we all know is illegal. How is a bill like this going to protect "yearling" does along with yearling bucks?? Doesn't sound like it is well thought through and we are over analyzing what may or may not happen as far a future regulations.
  20. Ones that are willing to work and may not have the skills, education, or experience, but can be trained to perform the desired work. Happens like that in most union trades. Start at the bottom, learn the trade, and go through the apprenticeship, working your way through the ranks. That's the problem today......no one wants to start at the bottom.
