I sent a pair of binocs in a year or so ago and they repaired them at no charge and with a quick turn around. As I recall I e-mailed them and they sent me a authorization number. No questions asked https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/44879-hats-off-to-nikon/?tab=comments#comment-665101

Fishing Help protect heat-stressed trout and salmon during summer months. During the hot days of summer, it is important to remember that trout and salmon experience serious physical stress whenever water temperatures climb above 70° Fahrenheit. Anglers can help protect New York's trout population by taking the following precautions: Avoid catch and release fishing for heat-stressed trout. Trout already weakened by heat stress are at risk of death no matter how carefully they are handled. Don't disturb trout where they have gathered in unusually high numbers. It is likely these fish are recovering from heat stress in a pocket of cold water. Fish early. Stream temperatures are at their coolest in the early morning. Be prepared with a backup plan. Have an alternate fishing plan ready in case water temperatures are too high at the intended destination. Consider fishing a water body that is less prone to heat stress or fishing for a more heat-tolerant species like smallmouth bass.

A recent man's account of his covid experience: I Today is my 8th day of having the dreaded Covid-19. I can tell you that it is not like the flu and it is nothing like the common cold. If you are over 60 and are either obese, have diabetes, heart disease, COPD, or any other health issues and you contract this you will probably be taking a dirt nap. I was skeptical until I saw how many people were infected and how fast this spread. I am 51 and am in perfect health and this knocked me on my @ss. I have mild symptoms so I could only imagine how bad severe symptoms would be. I was planning on going to fenner until I came down with a splitting headache on the Thursday prior. I decided to go get tested on Friday and Quarantine myself. If I did not have symptoms I would have been at fenner and I am sure it would have easily spread there. There will most likely be another wave around the holidays do to all the traveling. Most of you older guys with issues should most likely hide in your bunkers till this passes.

On Wednesday 22-year-old black male Joshua Hayes traveled a few miles outside Indianapolis to Brownsburg, a neighboring community. Joshua Hayes stopped his car, got out and started shooting at the first people he saw – two white males working at a cemetery.

I have had the displeasure of taking that journey with loved ones also and while you are correct about little attention by the masses it isn't pleasant. That seems to be a major shortcoming of Americans today. No one truly cares about anyone else outside of their inner circle(s) but will jump on the band wagon for lost causes like BLM, Friends of animal, PETA, etc. Compassion for others seems to be in short supply these days.

I usually buy from F&T and have been pleased with them but at the price of the 550's I will shopping around for sure. With the current conditions who knows if there will even be a fur market this year. I am just looking to thin out the population around here and to have a good time.
-
I agree with you 100% but as much as everyone puts the emphasis on the low percentage of deaths, the age and health conditions, of those that do pass as a way to measure the severity is crazy. Covid sounds like a terrible way to die and even if one does not die; some of the stories of suffering are terrible. We all have to go sometime but laying in a hospital hooked up to a ventilator fighting for every breath is not something I would look forward to and doubt many would. I am not going to live in a cave but will take as many precautions as possible simply because I don't want to suffer to that extent and would not want others to either. Regardless of all the numbers being thrown around this stuff is for real and is here to stay for quite some time.
-
It will be fun if you take it as a learning experience. Where did you order the 550's from? I am going to get a 1/2 dozen and was hoping to pick some up at a trappers event this year but it looks like they are all getting cancelled. I need something beefier to hold some of the big ones I have on trail cams from last winter. I doubt my #2's or 1 3/4" will hold the bigger ones I have pictures of.

Troy NY Near Albany 7-2-2020
Steve D replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
If you watch the second link which is a longer version you will see the police were there. I doesn't look like they were involved very much or took any action. I think these days unless it is a life or death situation they are hesitant to get involved. -

June 27-28 is Free Fishing Weekend in New York State New York has a Free Fishing Weekend coming up June 27 – 28. The event is the second of six free fishing days offered in New York State every year. New York residents and non-residents are permitted to fish for free without a fishing license. Although DEC is waiving the requirement for a fishing license during free fishing days, all other fishing regulations remain in effect. DEC encourages all anglers, new and experienced, to recreate locally and seek out fishing opportunities close to home. DEC’s Places to Fish webpages are a reliable source for those ready to plan their next fishing trip. For beginning anglers interested in getting started, the I FISH NY Beginners' Guide to Freshwater Fishing provides information on everything from rigging up a fishing rod, to identifying your catch, and understanding fishing regulations.

No bait required if you know where the hole is. Catch & kill if it is coming or going. More than likely a trap setter will be needed: #160 Body Trap

Fantastic video with wonderful outdoor scenery

# 35 showed up later today...that's a wrap for turning them loose
-
Nice pics! One was reported seen in W. Bloomfield this past week and a picture was posted. Pretty unusual for this neck of the woods.

# 34 this morning.....enough is enough....after 35 I start drowning
-
Didn't bother with a picture but got # 33 today. I wasn't in a killing mood so I took the walk and set it free.

I have been taking them approx. 350 yard from the house and turning them loose in a hedgerow with nothing around but woods and field.. I didn't really want to make a special trip to get paint. Ever try to paint one?? They don't stay still for very long and I believe they could actually dodge the spray. This morning I check the trap and sure enough # 32 is there. As I crossed the yard I see another one scamper across the grass. WTF . I think the turning loose process is about to come to and end and we will see if they can indeed swim.
