A little tip. When I was catching two or three a day for a few days in a row I finally started emptying the trap into a 5 gallon bucket. At the end of the day I would just make one trip to the woods instead of 3 trips a day. I still think I should have spray painted them to see if they were coming back

The pic is deceiving. It is only approx. 5-1/2" high and 18" long. I believe it is this one: https://www.havahart.com/small-2-door-animal-trap

You are correct. People tend to interpret statistics they way they want to fit their own agenda. Similar to saying something like a white person shot by police by average only requires 2 bullets to be stopped and a black person by average requires six. Using your and BowmanMike's thought process one could easily say that blacks are being shot at more when in reality the number of whites and blacks being shot at are the same but blacks are being shot at more because more bullets are used. Liars figure and figures lie. Overall when comparing soup to nuts more white people are shot by police than black people as the chart indicates. Per capita means nothing in the overall comparison of who is getting shot the most by police.

Talk about a narrow view. What is says is: Rate of fatal police shootings in the United States from 2015 to June 2020, by ethnicity (per million of the population) The chart shows the actual number of shootings period. In case you didn't know figures lie and liars figure. Some of my best friends have been black but if you were ever to look at the percentage of crimes being committed you would find the overwhelming majority to be black. I am not a racist but someone committing a serious crime needs to go to jail regardless of their color or ethnicity. I have heard a number of "Afro Americans" state they need to improve their image as a race by improving in a number of areas. I have worked and served with all kinds ethnic groups and can tell you most of the obstacles you speak of they create themselves. They have the same chances in most cases as everyone else. Just like everyone else the choices you make determine your future. Everything is not a race issue like all the media and self-serving politicians are making it out to be. Stand up and be responsible for person you become instead of just laying back and saying "I can't make it because of my race" when thousands of your own race can prove you wrong.

Lets see your backyard ranges!
Steve D replied to SpacemanSpiff's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Mine is not to fancy but serves the purpose. I don't do a lot of shooting but have a range with marked off yardages at 25, 50, 75 & 100 yards. 150 yards is possible but not measured and if need be I can get out to 325 yards but have only shot that distance a few times. Most of my shooting is for zeroing in or checking zero. Occasionally my daughter comes out to shoot and we have a permanent 4'x4' wooden target stand with a big dirt mound behind it that we can staple targets. or cardboard to. Change the board every couple of years and we are good to go. I also made a pvc stand that we hang milk jugs filled with water from. Kind of redneck way but works for us. If we want to shoot at different distances I use a light weight shooting table that can easily be moved from one spot to another. -
The bucket system is great. My weapon of choice so far has been a small Havahart trap. I close one end so there is only one way in. In the back of the trap towards the closed end I have a old spray paint cap. In the center part of the cap I place a couple of dabs of peanut butter and then sprinkle a few sunflower/bird seeds in the outer ring of the cap. Seems to work. So far I am holding at an even 30. Some days I have caught 2-3 a day.

Same here....so far I have live trapped 30. I 've been taking them out back and turning them loose in the woods and seriously thought about spray painting them to see if they were coming back but it has finally dropped off to zero since the 10th. My neighbor says he has them all over the place on property also. Must be a good year for them.

If you think for one moment we have a democracy you are truly delusional. This country has become collection of "special interest" groups each with their own agenda. African Americans, Asian Americans, Latino Americans, LGBT Americans, Jewish Americans, Latino Americans, etc., etc. We are supposed to be AMERICANS first and be doing what is good for the country and each other instead of addressing each group individually. Here is ONE example of your democratic society. Will we see mass protests when lawmakers take a constitutional right away.... I think not. Biden has made it clear that one of his main agendas is confiscation. HR 5717 would: Create a nationwide gun registry Ban almost all semiautomatic rifles Institute a federal Magazine Ban Implement national "Red Flag" gun confiscation Tax guns at 30% and ammo at 50% Ban patriots under 21 from exercising their Second Amendment rights Ration guns by making it illegal to purchase more than one firearm in a 30-day period Force "Safe Storage" requirements on gun owners Ban home builds Ban suppressors Force FFLs to spend massive amounts of money to comply with new "security" requirements Expand "Gun Free Zones" And more than we can possibly list here in this space HR 5717 is so sweeping and all-encompassing that it is literally an ENCYCLOPEDIA of gun control!

I used to be a normal person
Steve D replied to Water Rat's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I honestly believe the word "normal" will be phased out of use and the dictionary in the future. How can it possibly be used today as a comparison to anything. -
So if the mob comes to your street or town, what do yo do?
Steve D replied to ApexerER's topic in General Chit Chat
seven rounds New York limits any person to putting seven rounds of ammunition into a magazine, unless the person is at an incorporated firing range or competition recognized by the National Rifle Association or International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association, in which case the limit is ten rounds.Oct 23, 2018 Only at a range or on you own property are you legal to exceed 7 rounds. The original intent by Cuomo/Safe Act was to limit magazines. Once they discovered no one makes seven round magazines except for smaller calibers they redefined it to limit rounds in a magazine for carry purposes. -
"Local archery shop here had enough" Ours got clearance to open a month ago. 9:30-6:00 6 days a week. Must be a different set of rules for down state businesses.
