  1. Jet sled is a great piece of equipment for getting deer out. I made a pull handle out of PVC which makes it very easy to pull by hand if I can't get the four wheeler to it. Also saves tearing the hide up and keeping it out of the mud and water.
  2. Hunt hard, shoot straight and enjoy everyday afield. The fall is such a great time to be in the woods and to witness the change of the seasons. It is without a doubt my favorite time of year.
  3. There are quite a few bear up there but it is some big country and hard to "find" one. Most bear shot are seen deer hunting or by chance. I have hunted the areas north of Eagle Bay and the Moose River Plains. It really is not difficult to find bear sign but finding a bear is a challenge for sure. Since they closed the Inlet dump it has become even more difficult. If nothing else you will see some of the nicest country NY has to offer. Best of luck and enjoy your time up there. A recent incident that happened in the area you are going: Town of Webb Herkimer County Wilderness Search: On August 18 at 7:30 p.m., a 19-year-old woman left her residence in Old Forge for a five-mile run and did not return home when expected. At 10 p.m., the woman's parents called police and at midnight Forest Rangers were requested to assist searching all the area trails. Twelve Forest Rangers responded along with 24 New York State Police Officers from Patrol, Special Operations, K9, and Aviation, and six State Police Criminal Investigators. Also assisting were six Town of Webb Police Officers, more than 100 volunteers from the Inlet, Eagle Bay, Big Moose, and Old Forge fire departments, and area residents. Search teams found the subject the next day in Old Forge at approximately 10:30 a.m. The woman said she had been running on the Big Otter Trail in the HaDaRonDah Wilderness Area when she encountered two bear cubs. The mother chased the woman through the woods and the subject climbed a tree to escape. After darkness came, the bears seemed to have left, but the woman stayed in the tree until daylight and used the morning sun to navigate back to the trail and walk back to Old Forge where she was found by the search team.
  4. Correction: I checked the bottle I have made up and the dosing label. It is actually 6.7 ozs. per gallon so a pint bottle will make 2.4 gallons. Sorry for the confusion . So it figures out to the equivalent of 26 bottles of Sawyers for approx. $260. vs $ 2.35 for per 12 oz. bottle of the mixed.
  5. Can't read the label but I believe it is. The one I bought is a Gordons in a 8 oz. bottle. Each bottle has a dosing label attached to the back for different applications. I use the dosage specifically for ticks which I believe is .32 ozs. per gallon. An 8oz. bottle of 10% will make 25 gallons and a pint bottle of 10% will make 50 gallons.
  6. Due To be released In October: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/american-crisis-andrew-cuomo/1137496252?ean=9780593239261
  7. Just what we need...The founder of NAFTA that sucked all the jobs out of America. He did some good things and gave the country balanced budgets with some surplus but the Nafta deal cost America a lot of jobs and part of the reason EVERYTHING is made in china. It isn't Biden you need to worry about. He will be lucky if he makes a full term then we will have Kamala at the helm.
  8. Where else are you going to find a double barrel for $100
  9. They have a complete lineup of "speakers" scheduled that would make most of us want a colonoscopy. I am not planning on listening to any of it but rest assured that is all that the news media will be spewing from now to elections.
  10. Why I don't completely disagree with you and think he is sending a mixed message I can't blame him for his lack of doing more. The problem is not with him as much as the vast majority of the population (snowflakes) that refuse to adhere to the recommendations of the "experts" and continue to gather in large groups with no social distancing or protection. Trump gets criticized for everything he does or attempts to do and definitely does not help himself with some of his verbal responses and tweets. Being a "free" society has it's drawbacks at times like this but you can bet if he did put more restrictions out there that people disagreed with there would be more unrest than there is now. We as a society are responsible for our own actions and we are the cause of the pandemic spreading not our leadership. If they restricted us more we would be bitching about that to.
  11. I am not very technical and not to argue but I would not say you are a hunter but more apt to say you are hunting.

  13. With the nature of sensitivity in today's world I would consider any statement against "Hunting, Fishing, or Trapping" offensive and possibly racist because of the lack of diversity in the sport. Problem is I can't drum up enough support for a protest.
  14. All I am saying is buying a license to hunt does not make you a hunter. I know ones that have purchased licenses for years and still don't have a clue what is means to be a "hunter'. A good many of them are out just for something to do, to get out of the house, or just to say they are hunting. Similar to buying a camera doesn't make someone a photographer.
  15. Unfortunately in today's world the criteria or quota requirement does not make qualifications the main determination. If the sole determining factor was qualifications the scales would be tipped again which started the discussion in the first place and got us where we are today. It is also happening in colleges where admission is not determined by grades but the ones that closest fit the "template" and considered "well rounded".
  16. Keeping with the original question in the post I would expect we will see more people than ever in the woods but the number of actual "hunters" decreases every year. "Hunters" has taken on a new meaning to include anyone taking a gun for a walk in the woods.
  17. By definition you are correct: Trespass: entry to a person's land or property without their permission. Putting signs up is not a requirement but has been used more or less to mark boundaries. The argument of "it wasn't posted" more than likely would not hold up in court if pushed. Most posted signs in NY are racist and offensive since they start off with "Private Property Hunting, Fishing, Trapping or Trespassing for any purpose is strictly forbidden" when a simple sign like this one would serve the same purpose.
  18. Seattle BLM protesters demand white people ‘give up’ their homes A group of Black Lives Matter protesters in Seattle marched through a residential neighborhood this week demanding that white residents give up their homes, https://nypost.com/2020/08/14/seattle-blm-protesters-demand-white-people-give-up-their-homes/
  19. I do simply because a $10.00 bottle doesn't go all that far when you spray every thing for all seasons. The stuff you buy @ tractor supply you can get a couple of gallons or more and it goes a long ways for better than 1/2 the price. No chemicals to mix just add water to the correct ratio and you are good to go.
  20. Assuming arrows, nocks, loop, etc. are good; making sure you have a consistent anchor point with or without a peep is the most important factor for accuracy. If you are shooting targets or competition your accuracy may improve but as long as I can shoot two or three inch groups without a peep I will not use one. Practice and form will keep you in the groove. I don't recall ever seeing any guys that hunt with recurves ever using a peep. If it works, improves your accuracy, and gives you more confidence, by all means use one. If you can shoot at an acceptable level and are confident without one I see no need to have one. I would also add a stabilizer to the list of not needed items. I know a lot of guys have them and use them but for me it is just one less thing to worry about getting snagged or getting in the way. I just try to keep things as simple and light weight as possible but again....to each their own.
  21. That could definitely cause some problems....I just do not like a peep and feel a lot more at ease without one. Everyone has to find their own comfort and confidence level and use what works for them. All I know is a lot of deer were shot with bows before peeps came into existence. Keeping it as simple and gadget free as possible and shooting accurately is what I strive for.
  22. I personally spend the first part of the season just observing to see what is out there and tend to target bucks first. As the season progresses and the season changes I get less and less selective and will take a doe without fawns around the first part of November just to get one in the freezer, but usually take any does I might shoot during gun season because the odds of getting a buck decline and it gets later in the season. To me it seems like the bucks (at least in this area) tend to go nocturnal around the first of November and sightings become less and less as the month goes on. Trail cameras also tend to tell the same story.
  23. A Jamaican Father and Indian Mother, close ties with the deceased "Beau" Biden, and the fact she could pass for a "Black American" gives her the right to call herself what she wants...similar to Elizabeth Warren claiming to be of Indian decent because she met one once.
