  1. Just got in from a afternoon sit in the same spot as this morning. Didn't see squat but the squirrels kept my head on a swivel all afternoon. Great day to be out
  2. And you can bet you won't see it after Saturday. One more reason to love bow season.
  3. Headed out this morning and jumped two right out my back door. Two dark to tell what they were. I set up on a travel route close to a bedding area on the edge of some cedars. Had one sneak through behind me and couldn't tell what it was. At 8:15 had a respectable 8 point come skirted around my stand, and stopped broadside at 51 yards. Tried to grunt and bleat him in but he showed no interest at all and just meandered off. I couldn't get a picture because I had the bow in my hand ready to shoot in case he came closer. I ranged where he had stood after he left. No way I could take that shot or even think about it. Got down and walked for an hour and jumped another doe. Came home for lunch and then back at it until dark. Sure hope this isn't the last sit for bow season but the weather does not look good for the rest of the week. Beautiful morning to be in the woods.
  4. A also use a 9 tray Excalibur. Mine has been around awhile and has a manual timer instead of digital but it does a great job and is very easy to clean up.. If this one ever dies I will buy another Excalibur.
  5. Went out this morning before the front rolled in. Jumped 2 in one location and 1 in another location on the way in. Saw a nice big doe at 40 yards in the thick stuff but she wouldn't come out. Nice morning that I wish could have lasted longer. The $40.00 boots from tractor supply have been good so far. Wish now I would have bought two pair. The forecast doesn't sound good for the next few days so I will wait and see what happens.
  6. WNY Bowhunter CONGRATULATIONS Nice Buck My day wasn't as good as yours but still a nice day. Started out by seeing a doe in the middle of road on my way to hunt. Right behind her was a perfect, symmetrical, basket rack buck that was pretty young and small. I would love to see him when he grows up. Hunted for a couple of hours and didn't see anything so I walked for about 1 1/2 hr. and didn't see much sign. Came home grabbed a bite to eat, checked the forum and headed back out. Kicked a doe out her bed no more than 10 yards from where I was putting the climber. Between 3:30 and 4:00 I saw a red fox, and three turkeys. At 4:30 a doe walks out broadside but was way to small. Ten minutes later she wanders off and another one starts blowing in the direction where she was headed. Shortly after that another one that I couldn't see to my right starts blowing. Next thing I know all three are blowing back & forth. I am down wind and pretty well camouflaged in some cedars so they didn't see me. I don't know if they got a whiff of the evercalm or what but it lasted till after dark and I waited them out then got down and headed home. Good day with deer seen
  7. True...that's what I meant to say dmp's I also see they no longer charge for "lost" backtags
  8. Wasn't me Sorry for the confusion.
  9. No it isn't..... If you loose your back tag you can pay $10.00 and get a duplicate. If the tags are lost with the back tag you are out of luck. They do not issue "duplicate" tags. That is why they should be separated and carried on your person.
  10. The book says " must be displayed on the middle of your back". If you are wearing it on your pack (like I do ) it is in the middle of your back. When I get in a stand it is still on the pack and usually visible. If someone doesn't like it ts. If it is on the middle of your back and you have a pack on it isn't visible
  11. By then he will be your president so there is no need to move.
  12. If Molinaro would have got the Green Party & Libertarian party votes he would have won and if my Aunt had balls she would be my Uncle. Even though there were record voter turn outs I think the ones that needed to vote still did not. To many people are complacent.
  13. This one might also and has a good reputation. Turnbull Restoration Co., Inc. Phone: 585-412-2927 Fax: 585-657-7743 6680 State Route 5 and 20 Bloomfield, NY 14469 https://www.turnbullrestoration.com/
  14. That sucks. Why someone has to steal tree stands when they are reasonably priced is beyond me. Crazy world we live in today.
  15. One year my brother in law put a stand up the afternoon before the opening of gun season. When he went in the next morning before daylight it was gone. That is one of the reasons I primarily use a climber. Every time I put a ladder stand up I chain it and lock it even on my own property. I bought four locks all keyed the same so I don't have to worry about which key goes to each lock.
  16. You will be lucky if you own one at the end of this term.
  17. In the process of putting some molding up looking out and watching the rain and 30 mph winds. Out steps a huge half rack big bodied buck and a doe. Shortly after out steps two more bucks both spikes. The big buck stayed close to the doe and the two little ones kept their distance. They milled around a little bit and the proceeded to walk right by my stand. The three bucks went in one direction and the doe went in the opposite direction. The way the big half rack walked I would say he is pretty old. He just kind of plodded along and didn't show a lot of energy. First deer I have seen in my field in over a month. Couldn't get a picture because they were about 325 yards away. Must be the rut is on here. Right on schedule.
