  1. Please educate me. Why would you be in a stand 2 1/2 hrs. before sun up? Just curious.
  2. I'll be out until the wind picks up again. We are not suppose to get much snow at all but boy I hate that wind.
  3. I have to believe that somehow or some way it is against his religion or his way of busting balls.
  4. I made it out for a morning sit on a piece of state land. 17 degrees nice & calm. Didn't see a thing or hear any shots. After sitting for a couple of hrs. I walked for over an hour and saw tracks but no fresh tracks. I saw a red fox and couldn't go 10 yards in any direction without seeing canine tracks. On the way home at 11:30 I passed this field with 11 deer feeding. I stopped, backed up, got the binoculars out, and could not find a set of horns on any of them.
  5. I think the only thing Hillary proved was this country is not ready to be led by a dumb "female dog" We still vote pretty stupid here in NY
  6. Hope you enjoy your trip and even if you don't score it is a wonderful environment and a place to enjoy for sure. Hopefully the snow isn't to deep.
  7. I made it out for an afternoon sit after the wind died down a bit. Didn't see anything until after hours or much sign. I thought I might catch them coming out of the thick stuff and they did but it was after hours so I let them go. No horns at all.
  8. Nothing to worry about. Most of it melted off and this area only got a inch or so last night.
  9. Here is one to try: Cut into some bite size chunks, season to taste, and put into a deep fryer till brown depending on how done you like your meat. Dip in your favorite barbecue or dipping sauce. Just don't cook too long because it will get tough. Quick & easy and works well on venison also.
  10. Unbelievable..... two members lost their best friends today. Sorry for the loss of a great and faithful friend and member of the family
  11. There is nothing worse than losing a pet that you interact with and love everyday. We have one getting up in years and I dread so see the day her time comes. They have a way of capturing your heart that few humans are capable of. They leave us with the best of memories.
  12. Not the biggest in the world but nice & plump. .223 60 grain v-max @ 137 yards. Ran about 25 more and keeled over. I needed to fill a tag so we have meatballs and jerky for x-mas and time is running out.
  13. Rattler They are hard to come by but if you can find one of these or something similar they work pretty good. Once the anus is removed just insert one end and use the handles to cut in a upward motion and it will make quick work of getting through the pelvis bone. Once it is cut through just stand on each inner thigh and it will easily separate. Light weight and easy to carry.
  14. That was my day. Went & cut it, brought it home set it up, and got the lights on. Hopefully finish it tomorrow. Small one this year only 9 feet.

  16. Only if you forgot Bowlog Reminder Bowhunter sighting log participants, please return your log forms by Dec. 1. Every year, thousands of New York hunters record their time spent afield and the number of wildlife seen during their hunts as part of the Bowhunter Sighting Log program. As a reminder, for “Northern Zone” and “Southern Zone” log participants, please be sure to mail your log form to DEC by December 1. For those participating in the “Westchester/Suffolk” log, the deadline for submission is February 15. If you are not currently enrolled in the annual Bowhunter Sighting Log and would like to be included in the future, please send an e-mail to [email protected] with the following information: name, address, DEC hunter ID# (12-digit backtag number), and the primary WMU where you hunt.
  17. Mine is a Pulsar HD 38 A. I made the purchase for night hunting but have also found it handy for checking hunting areas on the way in and out in the dark. It is amazing the number of deer you walk by and would never know they were there. I only use it on occasion during deer season. In real thick terrain you cant see much but the heat signature will still show up. One good example is squirrels. I used it once and thought there were only 4 or 5 and when I looked through the thermal they were all over the place.
  18. If you look in the very center of the picture it is a possum. He climbed up the back side of the tree I was in, climbed to the top and was eating dried up frozen wild grapes. He ate what was on that vine, climbed over to the next one, and ate what was there. Pretty entertaining for a slow deer afternoon.
