  1. I have used it but not with a vehicle. I use a electric hoist to pull the hide. The main purpose is to pull the hide off without tearing it. It works great on fox & coyote also.

  3. That would make them right one way or another. Gotta love weather predictors
  4. God bless you but for me hunting in warm/hot conditions is unbearable. As much as I don't like the wind and the rain I will take this over the 80's & 90's we experienced this summer. Regardless of how bad it gets I would rather blow it than mow it any day of the week.
  5. Took a walk yesterday and have water laying everywhere. I would love to get some coyote sets out but there isn't much sense and looking at the forecast there isn't much hope for the future.
  6. Despite the dreary rainy & windy day find a way to make it special. Happy Birthday
  7. And since we are now on the "five year renewal" plan it would also jeopardizes renewals and expand the scope of "background" checks to include almost anything.
  8. New York Democratic Brooklyn Senator introduces bill to add social media and internet searches as part of the background check for new pistol permit applicants AND RENEWALS. NY Senate Bill 9191: https://13wham.com/news/local/state-bill-would-review-social-media-internet-as-part-of-background-checks Kevin S Parker 21st District. We need to contact our senators and ask them to not support or vote for the bill. I am sure it is only the beginning of many to come. https://www.nysenate.gov/senators/kevin-s-parker
  9. I called this one in but was afraid to shoot him and figured he would be tough eating

Who's deer would it have been if he hadn't missed?????????
  11. I was up that way a few years ago hunting snowshoes with a couple of friends. I told them to make sure they took a compass reading before leaving the road. We got separated when the dog took off on a rabbit and needless to say they got lost. Good thing they had a lot of shells and I had a loud horn on the truck. Took them over two hours to finally get out. Definitely should not hunt up there without a compass or gps and know how to use them. I sure hope they find him (ok)
  12. No but this sure will: Two rounds from hunter's gun hit Rush home Rush, N.Y. - (WHAM) A home in Rush was struck by two rounds from a hunter's gun Sunday afternoon. No one was injured. According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home on Rush West Rush Road around 12:30 p.m. for the report of hunters firing behind the property https://13wham.com/news/local/two-rounds-from-hunters-gun-hit-rush-home
  13. Wasn't hunting but still a shooting accident: A Corinth, New York, woman died on Thursday after she was shot as her husband cleaned his gun. “At approximately 10:30 PM, 35 year old Eric Rosenbrock was performing maintenance on his legally possessed handgun when a round was discharged that struck his wife, 34 year old Ashley Rosenbrock,” Major Robert E. Patnaude of the New York State Police wrote in a press release. Ashley died at Saratoga Hospital. Eric works as a science teacher in Lake George https://people.com/crime/science-teacher-fatally-shoots-wife-cleaning-gun-eric-rosenbrock/
  14. When I left this morning it was 5 degrees with a minus 6 wind chill. Sat in a low spot to get out of the wind but it didn't matter because cold is cold. I thought maybe I could catch them coming down the hill or up the hill. # on the ground. Lasted 3 hours and had had enough. Didn't see a thing and only heard a few shots with nothing after 9:00. Saw a few tracks but nothing fresh. I am probably going to take a few days off until I get an attitude adjustment. It did warm up to 16 by the time I got home and the wind chill is up to 4+ Have a good day everyone!! Found the two on watch on the way home.
  15. I'll be out. Hunting Thanksgiving day is tradition and I have had some successful days in the snow & cold. Stay out as long as I can and still make a 3:00 dinner. Good luck to everyone and a happy Thanksgiving.
  16. Me either but the way this season has been I more than likely will if given the opportunity.
  17. Welcome...you are definitely hunting some areas for nice bucks and are lucky to have access to what sounds like some nice properties.
  18. These are pretty nice and easily keeps the coffee hot for about 4- hours or a little more. They come in 12 & 16 ozs. and the nice part about them is if you tip them over you don't spill a drop. ZOJIRUSHI. I received mine as a gift https://www.dealmoon.com/19-99-Zojirushi-SM-KHE48BA/577311.html
  19. Watching your own scent is a given but quite frankly I have seen more deer using nothing than using something. But you are correct about every situation being different. I have tried a few that others rave about with no results and even tried the peanut butter jar trick. I have pictures of deer walking right by it but the squirrels and raccoon sure had a good time. To each their own but it doesn't hurt to experiment once in awhile. Now if you really want to attract deer; make a fox or coyote set and you can almost guarantee a deer will step in it or near it.
  20. I'll be out here. Not sure for how long but it is indeed a tradition and I think I have only missed two. Once because of sickness and once because of pouring rain.
  21. Some swear by it but I swear at it. I had a decent eight come in this year with his nose on the ground and as soon as hit the evercalm he made a wide loop away from where I was sitting.
  22. I quit using scents for that reason. For the price of them you don't get your moneys worth in my opinion. I have had some scents including Evercalm spook them as soon as the get a whiff of it. The most I use now is a cover scent but then again I am not shooting any deer either.
