I would unless the DEC official is a notorious troublemaker.

Its not for me personally but in areas like Northern Maine and Canada its a very effective way to manage a large population of bears. Maine has a large number of outfitters that need the bear season with baiting in order to stay in business. The anti-hunting crowd thrives in incrementally denying hunters opportunities to hunt (they basically tried with some success to stop all bear hunting in New Jersey) so I support bear baiting in regions where it has been traditionally practiced. The humane society is currently targeting the 12 states where it is practiced. In Maine it is practiced primarily on private logging land open to the public. These areas have a large network of logging roads which are conducive to keeping a large number bait sites active. The situation in the Catskills and the Adirondacks is quite different as road access is quite limited.

If you are interested in saving money on your food bill, your best bet is to buy meat when it is on sale at your local supermarket. Its cheaper than raising meat and cheaper than hunting it.

Depends on how the situation develops in my hunting area. If Toms are in short supply I would as the season progresses.

Because I admire and respect the mighty ADK buck and I have had such great adventures hunting him.

2014 HuntingNY Spring Turkey Classic

Please sign me up. Thanks! -
My bow shoots pretty flat out to 30 yards. I use one pin which is pretty much dead on 15-25 yards, hold a little low at 10 and a little high at 30. I don't shoot at deer past 30 yards.

WNY Buck, Any chance in extending the signup data a bit. I was busy with my maple sugar operation (late season this year) and missed the post. Just wondering since a few other fellas would be interested also. Thanks for the consideration. -

Other than the fact that unions are bankrupting cities and states, bullying people into joining, launder taxpayer money and give it to freedom robbing politicians, do everything possibel to stop the firing of lousy teachers and conspire with Democrats to defraud American Taxpayers and subvert the democratic process .....they're wonderful!

Ammo in your safe,really safe?

Well said pigmy. As long as smokeless powder is not stored in a pressure vessle it will only burn. Cartridges will just blow apart pretty much harmlessly although some low velocity shrapnel can be produced. However cartridges that are chambered in a firearm provide the same danger when the cook off as when they are fired. Pyrodex is more like smokeless powder and much less of an explosive hazard than true black powder. -
Thats a fine job Steve. Congrats.

RIP Ed Koch. He always seemed to me to be a man with principles who tried to do the right thing.

Registering firearms/long guns

I understand how you feel. It will take quite a while for the laws to be implemented. Cuomo has created a huge headache for law enforcement with laws that may noy even be enforceable. During the interim legal challenges will take place in the courts. Hopefully by working with the NRA and other like-minded organizations some us are already taking a stand. -
As you may have heard the weather in the Mid-west have been extemely cold. So cold in fact the the state of Minnesota has borrowed a Norwegian Icebraker to clear the Mississippi for barge traffic. Here is a picture as the hard work begins.

13BVET, Thanks for your service. Myself, my father, my son.... we have all served from WWII Solomons. Guadalcanal, Marianas, to Iraq to most recently the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. You don't win anything by being emotional and by getting angry, only by being smarter and better prepared than you adversary. Yes our freedoms are being threatened but by standing together and taking action together and making the points with facts and common sense can we change the outcome. -
Thats true, but Andy and the Dictator and the other Dictators are relying on us being painted as a bunch of lunatic neanderthal shoot-em-up creeps. I'm just saying let's not play into his hand and ultimately we will win.
