    Regarding the summer heat… that is one reason I left Florida and moved to the mountains. We rarely get above 85-86* in the summer. Fall and spring are great. It can get chilly in winter, but we typically only get snow a couple of times. AAMOF, we will be in the 50’s today after last weeks storm. I can live with that.

    I joined this forum because I was born and raised in NY. I have friends in NYS. I started my deer hunting in 1966 in Steuben County. My family has land there. Where were you then? Gee, I’m so sorry you think my comments are stupid. I certainly did not realize that you are the opinion master. You know what they say about opinions…right?

    Not much hurricane activity… best I can tell. I have lived “in the south” for 40 some years. AAMOF, the worst hurricane I even experienced was in 1972 in NY (Agnes). Ticks… yes but in NY too. Very few rattlesnakes… in my area of north GA to be sure. Politically red here… very few stupid Libby Dems. No stupid gun laws or crazy taxes either. You could not pay me to live back in NYS.

    When I first started deer hunting (1966), I used the standard Remington pump then I bought an H&R single shot. Finally, after an extended search, I found an iron sighted slug barrel for my beloved Browning Sweet Sixteen. I killed bunches of deer with it. When rifle was ok’d in Steuben, I went that route. I still have the Browning but have not shot it in years.

    Good luck gents. I bailed and went home due to several issues. I did grant exclusive hunting rights to a new neighbor on our 80 acres. He was super excited. Hope he scores. Appears my NYS hunts have terminated.

    Down here, SEC football rules. Imagine being a Gator fan in the middle of Ga bulldog territory. I’m tolerated though because I did my undergrad studies at UGA.

    I would not recommend Nikon. They are out of the scope business. Vortex, Sightron and Leupold are all solid choices.
