  1. Hey guys, its been a while since ive posted, but now that turkey season is back, so am i. anyways. . who on here has their lifetime license? I purchased mine two years ago, with thte thought that I wouldn't have to bother going and purchasing my turkey permits and big game permits any longer (aside from my doe permit.) anyways, I was getting already to go out for my first turkey hunt tomorrow when I realized, I don't remember getting my new spring tags sent to me for this season.. I checked, and I never got them!!! When do they usually send them,?? and does that also mean that they didn't send me my bug game tags neither? What do I do!?!?!!?
  2. I have never really gone looking for sheds before, but then again, I hunt enough in turkey season, and ive never found a shed. Where should one go looking for sheds?
  3. Hey guys, just wondering, what do you all wear out in the woods, specifically during deer season? For the past 5 years or so, ive had the Under Armour Brow tines, and honestly,. I wasn't impressed with how long they lasted, sure I had the for 5 years, but they stayed REALLY waterproof for maybe 2 -3 years max, and the past couple of years I have just been being stingy on not spending money on a new pair of boots. My buddy that I hunt with just got a new pair of Muck arctic something or other, and they are pretty nice, but I've found a new underarmour boot, similar to the Muck boot, and surprisingly, its a bit cheaper. the boot is the UA HAW 2.0 800G. Do any of you have these boots? If not, what boots do you wear? Im looking for something that doesn't have to have insane amount of thinsulate, but I really need something that lasts a long time,. and keeps the water out! Nothing worse than wet feet! thanks for your input!
  4. Interesting, i definitely had more luck as far as seeing deer goes in early season. But i just never got a shot, but i saw nothing at all during the rut during the day time at my stands. I had deer on camera just sbout every night. Sometimes only 20 mins after dark. . . I might neee to find where they are coming from 20 mins earlier, and move my stand there
  5. was watching a hunting show the other day, and the guy on it was using this little slide calendar thing called the moon guide. During that show there were also several commercials for the product. The idea is basically this little guide tells u the best days to hunt based on the moon phases. Has anyone used this product, or anything like it, and had success? I think its like 30 bucks to buy it for each year. . .I was thinking of giving it a shot next year, as the buck I was after this year seemed to skirt me all year, and I never saw him during daylight. thoughts?
  6. I feel your pain, as soon as november hit, all my bucks went nocturnal, and now have completely disappeared
  7. Im in 6r, finding small bucks are up the does butts, but the big boys arent out during the day yet, hunted tonight and 3 deer came out behund me 10 mins before dark. Checked mt camera and found this. . .but look at the time stamp
  8. So i have never tried making a mock scrape b4, and i qanna give it a try this year. What are some tips on how and where to set one up, and what do you all use??? Also, is it too soon to take the grunt call in the woods with me?
  9. That DMPs can be used during bow season?? I was convinced they were only for rifle season, but the DEav website says they are valid during all deer hunting seasons.. .am i interpreting this wrong???
  10. Just found this pic from when i pulled the card today. . Ive never seen this before, i also finally got a pic ive been waiting for, for years, 2 bucks sparring, but this was just a cool pic
  11. I finally made it out!!! Got my 6 yr old step son with me, he couldnt wait to get out!
  12. 100% accurate, i have missed more times than i feel comfortable admitting, but last year i started practicing at 50 and 60 yards, amd when i finally had a deer at 40, i made the kill, and it seemed easy. Now, im afraid to target shoot at 20 or 25 yards because id be splitting arrows left and right. You should practice at least at 40 yards, because the majority of you shots will be 20 t 30 yards, and it will seem so easy
  13. Weather is going to be shitty:( im still gunna give it a go though!
  14. Im 90% sure thats a young buck, whos going to be a stid in 2 years, leave him be, unless u have alot of other hunters that hunt nearby, then might as well smoke him
  15. So annoyed, weather was looking great, but now the forecast is showing in the 70s through midweek!! Whyyyy!?!?!
  16. So October 1st is almost here! Alas, it has to fall on a MONDAY!!!! I took the week off, wont be hunting many AMs, due to the fact that we have a 2 month old child, and another one that has to get ready for school, so I cant leave all that to my wife, but I will definitely be in the stand by4:15 pm Monday afternoon? Who else? I have read a lot of people saying that they don't like to hunt early October, because the deer aren't interested in rut activity, but I've found that if you have them patterned on a food source, the first week and a half of October seem to be a pretty great time to be in your stand.
  17. this happened to me 3 years ago, second day or bow season I had a spike horn actually licking the latter on my stand, and he was so little that I just couldn't bring myself to taking a shot. I never got within 250 yards of another deer that entire season, but to be honest, I don't regret it one bit, that Buck was given a chance to grow another year, and maybe eventually be a trophy
  18. This year, I am hunting new land, and for the entire summer, and even now into late September the only pics ive gotten are of several 1.5 - 2.5 year old bucks. I really would like to take something 3.5 or older, however im not sure that will happen at the property im at, so I have my eye on the 2 or 3 biggest of the several bucks that I have seen. I have set the standard that I will not shoot anything less than a 6 pointer.
  19. Honestly doc, last year i saw sooo many deer in the first week of october, even with the warmth, i was surprised. This year i have a new spot and have been seeing a ton of deer on camera during daylight hours, and i feel like that wont be changing until mid October. I will be in my stand October 1st, no matter what.
  20. Its only 8 days away!!!! Im soooooooooooo ready!!!!
  21. Same, i had two young bucks sparring on camera the other day at like 630 pm. . .i have the first week of October off, so im hoping this activity stays the same through that first week
  22. Hell yea, my tree stand is overlooking a clover field, but sits on the edge of a predominantly oak woods. . . Thats where ill be
  23. Anybody seeing the bachelor groups breaking up yet, i checked my teail camera thats rught under my treestand on wednesday, and ive had bucks during daylight hours, everyday from 9/11 through 9/19. But they are all still together in there groups, and ive yet to see a really big dominant buck.. what is everyone else seeing?
