  1. has anyone been having any issues with the forums? I was on early today, started a thread, and replied to a thread, and then lost connection, and was not able to get back on. Once I got back on my thread was gone, as was my reply to the other thread. Is the admin messing with me!?!?
  2. Ive killed 3 bucks in my life, and all 3 times those bucks were in a b line to my tinks 69 drenched scent wick, ive also missed a couple where there noses were on the ground following the line i walked, because i had dragged a scent drag out with me. If there is a buck in the area, it works. That being said, it has never drawn in a really big mature buck, so perhaps it works better on younger curious bucks.
  3. I think mange is something that only predators get, however i could be wrong, but this is definitely a coyote with mange, its a skin parasite that causes their skin to get extremely irritated, and they loose all of their hair.
  4. OH MY GAWD, HE IS A GIANT!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE take this deer, Cant want to see pics of you holding him!! I legit would cry if I shot a deer that amazing, GOOD LUCK!
  5. awesome, I already have a DEP land access permit, so this is golden!
  6. Thanks guys, im super excited!! And yea fletch these bucks here all look young, ive seen one very large bodied deer on camera at night, bur so far back that i cant see the head. . And the deer is massive, so im thinking that could be a big buck, only traveling at night by himself right now.. hopefully during the rut he shows his face
  7. Wildgame innovation cameras are garbage, i own one, while it is reliable, it takes terrible pictures if something is moving in the pic, and night time pictures are very low quality, you pay for what you get.
  8. Nothing really impressive, all young bucks but there's a few here I would definitely pull the trigger for. I'm more excited about the fact that I got ALOT of pictures of deer, and all with similar time stamps as these, hour before dark, and 30 minutes to an hour after first light . . . realllyyy likin this new spot, hope that it stays like this for another month
  9. Man you guys have some monsters, i always wonder why ive never seen bucks like this where im from, these deer make the bucks im after look like puppies
  10. Ive been doing some stand maintenance and checking trail cameras, so far seeing good activity, but not sure what will come in a month when it matters. I will pull cards twice more before october first probably. . And that last pull will tell me everything i want to know
  11. Jesus, i wish i had deer like these on the properties i hunt.. nice bucks
  12. Ive been shooting a couple times a week since like may. . You can never be yoo ready, now that my cameras are out in full force. .the time is near!
  13. Count me in! Hope my six pointer on camera starts growing some kickers, fliers, etc!!
  14. So, Back in the day I was in the car scene and owned a mustang cobra and joined a new York mustang forum, and the guys on there were great, I met up with some local mustang guys regularly, we shared stories, hung out, showed our cars off. I know hunting forums are a little different, but that is kind of the reason I joined this forum, aside from taking in the wealth of knowledge that many of you can provide. That being said, anyone close to the capital region/central new York? ( I live 30 minutes west of Albany) who would consider meeting up during hunting season, finding some public land and doing some drives? I had one really good friend that I hunted with but we don't talk much anymore, so I hunt alone 95% of the time, and its honestly just not as fun. I would offer to bring some of you to my spot , but my uncle has told me he only wants me on the property, so that's that, but I think it would be fun to get some guys together somewhere someone is familiar with and slam some deer. id be willing to travel an hour or so, I often go hunt in garrattsville, which is close to Oneonta, my buddy has some stands there on land he was given permission to hunt, but again, when I go, its usually alone, and when my friend goes up there, he goes with big hunting parties, and they shoot deer out of the cars and shit, and im just not all about that. Thoughts? Let's hear em!
  15. awesome, im pretty psyched to hunt this spot either way, ive been waiting about 16 years to be given the green light to get onto this land.... so I think if I see this deer during bow season im taking the shot, but during rifle, I may pass on him... boy if he survives another year hell be a really nice 8 next year at least. . . but I would be super psyched if I took him with the bow
  16. So from what I've seen, deer really seem to prefer oaks to feed, however, do they prefer the acorns over a food plot, or even a farmers crop (corn, soy beans etc.)? I ask because in my new spot this year, during early turkey season I placed my trail cam on a woods edge facing what used to be a hay field, but has not been planted for many years, now it is just basically a weed field, maybe its still hay growing, but im not sure. Anyways, I placed this camera to scout for turks, but quickly noticed I was getting a lot of deer action at the camera. I would love to plant a food plot in the field that the camera faces, but at this time I don't have the resources to do so, but im wondering, since the field butts up to a hardwood forest, that is, for the most part, all oaks, and as I was walking through the woods I noticed the ground is just covered with Acorns. So after all that typing, my question is simple, do I even need a food plot? also, im pretty sure the field is still growing hay, do deer like to eat hay? thanks! - E
  17. Good input guys, this farm hasnt been hunted in at least 5 years, so it mak3w me wineer why i dont have somethung bugger on camera, clearly adjacent properties are getting them
  18. This happened to me last year!!! I was watching this decent wide 10 pointer all summer/early fall, had him on camera on September 30th, and then he came within 15 yards of me in the second week of October, I couldn't get a shot, and then I never saw him again! until I got a picture from a friend, whos cousin killed him about a mile away on the other side of the road, on the first day of rifle season :(:(. So it seems that was his pre rut spot, and once the rut kicked in, he shimmied over to the bigger woods to chase the hot does, and got himself killed by someone else!
  19. here he is again from my most recent card pull. . . . I don't want to shoot him, but im fearing that the people on the neighboring properties will. . . what would you guys do?
  20. Couple pics , Is this the same buck, and does he have potential to be at least an 8 point?
  21. amazing buck, I cant wait to see pics when u bag him!
  22. Is it really necessary to bash somebody and call names? We are all adults here, grow up. Smdh, its disgusting that cyber bullying even extends to what are supposed to be friendly forums, unreal
  23. In my opinion its all about the amount of time you put in. And I guess location plays some part in it too. Last year I had a monster 10 point show up on my camera two days in a row during the end of bow season, right as the rut started to fire up. Once I saw him on camera, I tried to hunt there every morning after that for a week or so, and he never showed his face again, he was just passing through. The point to this story is if I had put the time in BEFORE I saw him, I would have had my shot at him, and I'm almost certain that was not a home town buck, he was just passing through looking for a hot doe, maybe even found one,. stuck around for a couple of days, and then moved on. I think if you put your stand in a good spot, that is highly traveled by a lot of deer, and you hunt it as OFTEN as you can, a big buck is going to pass by with his nose on the ground, its only a matter of time. I cannot tell you how many times I have had the same thing happen to me as last year, where I see a really nice buck on cam a few times during the rut, but he never walks by me when I was actually in the stand, because I didn't put the time in.
  24. What about the deer that go nocturnal after making it through a couple of close calls? it definitely happens, and I would consider that a smart buck, and they are SOO hard to get. I had a MONSTER bedded down in some brush, I didn't even know he was there, I took a shot at a doe in a field, and missed, because back then I was a terrible free hand shooter, lol, but anyways, right as I shot I heard a couple cracks and up stood this monster buck who was bedded in the brush... and off he ran into the woods. I NEVER saw that deer again.
  25. awesome thread, awesome pics, this is really cool to see. The first buck I ever killed was on camera the night before, and the morning of the same day that I killed him. I was unemployed.. haha so I had a lot of time to hunt, and my buddy wanted me to go check his trail cam in this spot, and told me if I did so, I could hunt that tree stand that night. So I checked it, and found this four pointer on cam, so it was a windy evening, and I didn't want to go out because it was so windy but I decided to give it a shot, went out at about 3 pm put out some tink's number 69, and the deer was dead before 4pm.
