Bucks movement, how far will they go?

I think the head on picture is probably the best to compare, but the flash makes it tough -

Bucks movement, how far will they go?

alright guys, here are the best pics I have for comparison wise. . .pay attention to the time stamps, the deer in the older pics is from my hunting hole, and 11/15 and 16 are from behind my house -
Bucks movement, how far will they go?

But why did he travel 3 miles to my house. He could have gone 3 miles the other way, and not had to cross the thruway. HE IS FOLLOWING ME! I think our paths are destined to meet again, this deer is my arch rival, Hes everywhere Im not, and everywhere I am, all at different times. I lost sleep over this last night. He has stared me in the eyes as I launched an arrow into his upper shoulder, and now he has come to my home for revenge? does he want to be my trophy? I have NEVER shot anything more than a 4 point, has this buck made the commitment to be my trophy? lol you guys probably think im whacked right out. Ill keep you all posted, and like I said ill post those pictures today at some point. I should make a little hunting show, documenting my journey to harvest this buck. -
Hey guys, many of you have seen the pics of the nice 10 point that I posted earlier in the year, and frankly, I haven't seen him since those pictures. So heres the scenario. Just this past weekend I took one of my cameras and set it up behind my house, I don't hunt there , because its nothing but fields and hedgerows, but I figured, meh , what the heck, lets see whats back there. So, I went up on the hill last night to check my camera, and I see this beautiful 10, that's been there the past 2 days. The more I stared and marveled at this deer, I thought, my god, he looks ALOT like the buck in my hunting spot. So I got to thinking, . .. is this possible?? Heres the facts, let me know what you guys think: 1. I live almost EXACTLY 3 miles from where I hunt, which is where I started seeing pictures of this buck starting in July, Most recent picture is mid October, maybe like the 14th or so? 2. In order to get to me, Mr buck would have to cross the New York state thruway (there is an underpass connecting to my hunting spot, this may be how he made the trip), and several other roads, and several open fields. 3. The buck has a scar, from where I wounded him last year, but in my most recent pictures, he's right up against the camera, so the flash glares out any details. I have pictures to post for you guys, but they may not come until tonight when I get a chance. But from what ive stated here, distance, and barriers considered, could this possibly be him?

You know, i used to hunt rifle so hard, and then 2 years ago I started bow hunting and i thought.. my god.. I see so many more deer than during gun season, why haven't I been doing this forever!?!?! The first shot I took 2 years ago with the bow was at a nice buck, i was a rookie probably wasn't even ready to be in the woods yet, and i yanked a 30 yard shot. . .last year I wounded a nice 8, and was never sure of he lived or not til I found him on my camera this year as a 10! At that point I decided to make bowhunting my life this fall. I hunted really hard, saw my buck once, but never was able to get a shot, passed up on a 4 point the same night because I wanted to save my bow antler tag for the 10, and then missed a doe from 30 because I misjudged the distance, all before I finally whacked this lil guy from 40. Even though this was a small button buck, i will say this harvest was even more gratifying than my first buck kill with the rifle. I cant wait to do it again!

thank you everyone! It was a great feeling to finally get it done. I was thinking of bringing the bow with me opening day of rifle season, just in case I got a close shot at a deer, I want to do it again!

Just a yearling, but honestly I don't care what anyone says, this was my first kill, and it was a 40 yard double lung shot. Here it is! Killed Saturday 11/11/17 at about 7 am.

Hunted in 4f on Saturday, had a buck chase a doe, and she went flying by at about 150 mph, then later grunted him in at dark, but of course got too dark to take a shot. Primarily I Hunt 6r, and other than a few rubs and scrapes, I have not seen much of anything, but frankly, there just are a lot less deer here than anywhere else, and I think that makes a big difference. The more deer, it seems like the sooner it turns on.

Maybe it WAS an arrow... in flight!!! idk.. probably not tho lol

Hunting land for sale!
Iluvracks1359 replied to Iluvracks1359's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Well, luckily for us, our cousin is a realtor, so they are going to have her do the work for it. Im still working on my uncle, letting him know that I am interested in the property, hoping he will gift it to me... lol but I don't foresee that happening. -
got two 7j's today!!!! thank you!!!

Hi guys! It is with a heavy heart, that I write this message, and with hopes that maybe one of you on here could possibly scoop this up to enjoy for yourselves, and maybe let me continue to enjoy for years to come. The land belongs to my uncle, and is a farm plot in Charleton, New York in Schenectady county, and I must say is ABSOLUTELY LOADED with deer. I'm not sure of the exact details, but I know it is approximately 100 acres, and includes a 5 acre pond stocked to the brim with largemouth bass and sunfish. For the past 10 years or so my Uncle has generously leased the land to a farmer, who has failed to pay his dues, and my aging uncle, no longer wants to bare the burden of the tax cost, and helping to take care of the land, so he is evicting the farmer, and selling the property. I will tell you I've had some fantastic memories fishing the pond, but my interest in hunting only peaked within the past few years, and by the time I got the wits to ask to hunt the land, the farm was already established, and they don't want me hunting with the other animals around. I know for a fact the land is LOADED with deer. Here's the thing, I cant convince him to give the land to me, due to the tax cost (which is about $7,000 a year for the land alone), and hes looking for around $285,000, which I'm sure is negotiable, but unfortunatelty, WAY outside of my price range. The land has been officially made forever wild, and cannot be developed, except for a small plot, which would be large enough to build a considerable sized home. If you are interested and would like more details, PM me, and I can find out whatever I can. My hopes are that if someone on here actually did purchase the land, that they would repay me for the tip, and allow me to hunt and fish the property. Did I mention that part of the land has an apple orchard? Again, this is PRIME whitetail territory. I don't know everything there is to know, and again, if interested send me a pm and I can send u the address so you can google earth the property or whatever.

awesome info, thanks for sharing!

Magic time depends where your stand or ground blind is, or just where u set up. For years, Ive hunted farm fields our of a tripod, and magic time there is usually pm hours, and generally less than an hour before sunset, because this is when they head to the food sources. If you've done your homework and you know where they are bedding during the day, you can set up between the food source and bed, and then AM will be the prime time. However, during the rut, I think both am and pm are magical.

Tinks 69, has worked on MULTIPLE occasions for me, sadly I botched several of those chances, but I have also watched a nice buck walk right down my friends scent drag line while I was in a tree stand, and he was using tinks 69 also. The stuff works, if theres a buck in the area, its going to check it out, from my experiences

So in my experiences, I always seem to have more luck seeing deer, not only bucks, but just deer in general on days when it is overcast. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this an actual proven fact that deer will move more on overcast days? Opinions/ experiences welcome.

6r 10/16 saw a 4 point actively chasing does through a field, then ran out into the field, ran in a circle, and darted back in the woods, lol it was crazy
-
Really glad you posted this, I'm always looking for insight, and im just like you, I can sit til about 10 am MAX and then im going stir crazy. I wil say that I had my biggest buck on camera walk right to me on this past Friday the 13th at 6:10 pm, and I couldn't get a shot on him. I know that is before rut and pre rut, but I wasn't surprised to see him moving at all at that time.

I think it depends on the woods. im pretty sure Acorns are bi-annual for oaks, so one year the tree will be loaded . the next it may have a few, or none at all. Same with Wild apple trees, they expend all of their energy making fruits one year, they go dormant the next, and are full of apples the following year after the dormant one.

I agree with many others the heat has def slowed things down, i saw a 4 pointer actively chasing 3 doe on Monday, so things are starting to pick up. If you have does, your buck is going to be there soon. Hold tight and be patient, I'm giving you the advice many others have given me in the last two weeks, haha.

Grampy, land1, thanks for both of your input! I went in sunday at about 11 am amidst the broiling 80 degree temperatures and moved my tree stand to a spot that is between where he came from , and where I was sitting, about 30 yards off of the major runway. This is the first year im hunting this land, so I am adapting as I learn, HOPEFULLY he sticks to this run way , and I will get him. I did stop hunting that spot this weekend tho, as like you guys said, I wanted to give him space and let the area calm down a little. I will keep you all posted!

UPDATE: So Friday night I decided to go sit the ground where I have been seeing the deer , and it turned out to be a great decision, unfortunately, I did not pick the right place to sit. @ about 6:15 pm a nice 10 point walked right in to me, but do to my location choice, I had a bush in front of me, and did not have a shot, needed him to take another two steps forward, but before he did that, he knew something wasn't right , and took off. Shockingly he turned right around and came back in, this time more assertively, but again he was looking for me, and knew something wasn't right. He came in close enough for a shot again the second time, but again , didn't come into the opening,. spotted me, and darted. My question here is, knowing that I didn't make a single move, and it was clear to me that he did not catch my scent, because he wasn't sniffing the air and did not blow at me. Will I see this deer again, or did I likely screw it up for the season? I guess I should also note that about 10 minutes after this happened, a 4 pointer came in, which I passed up, and he ended up darting in a similar fashion as well.

So far I've been seeing a lot of deer but about 80-100 yards away . .. there could be a few reasons for this which im going to address this weekend, but any ways,, is it too early to start bringing doe pee scent out? What about a grunt/ bleet call?

WOW, what a monster!!!!! post pics when you get him!!! hes huge!
