  1. Much is to be said of someone who can pick a small fruit from an old dying tree than someone who can pick a giant fruit from an orchard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. If you watch any of the Dude Perfect videos you would think those guys never miss. I will not go and say the person in this video is doing it but I'm sure there are some people who does these videos kept practicing at the same spot till they got it right. Once you move them to a different setup where the angle is slightly different and the target is 92 yards instead of a perfect 100, it becomes a slightly different story. A slight misjudgment at 20 yards is hardly noticeable. A slight misjudgment at 100 yards and it's very noticeable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Many of the previous posters have already summarized the reasons as to why I hunt so I'll just repeat them in my own words. There are 3 main reasons why I hunt. To escape, the thrill of the chase, and to provide. Neither one of those reasons is enough by itself to get me to hunt. That is a very important point that is often missed. As a matter of fact, if it was for any one of those reason by itself, it would even be ludicrous. It is the combination of all three that ultimately leads me to pull the trigger. To Provide: Oddly, it is the least of my reasons. There is certainly a joy of accomplishment when eating a meal that I know is extremely healthy and that I obtained myself. The Thrill of the Chase: This is something that can never be explained to someone who has not felt the heart pounding adrenaline themselves. You simply have to experience it. The adrenaline rush isn't limited to the chase itself. I find my heart pounding even more after I pull the trigger. Did I hit? Was I successful? Where's the deer? It isn't until I am standing over the prize do the rush of excitement get washed over by the mixed emotions of sadness, joy, and content. You don't get that kind of rush with a camera in your hand instead of a bow or firearm and you miss half of the excitement if you don't pull the trigger. It is akin to a poker player playing cards without any money on the table. To Escape: It really is about returning to our primal natural selves. We, as a society built an armor over this primal being and often that armor gets ugly and tarnished. Growing up in the city and poor, all I've ever known was bricks and concrete. I use to remember sitting in the library and reading National Geographic magazines and imagining myself being that explorer. I guess that was my primal voice calling me. Wanting to be set free. I still love the city (ridiculous gun laws aside) but every once in a while, I need to escape it. The primal part of me is what decided the woods would be my escape. It's what makes me curious to see what lies beyond the next ridge. Looking for a nice place to call home for the next few hours. When I get to this place. A place where there are no one else around that will judge me, I begin to shed that armor. Piece by piece. Great words from a not so great man, "Without destruction, there can be no construction." It isn't until my entire armor is gone that I begin to construct a new one. I guess that is what phade and belo mean when they say we make some of our best work/personal decisions while out hunting. Often times our decisions are swayed by many lingering residue in our subconscious and my subconscious gets a spring cleaning after several hours in the woods.
  5. In the beginning of the ammo shortage, it use to be that 22mags and 17hmr are all that you could find. Now, even some of those selves are empty. I don't even see as many 308's as I use to but now there are tons of 223. It's been over a year now, hasn't it? You would figure the market would have stabilized by now.
  6. Congratulations Stubby68. All the Christmas week babies I know hate the fact that their parents got away with only giving them one gift each year.
  7. My wife has been talking for some time now about that DNA test kit since her ancestry is such a mixed bag. I totally should have thought of that.
  8. Thompson Center Shockwaves. 250 grains. Federal shotshell primers. 100 grains (2 pellets) of 777 pellets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. http://huntingny.com/forums/store/product/15-hunting-ny-t-shirt-ash-grey/ I mean, who could ask for more? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I'm shooting sub-2 inch groups on the first 3 shots easily out to 100 yards and it got me my first deer. It is an awesome gun at its price point. On thing is the stock feels like cheap plastic but at that price, you can't ask for much. It still gets the job done. My question is, why is it in the turkey hunting forum? 11. I thought me dancing around in the background in a nude leotard performing a rendition of Sia's Chandelier video would make a great addition to their photo but apparently Biz's fiancé didn't think so. All the dancing around for nothing.
  12. Engagement photo's? No wonder you weren't smiling. I was annoyed that day too.
  13. I was talked into a mani twice. Never a pedi. Took me less than a day to destroy it. I use my hands so much, my nails will always look beat up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. The economic boom created a lot of wealthy land owners and business owners who did not really have a formal education. Sort of an Asian version Beverly Hillbillies if you will. Except there are now thousands of them. It's not the college educated Asians who are more cultured and don't believe in all that hockus pockus stuff. We're actually frustrated by the black eye it's creating in the Asian community.
  15. Bought the wife necklace from Tiffany's so it doesn't seem like I'm cheap. The real gift is I took all her favorite photo's of her and our baby and used blurb.com to create a coffee table photo book. Titled it "An Amazing First Year" to congratulate her 1st year of motherhood and wrote some heart felt messages in it. Since it only came out to $55, I figure I add a simply silver necklace (she doesn't like gold, prefers silver or white gold) to make it look like I'm not so cheap. The problem is that the last couple of days she's been bugging me asking "Wouldn't it be a great idea to make a picture book of our baby to give to our parents?" I've been dodging it the last few days. Don't know how much longer I can dodge it.
  16. Welcome to the forum. Sorry about your grandfather.
  17. I stopped reading the responses after the 1st page, that's how fast it turned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. 1. Winning lottery ticket. 2. New house. 3. Remington 700 tactical chassis in 300 win mag 4. My wife not to spend our money buying me some useless gift like an ugly sweater or something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Different animals requires different tactics. Would not mind a coyote hunt at all. Not till January though. Deer season runs to Dec 31st in Westchester.
